PARSHA SHALACH — DANGER OF SENDING OUT SPIES

The God when He gave us the Bible set a yearly cycle by which it is suggested to illuminate (read) in the Holy “Book”. Concerning the parsha (portion) for this week:

The story of the spies is not an isolated event. It has continued on since their time, even today , in this generation’ You don’t have to go to the land of Israel to spy it out and return a damaging report. You can do from your own living room. and even in the land of Israel.
In the beginning of the parshah On the verse, “Send for yourself men and let them spy out the land of Canaan” (Bamidbar 13:2), The leaders of Yisrael approach Moshe and said, ‘Let us send men ahead of us to explore the land, and let them bring back a report about the way ahead of us and the cities we will encounter’” (Devarim 1:22). Moshe was wary of such a request and fearful that this was not a good idea, Rashi cites the Sages saying: “Send for yourself. according to your own understanding. I am not commanding you, but if you wish, you may send this is according to the Midrash Tanchumah Parsha Shelach..” This happened becouse the Children of Israel had approached Moshe and said, “Let us send men ahead of us” (Devarim 1:22), prompting Moshe to ask Hashem for advice. Hashem replied: “I told them that the land was good”, as it is written: ‘I shall bring you up from the affliction of Egypt…to a land flowing with milk and honey’ [Shemot 3:17]. The Steipler Goan says that when the spies enter the land Joshua and Calev were pursued night and day from the very day they arrived, they were hunted with a vengeance, while the other spies went unnoticed but what they choose to notice was the problem. The “meraglim” (“spies”) who were sent to scout out the land, ten of whom returned with a terrible and frightening report. The long awaited delegation of twelve Spies returned from Eretz Canaan after 40 days. The nation of Israel listens to their report, drinking every syllable with baited breath. And when the Spies deliver a negative assessment, apprehension turns to despair, hope to tears. By their words the children of Yisrael set up a opportunity to transgress against God and the words of the spies, was the beginning of the very evil result, resulting in the whole generation not inheriting the land.” Their mistake was thinking that their lives were subject to the same natural order as every one else. But in truth their ultimate success did not depended on their own military prowess, The God had been working for Yisrael supernatural providence time and time again. What were they thinking ? This was a grievous error. The debriefing of the Spies sent a shockwave of fear and worry through the crowd. Immediately, Calev took the podium and expressed his confident opinion. “We can do it!” says Calev. “We should set forth immediately! My assessment is that we can overcome the obstacles in our path and succeed. What made Yehoshua and Calev ben Yeffunneh tear their clothes and decide to speak out to all the congregation of the children of Israel?
His answer is simple. The critical line that changed Yehoshua was when the people began to talk about returning to Egypt. Which is an entire reversal of the grand enterprise of Jewish History. It is reneging upon the promises to Avraham Yitzchak and Yaakov – the covenant of the Land. This was an attack on the very essence of our being as a nation. In moments as these one could not stand at the sidelines! One had to take sides. One had to make a statement. Either one is with God or one sides with the rebels. Either one accepts that our journey is to Eretz Yisrael and a unique Jewish history, or one acquiesces to those who wish to return to slavery in Egypt and and exile consciousness. Yehoshua and Calev ben Yeffunneh show us discussed two very different people, two very different leaders. One leader is an outsider, a passionate lover of the land who fiercely speaks his mind when all are against him. The other leader is the man who is a political realist, but a man who knows his red lines. In the long run, Yehoshua’s realism and moderation, his experience and moral integrity make him God’s choice for national leadership. And yet, Calev is still there, always acting outside the box, independently, with spirit and unfiltered idealism.
“Moshe tells the people “Chazak ve’Ematz….lo tirah ve lo techat” (Shemot 31:7-8). “Be strong and of good courage….do not be afraid, do not be dismayed”. That is how Caleb and Joshua lived. They had faith, they had the courage to stand against the others and speak up. They held fast to their beliefs though they were outnumbered and did not allow emotion to rule. Their tale is a reminder to look beyond the majority, the claims and trends of the masses but we need to see all with the lens of Divine supernatural providence. Having the right leadership who have the right consciousness can often mean the difference between success and failure—in business, politics, religion or anything else in life.
The people were told that they had to remain in the desert for the next 40 years, during which time the adult generation would die. At this point the Torah skips over the next thirty-eight years in the desert. The Natziv explains that this time was a transition between these two generations. A time of change from a period in the desert where the Israelites were living by revealed miracles to where the Israelites will be living by nature in The Land of Israel. But even with this Moses wanted the Israelites to know that even though they would be required to secure a livelihood in the natural setting of Israel. The final result would depend no less on God than when the manna which descended directly from Heaven.
After this a lengthy 40 year desert sojourn, the people received other commandments. In addition to the burnt-offerings, feast-offerings we were commanded to bring meal-offerings and libations. Also given to the people is the commandments of removing “challah” and tithing the harvest. A “sin offering” was ordered for anyone who non intentionally sinned, and the people are commanded to stone the intentional transgressor of Shabbat . We also get here the commandment of “Tzitzit”, the commandment to tie fringes to a garment that has four corners. This commandment is one of the special commandments in the Torah whose purpose is clearly written in a manner that cannot be ignored:
It is written “ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the people of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a thread of blue”
The Meshech Chochma says that, We humans say about God, He is absolute and perfect. We might have expected, then, that the reality He created would be perfect as well. But when we look around us, or at ourselves, we discover that reality is far from perfect. Human reality is also composed of impurity and sin, injustice and mistakes. The gap between the Creator of the Universe and the world He created can be explained based on the verse from Psalms (115, 16): “The heavens are heavens of the Lord, but the earth He gave to the children of men”. G-d created a reality that is not perfect because He gave it to humans to control and to determine whether or not it would reflect Divine values and thus become perfect, or, heaven forbid, the opposite. This is why we all ways have “Tzizit” to remind us of the commandments which are the perfection of the world and man.
The greatness of the mitzvah of tzitzit is described by our Sages: “This mitzvah is equal to all the mitzvot together” (Menachot 43b). Rashi explains the reasoning behind this: “Because the numerical value of the tzitzit is 600. [Add to this] 8 threads and 5 knots, and we have 613.”The Torah also states “You shall not go after your eyes or your heart that lead you astray”. Meaning away from the way of GOD. As the sitzet allude to all the commandments as the numerical value of sitzet plus their 8 threads and 5 knots equals 613 (all the commandments). Do not follow your eyes astray, but contemplate the commandments which direct us in the way which is upright. Do not follow your heart astray but love GOD. As mistakes begin when one acts in a way not prescribed by the Torah. Like in our parsha the sages say GOD never told Yisreal to send spies. That is why the parsha begins with the words “send to you spies”. The people asked for this. GOD certainly did not need them to be sent. So it should not be surprising that their mission did not turn out well. This is where things begin to go wrong. Wrong for a long time as this was the 9th of Av. The day of destruction of both temples. Since GOD did not say to send out spies, the spies became filled and obsessed with excessive desires for honor. When arrogance rises upon one’s heart, the Shechinah (Divine Presence) flees. As the 2 do not dwell together. From this they were caught in their own sin. The sin of the spies has not yet been fully forgiven. For the next 39 years the generation of the desert would dig their own graves every Ninth of Av and went to sleep in them. The next morning some did not wake up ever again. The day the spies brought their bad report became the saddest day in our calendar, the Ninth of Av. It’s the day both Temples were destroyed on. We need to understand the exact nature of the sin of the spies so that we don’t repeat it. Their sin resulted in all Yisrael losing faith. As is written “our brothers have made our hearts melt”. This is much like todays false leaders who say ”there is no way to stop the rockets that hit our cities daily”, but this is ever so far from the truth. There is a simple solution ”overwhelming military force”. They did in, “Operation Cast Lead”, and the rockets stopped , for a while. Though in the future more ”overwhelming military force” may be required, until it becomes learned that peace is a better way. Also there are those who discourage others from settling in the Holy land saying its to difficult to live there and they have every excuse in the book and then some. Some in the generation of leaving Egypt did not want to Go into the Holy Land as they knew when they did Moses would die as he was told by God he could not enter the land. But the truth of the matter is “Saddikim” (Holy men) never die, but that the soul of Moses is revealed in every “Saddik” of the generation.
After the parsha speaks about a man killed for profaning the Shabbot by gathering sticks. The Parsha begins talking about “Sitzet” .We may not be allowed to wear Tefillin on Shabbot which are a constant reminder of God Therefore God reminds us that we have another of him “ tzitzit “. So words concerning of “tzitzit” come here to remind us the even if we don’t wear “Tefillin” on Shabbot we still have the “Sitzet” to remind us of Hashem. Also we can learn from the juxtaposition of “Parsha Sitzet” next to the parsha that speaks about a man killed for profaning the Shabbot, that a dead person, is obligated to wear “tzitzis”, The greatness of the mitzvah of tzitzit is described by our Sages: “This mitzvah is equal to all the mitzvot together” (Menachot 43b).
The sages warned us against these false leaders when they wrote almost 2000 years ago concerning these times in the ancient manuscript “Signs of the Messiah” we are told that before Redemption GOD will stand up kings over his people Yisreal who will reject his Torah in their dat (knowledge). They will be liars, But they will see themselves as those who serve GOD, but they do not. They will be disgusting. They will confuse all creation. Even the transgressors among Yisrael will be further removed from the redemption by these leaders who reject GOD, and the fear of Him. This will be a generation where truth is despised. At this time Yisrael will be without a king or true leader, alter or sacrifices. This generation will suffer because of harsh decrees that are different, strange and tragic made by these kings who reject GOD . They will make atheistic rulings against the Temple, GOD and his Torah.
Towards the end of the parsha some men went up to the land, it says ”the ark was not with them”. They went of their own accord. GOD had not told them to take the land at that time, but they went up anyway. Like the spies their action was not in accordance with Divine will, so how could it be successful ?. Only if our actions are in accordance with the Torah, Divine will, can we succeed in the end. The people could not enter the land till they were ready and could go with the Ark. With out the Torah one just doesn’t stand a chance in the Holy land. As the verse states “The land is a land that consumes its inhabitants”. R. Ostrowicze explains “its inhabitants” which literally in Hebrew means those who sit are consumed by the land. As the Holy land will not allow one to stay who is not moving higher and higher in Holiness. The prophets warn us concerning this as Isiah says:
” In that day shall the plant of YHVH shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be excellent and beautiful for those that remain of Israel. And it will come to pass that he that remains in Zion and He that remains in Jerusalem shall be called Holy,” (4:2)
The tribe of Levi did not send a man to spy out the land with the rest of Yisrael. Because the tribe of Levi did not make their living by farming. They serve as priests and Levites in the Temple and teach Torah. They lived off the various tithes from the other tribes. They lived in 48 cities that were given to them, which were surrounded by parks, but they possessed no agricultural territory. When spying out the land of Israel the soul of Joseph entered the body of the spy of the tribe of Menasheh. So it’s written: “ the tribe of Joseph, of the tribe of Menasheh”. The Talmud Yerushalmi teaches concerning the name change of Hoshea to Yehoshua at the beginning of our parsha an extra ‘yud’ is needed. It came from the ‘yud’ from the name Sarai, mother of our people, wife of Avraham, when her name changed to become Sarah. The free ‘yud’ that was taken from Sarai was added to the name of Hoshea, to enable him to become Yehoshua. Only 2 out of the12 chosen men best of their tribes passed their tests. Only Yehoshua and Caleb ben YefunehCaleb ben Yefuneh HaKenizi according to the Talmud is the same as Caleb, ben Hetzron, of I Chronicles 2:18. There, we read that Caleb married a woman named Azuvah, and when she died, took a new wife called Efrat. Caleb’s son with Efrat was Hur, whose son was Uri, whose son was the famous Betzalel, craftsman of the Mishkan. Moshe feared for Joshua’s safety as he was from the tribe of Ephraim (Joseph’s son), and Joseph once gave an evil report about his brothers. Therefore in an attempt to protect Joshua , Moshe added the letter “yud” to his name.
All Jewish people need to feel, get in touch with their soul’s natural love for the Holy land ! To engage in that that momentous “Aliyah” (Going up) from the Diaspora to the Holy Land is so HUGE. Love the land appreciate how fortunate we are to have Israel, our God given homeland should be a central to our Jewish lives. Today many religious Jews do not focus on discovering the Holiness of The Holy Land. If they do go to Israel they go only as tourists. Not coming to “explore” the Holiness of The Land so their eyes are closed. Many are so foolish these days they only speak about the defects they find in The Land. Making excuses for not living or even coming to The Holy Land to feeding their soul and fulfill the Biblical commandment to live in The Holy Land. It sounds like they are involved in the sin of the spies. It did not turn out well for them ? Those who portray an unfairly negative image of Israel within our society will be held accountable, look what happened to the spies in our parsha. They were thrown from greatness hard and fast .
We need to become zealous for Hashem and his Holy Land every Jew that possibly can should move to the Holy Land and begin living the Holiest Life possible ! Live with zeal , in this weeks parsha a man named Tzlofchod goes out and gathers sticks on Shabbot in public deliberately and is sentenced to death
There are those who say Tzlofchod violated the laws of Shabot intentionally for the right reasons. He wanted to show the people the severity of Shabot violation. When people would see him stoned for desecrating Shabbos this sight would have a strong impact and act as a deterrent. There are three opinions which law of Shabot he transgressed: carrying four amot in the public domain, uprooting , maamer and heaping. (Gemora Shabbos 96b)
The prophecy the 70 elders prophesy received was the knowledge they needed to be on the Sanhedrin, Eldad and Meidad, Moshe’s half brothers prophesied for the ages. One predicted that Moshe Rabbeinu would not enter Eretz Yisroel, and the other, the future War of Gog and Magog. It was this that alarmed Aharon..
We see in the parsha even after the spies bring back a bad report and GOD is very disappointed with us, and wants to bring severe judgment. The intercession of Moshe saves us. R. Yochanon states ”wherever you find greatness you find meekness”. GOD wishes the world to acknowledge him, then He will suspend justice and retribution to further this end. For this reason we must appeal to GOD for mercy upon his people as the hour is ”dark”, as enemies surround us. With Divine intervention we will find protection and Peace. With a complete redemption with our righteous Messiah and the Holy Temple built Quickly in our days. AMEN

This generation will suffer because of harsh decrees that are different, strange and tragic made by these kings who reject GOD . They will make atheistic rulings against the Temple, GOD and his Torah.
Towards the end of the parsha some men went up to the land, it says ”the ark was not with them”. They went of their own accord. GOD had not told them to take the land at that time, but they went up anyway. Like the spies their action was not in accordance with Divine will, so how could it be successful ?. Only if our actions are in accordance with the Torah, Divine will, can we succeed in the end. The people could not enter the land till they were ready and could go with the Ark. With out the Torah one just doesn’t stand a chance in the Holy land. As the verse states “The land is a land that consumes its inhabitants”. R. Ostrowicze explains “its inhabitants” which literally in Hebrew means those who sit are consumed by the land. As the Holy land will not allow one to stay who is not moving higher and higher in Holiness. The prophets warn us concerning this as Isiah says:
” In that day shall the plant of YHVH shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be excellent and beautiful for those that remain of Israel. And it will come to pass that he that remains in Zion and He that remains in Jerusalem shall be called Holy,” (4:2)
The tribe of Levi did not send a man to spy out the land with the rest of Yisrael. Because the tribe of Levi did not make their living by farming. They serve as priests and Levites in the Temple and teach Torah. They lived off the various tithes from the other tribes. They lived in 48 cities that were given to them, which were surrounded by parks, but they possessed no agricultural territory. When spying out the land of Israel the soul of Joseph entered the body of the spy of the tribe of Menasheh. So it’s written: “ the tribe of Joseph, of the tribe of Menasheh”. The Talmud Yerushalmi teaches concerning the name change of Hoshea to Yehoshua at the beginning of our parsha an extra ‘yud’ is needed. It came from the ‘yud’ from the name Sarai, mother of our people, wife of Avraham, when her name changed to become Sarah. The free ‘yud’ that was taken from Sarai was added to the name of Hoshea, to enable him to become Yehoshua. Only 2 out of the12 chosen men best of their tribes passed their tests. Only Yehoshua and Caleb ben YefunehCaleb ben Yefuneh HaKenizi according to the Talmud is the same as Caleb, ben Hetzron, of I Chronicles 2:18. There, we read that Caleb married a woman named Azuvah, and when she died, took a new wife called Efrat. Caleb’s son with Efrat was Hur, whose son was Uri, whose son was the famous Betzalel, craftsman of the Mishkan. Moshe feared for Joshua’s safety as he was from the tribe of Ephraim (Joseph’s son), and Joseph once gave an evil report about his brothers. Therefore in an attempt to protect Joshua , Moshe added the letter “yud” to his name.
All Jewish people need to feel, get in touch with their soul’s natural love for the Holy land ! To engage in that that momentous “Aliyah” (Going up) from the Diaspora to the Holy Land is so HUGE. Love the land appreciate how fortunate we are to have Israel, our God given homeland should be a central to our Jewish lives. Today many religious Jews do not focus on discovering the Holiness of The Holy Land. If they do go to Israel they go only as tourists. Not coming to “explore” the Holiness of The Land so their eyes are closed. Many are so foolish these days they only speak about the defects they find in The Land. Making excuses for not living or even coming to The Holy Land to feeding their soul and fulfill the Biblical commandment to live in The Holy Land. It sounds like they are involved in the sin of the spies. It did not turn out well for them ? Those who portray an unfairly negative image of Israel within our society will be held accountable, look what happened to the spies in our parsha. They were thrown from greatness hard and fast .
We need to become zealous for Hashem and his Holy Land every Jew that possibly can should move to the Holy Land and begin living the Holiest Life possible ! Live with zeal , in this weeks parsha a man named Tzlofchod goes out and gathers sticks on Shabbot in public deliberately and is sentenced to death
There are those who say Tzlofchod violated the laws of Shabot intentionally for the right reasons. He wanted to show the people the severity of Shabot violation. When people would see him stoned for desecrating Shabbos this sight would have a strong impact and act as a deterrent. There are three opinions which law of Shabot he transgressed: carrying four amot in the public domain, uprooting , maamer and heaping. (Gemora Shabbos 96b)
The prophecy the 70 elders prophesy received was the knowledge they needed to be on the Sanhedrin, Eldad and Meidad, Moshe’s half brothers prophesied for the ages. One predicted that Moshe Rabbeinu would not enter Eretz Yisroel, and the other, the future War of Gog and Magog. It was this that alarmed Aharon..
We see in the parsha even after the spies bring back a bad report and GOD is very disappointed with us, and wants to bring severe judgment. The intercession of Moshe saves us. R. Yochanon states ”wherever you find greatness you find meekness”. GOD wishes the world to acknowledge him, then He will suspend justice and retribution to further this end. For this reason we must appeal to GOD for mercy upon his people as the hour is ”dark”, as enemies surround us. With Divine intervention we will find protection and Peace. With a complete redemption with our righteous Messiah and the Holy Temple built Quickly in our days. AMEN

PARSHA SHALACH — DANGER OF SENDING OUT SPIES

The God when He gave us the Bible set a yearly cycle by which it is suggested to illuminate (read) in the Holy “Book”. Concerning the parsha (portion) for this week:

In the beginning of the parshah On the verse, “Send for yourself men and let them spy out the land of Canaan” (Bamidbar 13:2), Rashi cites the Sages saying: “Send for yourself. according to your own understanding. I am not commanding you, but if you wish, you may send this is according to the Midrash Tanchumah Parsha Shelach..” This happened becouse the Children of Israel had approached Moshe and said, “Let us send men ahead of us” (Devarim 1:22), prompting Moshe to ask Hashem for advice. Hashem replied: “I told them that the land was good”, as it is written: ‘I shall bring you up from the affliction of Egypt…to a land flowing with milk and honey’ [Shemot 3:17]. The Steipler Goan says that when the spies enter the land Joshua and Calev were pursued night and day from the very day they arrived, they were hunted with a vengeance, while the other spies went unnoticed but what they choose to notice was the problem. The “meraglim” (“spies”) who were sent to scout out the land, ten of whom returned with a terrible and frightening report By their words the children of Yisrael set up a opportunity to transgress against God and the words of the spies, was the beginning of the very evil result, resulting in the whole generation not inheriting the land.” Their mistake was thinking that their lives were subject to the same natural order as every none else. But in truth their ultimate success did not depended on their own military prowess, The God had been working for Yisrael supernatural providence time and time again. What were they thinking ? This was a grievous error.
The people were told that they had to remain in the desert for the next 40 years, during which time the adult generation would die. At this point the Torah skips over the next thirty-eight years in the desert. The Natziv explains that this time was a transition between these two generations. A time of change from a period in the desert where the Israelites were living by revealed miracles to where the Israelites will be living by nature in The Land of Israel. But even with this Moses wanted the Israelites to know that even though they would be required to secure a livelihood in the natural setting of Israel. The final result would depend no less on God than when the manna which descended directly from Heaven.
After this a lengthy 40 year desert sojourn, the people received other commandments. In addition to the burnt-offerings, feast-offerings we were commanded to bring meal-offerings and libations. Also given to the people is the commandments of removing “challah” and tithing the harvest. A “sin offering” was ordered for anyone who non intentionally sinned, and the people are commanded to stone the intentional transgressor of Shabbat . We also get here the commandment of “Tzitzit”, the commandment to tie fringes to a garment that has four corners. This commandment is one of the special commandments in the Torah whose purpose is clearly written in a manner that cannot be ignored:
It is written “ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the people of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a thread of blue”
The Meshech Chochma says that, We humans say about God, He is absolute and perfect. We might have expected, then, that the reality He created would be perfect as well. But when we look around us, or at ourselves, we discover that reality is far from perfect. Human reality is also composed of impurity and sin, injustice and mistakes. The gap between the Creator of the Universe and the world He created can be explained based on the verse from Psalms (115, 16): “The heavens are heavens of the Lord, but the earth He gave to the children of men”. G-d created a reality that is not perfect because He gave it to humans to control and to determine whether or not it would reflect Divine values and thus become perfect, or, heaven forbid, the opposite. This is why we all ways have “Tzizit” to remind us of the commandments which are the perfection of the world and man.
The greatness of the mitzvah of tzitzit is described by our Sages: “This mitzvah is equal to all the mitzvot together” (Menachot 43b). Rashi explains the reasoning behind this: “Because the numerical value of the tzitzit is 600. [Add to this] 8 threads and 5 knots, and we have 613.”The Torah also states “You shall not go after your eyes or your heart that lead you astray”. Meaning away from the way of GOD. As the sitzet allude to all the commandments as the numerical value of sitzet plus their 8 threads and 5 knots equals 613 (all the commandments). Do not follow your eyes astray, but contemplate the commandments which direct us in the way which is upright. Do not follow your heart astray but love GOD. As mistakes begin when one acts in a way not prescribed by the Torah. Like in our parsha the sages say GOD never told Yisreal to send spies. That is why the parsha begins with the words “send to you spies”. The people asked for this. GOD certainly did not need them to be sent. So it should not be surprising that their mission did not turn out well. This is where things begin to go wrong. Wrong for a long time as this was the 9th of Av. The day of destruction of both temples. Since GOD did not say to send out spies, the spies became filled and obsessed with excessive desires for honor. When arrogance rises upon one’s heart, the Shechinah (Divine Presence) flees. As the 2 do not dwell together. From this they were caught in their own sin. The sin of the spies has not yet been fully forgiven. For the next 39 years the generation of the desert would dig their own graves every Ninth of Av and went to sleep in them. The next morning some did not wake up ever again. The day the spies brought their bad report became the saddest day in our calendar, the Ninth of Av. It’s the day both Temples were destroyed on. We need to understand the exact nature of the sin of the spies so that we don’t repeat it. Their sin resulted in all Yisrael losing faith. As is written “our brothers have made our hearts melt”. This is much like todays false leaders who say ”there is no way to stop the rockets that hit our cities daily”, but this is ever so far from the truth. There is a simple solution ”overwhelming military force”. They did in, “Operation Cast Lead”, and the rockets stopped , for a while. Though in the future more ”overwhelming military force” may be required, until it becomes learned that peace is a better way. Also there are those who discourage others from settling in the Holy land saying its to difficult to live there and they have every excuse in the book and then some. Some in the generation of leaving Egypt did not want to Go into the Holy Land as they knew when they did Moses would die as he was told by God he could not enter the land. But the truth of the matter is “Saddikim” (Holy men) never die, but that the soul of Moses is revealed in every “Saddik” of the generation.
After the parsha speaks about a man killed for profaning the Shabbot by gathering sticks. The Parsha begins talking about “Sitzet” .We may not be allowed to wear Tefillin on Shabbot which are a constant reminder of God Therefore God reminds us that we have another of him “ tzitzit “. So words concerning of “tzitzit” come here to remind us the even if we don’t wear “Tefillin” on Shabbot we still have the “Sitzet” to remind us of Hashem. Also we can learn from the juxtaposition of “Parsha Sitzet” next to the parsha that speaks about a man killed for profaning the Shabbot, that a dead person, is obligated to wear “tzitzis”, The greatness of the mitzvah of tzitzit is described by our Sages: “This mitzvah is equal to all the mitzvot together” (Menachot 43b).
The sages warned us against these false leaders when they wrote almost 2000 years ago concerning these times in the ancient manuscript “Signs of the Messiah” we are told that before Redemption GOD will stand up kings over his people Yisreal who will reject his Torah in their dat (knowledge). They will be liars, But they will see themselves as those who serve GOD, but they do not. They will be disgusting. They will confuse all creation. Even the transgressors among Yisrael will be further removed from the redemption by these leaders who reject GOD, and the fear of Him. This will be a generation where truth is despised. At this time Yisrael will be without a king or true leader, alter or sacrifices. By this they withdrawal from the religious coercion stranglehold which gives them personally no room for individuality, a place to be themselves. Many do with destructive outburst that destroy the boundaries of law and order they feel are imposed on them by religious coercion that trampled on their individuality, the essence of their soul , that should have made them to feel the ecstasy of Divine experience instead of the the lowliness of a “ slave”. If this does not happen but instead one were to continue following in a religious path pretending to serve God and not doing the commandments for their own sake their comes a final detachment and evolving disintegration of ones inner awareness of their soul, their true self. And instead they are replaced with a obsessive-compulsive senseless religious fervor at best, which has no inner meaning really to them. They Just do it because the think they have too. At this point the real essence of this person disappears from reality. So they no longer have intuition, no tact, no consideration of the other, no room for the proper judgment, or even common sense. The “small still voice” of their soul’s intellect is extinguished its insightful voice is silenced. They become a ship of fools which has no captain. As this degradation continues so does a loss of the ability to sense other peoples needs. As they don’t even really concern themselves with their own except for the most base things. This creates relationships of cruelty, disloyalty, lies, and betrayal. From here they destroy all that is around themselves. Our present consciousness is of a imaginary state. We think that we exist a certain way. Some of us are awakening to see the actual reality. At the end of this process we will be full aware of the true state of reality.

WHAT WILL GOD DO, WITH ME ?
The first thing is you need to know, recognize and see is that you are not alone, ever. If one does not believe and know that God manifests in his own life and its providence. How can he have faith in the fact that God is involved in all that happens everywhere. Every day we encounter signs that point to an active Presence of Spirit. Everything that happens inside and outside of us is brimming with spiritual meaning, points of connection with Spirit. You need to find holiness in everyday life. By this also one may experience the mystical moment. One may see it or hear it, grasp it. Yet it has no form and is unseen and unheard being elusive and evasive. God presents Himself as the undefinable oneness. A glimpse of the Divine is every where. Seeing the patterns emerging in life awakens us. There is meaning in what happens to us in nature and the cosmos. In those things others see only as chance or strange coincidence. Although they have a subtle yet undeniable and uncanny quality. Here God reveals himself and then at once is concealed.Unfortunately most people don’t have a clue what’s going on. God is always trying to make contact but they can’t perceive this. The whole universe is there to support our spiritual awareness. The universe is saturated with purpose and meaning. Our universe is directed by a powerful, creative intelligence, and an ordering principle of truly astonishing power, complexity, and beauty. God can be observed in the constant regularity of the universe. We can see this wonder when looking at modern science concerning the wondrous exacting complexity at the atomic and cellular level. To the wonders of the movements of the stars planets and constellations. In these things also is evidence of the subtle truth of the Divine in Creation, of God. One of the great expressions of God is the natural flow of energy transformation in the universe. You need to realize the constancy and patterns occurring in your own life, as found in the deep nature of the universe. Awareness of this leads to recognition of one’s own immutable spiritual nature. God is behind all phenomena. Everything in the universe is directed by his “laws of nature”. Just as our own breath.Violation of this law leads to disaster. Try stop breathing for a while. Adherence to the law is blessing, by it we remain in harmony with God and his universe. The highway to elevated consciousness exists in recognizing the sacred in everyday life. It is a process of continually practicing self-awareness, paying greater attention to the contents of everyday experiences: sensations, thoughts and feelings. The awareness of our inner and outer lives. The human psyche and the cosmic psyche (soul) are entwined and expressed through patterns that are neither imagined nor directed by us, but rather guided by the mysterious force some call God. With this awareness comes freedom and responsibility. Know that the whole activity of nature is to make one aware of their soul, and its Divine nature. The goal is to manifest this divinity within. This can be done by work (as acts of kindness and other spiritual actions), developing spiritual powers such as the ability to pray, and by learning reading Divine knowledge. One continuously forms destiny. Each stage of life is the root of the next. When you can see that God is there, everywhere. It makes it alot easier to rely upon his help, to ask for it. To know that he will come through for you. God sees and knows all. It can become as clear, as you know that your own father would do everything in his power to save your life. You will come to see that God is right there with you and will not fail you. You should know that a basic privilege that everyone has is a right to be successful. No matter who they are, where they find themselves, and to where they have fallen. They just must find the right thing to do from deep inside their heart, and go for it. The creator has placed our destiny and highest vision in the recesses of our years, you just need to discover it. But don’t come to think that just because God will help you it will be easy to accomplish your desires. You will still need to take up whatever idea it is that you want God to work with you upon and make this your life. Think upon it, dream of it, live on your idea. This is the art of certain victory, Know that this is the way to success, and this is the way that has produced people with great accomplishments. If what you desire to accomplish is for your good God then will help you succeed. Each person has gone through a certain amount of a “wild goose chase” trying to reach for things that are not theirs to take. God sometimes needs to modify our plans. Doors are opened and closed for our benefit. If something seems to be lacking, this is from God, and there are reasons for it. When you find yourself accomplishing your desired goal this will bring you to real trust in God. Then nothing can take it away. What ever your doing if God is with you you will succeed. God always wins. You just need to push forward. Chase after that which is your goal. If the way seems blocked towards your goal know that the peel comes before the fruit. They can be part of the process of growth itself that well lead you to what you want to achieve. These obstacles many times are only a vessel by which your success will mature through. The obstacles you face are really energy blocks that you can channel positively for personal enlightenment and achievement. Don’t give up and quit prematurely and then you will succeed in accomplishing your goal. You want help from on high. Ask God for help. It begins by recognizing God’s Presence.

Our physical forms appear animal in their nature, but not our spiritual dimension, our souls. Man can think and conceptualize like an angel but he can act like a human. Man can grasp ideas that only angels can, but he can also act in physical ways that angels cannot. Humans also differ from angels by having a physical form. This enables them to manifest the Divine on earth with their every thought, word and action. There is a ancient teaching in the Oral tradition that the Bible is learned and explained by 32 methods. The 29th of these 32 methods is called gematria (numerology). It is taught that the numerical values of the Hebrew letters were given to Moses at Mount Sinai.
Hebrew is the Divine language of the Bible, it’s the original language of the Torah. It is the code and the conduit through which God created and re-creates and sustains everything that is. As its written concerning reward of the Torah “ The fruits of which a man enjoys in this world, while the principle remains for him in the World to Come.” (Seder Zeraim, Tractate Peah: Chapter 1, Mishnah ) so we see fulfilling Torah has a reward in this world, but the greatest part of the reward will be in the world to come. The Spiritual life that will follow this existence. It is also interesting that Bina Divine understanding is known in Kabbalah as the “world to come”. Its also written “the reward of a mitzvah (command) is the mitzvah itself.” Mitzvah means “joining,” “attachment,” “connection.” Whoever performs a mitzvah becomes joined to the Essence of God – may He be blessed – the One Who issues that particular command. This is the meaning of “The reward of a mitzvah is the mitzvah (itself)”: 1 When one performs a mitzvah, he/she becomes attached to the Ultimate Goodness and Essence of the Eyn Sof (infiniteness of God) Who ordained the command – and that is in itself reward. Which again is like our equation:

PARZUFIM
General Parzufim
There are 5 parzufim of Atzilut. Each contains 5 parzufim. Each has 613 parts and is in the image of man.1 These parts include 248 limbs and 365 sinews. Each parzuf has 7 ”Hachalot” (palaces). Each and every parzuf of A”k, Atzilut Bria Yetzera and Asiyah includes the parzufim called : Brain, Bone, Sinews, skin and parzuf Flesh. 2 The 11 spices of incense correspond to 11 gaps between the parzufim. Rabbi Yakov Abuchitzera teaches that there are 11 main sparks, curses, and spices in the incense and they correspond to Abba, imma, Yisrael Saba, Tevunah and the 7 sefirot of Zu’n of Bria Yetzera and Asyiah.3 11 sefirot are 11 aspects of the kings who died. They are 7 from Zu”n and 4 from the back of Abba Imma and Yesoit.4 Rabbi Shalom Sharabi teaches מ”החדש went out to make tikun of All the parzufim of Atzilut cleansing Atzilut of Nikudot. Making klipa Noga of Atzilut (real soul food-מ”החדש made and makes the sparks rise) being The Nashama and its life force. Making Klipot Nogah of Bria of Good and Evil. So to in Yetzera and Asiyah. Purifying the 7 kings that died. They being ו”ה =11. As the “kidusha” in the klipa is devided into 11 aspects. These are 10 sefirot “penimi”, Being the Nashamot and the life force in them, And one “makiff ” upon them. Parralel to these are the 11 spice of Incense.5 All 10 of the sefirot is a complete parzuf except Teferet Dat and Yesod. Each of these includes 2 parzufim. So 9 sefirot are 12 parzufim. (Bina, Chuchmah, Dat-2 Chesed,Givurah,Teferet-2,Netzauch,Hod,Yesod-2) 6 There multiplies on the face of the earth 12 פנים (faces), 12 Holy parzufim to the Nashamot.7 Each parzuf is made of all 5 making a total of 25 parzufim.8 Each of these 25 pazufim is made of 5 parzufim making a total of 125.9 All Parzufim of Bria, Yetzera and Asiyah go out of Zu’n of Atzilut.10 The 5 parzufim in Bria are as in Atzilut except Arich and Abba of Bria have only 6 corners, but Imma in Bria is a complete parzuf of 10 sefirot, She has only one ”makiff”. Z”a of Bria has 2 ”makiff”. In Yetzera Arich and Abba are in the aspect of only 3 sefirot on 3 sefirot . Imma, Teferet and Malchut of Yetzera each have only 6 corners. Imma of Yetzera has no “makiff”, Tereret has one ”makiff,and Nakavah has 2. In Asiyah Abba is only a small point, but Arich is 3 sefirot included in 3 as the rest of the sefirot of Asiyah except Abba. This is becouse in Asiyah Arich is the middle pillar.11 All the parzufim must be refined as they are made of vessels and sparks of the 7 kings of ”Olam Nikudim” that shattered to 320 aspects. Atzilut is shut in the “reshimu”. The world is according to vessels and not lights. From Yesod is the aspect of the body, inside is the soul. A”k of Atzilut, Bria, Yetzera and Asiyah is the tip of the י of 4 יהו “ ה.12 There are names of יהו “ ה in Binna, Z’a and Nakavah. They are drawn from אלהי “ ם . Every יהו “ ה is the aspect of eyes. This is the idea of round letters.13 After tikun the source of ב “ ן is in Nakavah of A”k. From the Yesod of A”k goes a drop of “mym duchrin”, which is the secret of the name מ “ ה . מ”ה is the Yesod of “duchrah”. מ”ה goes out of the forehead of A”k. This is the idea of dominance of the Nashama.14

The God when He gave us the Bible set a yearly cycle by which it is suggested to illuminate (read) in the Holy “Book”. Concerning the parsha (portion) for this week:

In the beginning of the parshah On the verse, “Send for yourself men and let them spy out the land of Canaan” (Bamidbar 13:2), Rashi cites the Sages saying: “Send for yourself. according to your own understanding. I am not commanding you, but if you wish, you may send this is according to the Midrash Tanchumah Parsha Shelach..” This happened becouse the Children of Israel had approached Moshe and said, “Let us send men ahead of us” (Devarim 1:22), prompting Moshe to ask Hashem for advice. Hashem replied: “I told them that the land was good”, as it is written: ‘I shall bring you up from the affliction of Egypt…to a land flowing with milk and honey’ [Shemot 3:17]. The Steipler Goan says that when the spies enter the land Joshua and Calev were pursued night and day from the very day they arrived, they were hunted with a vengeance, while the other spies went unnoticed but what they choose to notice was the problem. The “meraglim” (“spies”) who were sent to scout out the land, ten of whom returned with a terrible and frightening report By their words the children of Yisrael set up a opportunity to transgress against God and the words of the spies, was the beginning of the very evil result, resulting in the whole generation not inheriting the land.” Their mistake was thinking that their lives were subject to the same natural order as every none else. But in truth their ultimate success did not depended on their own military prowess, The God had been working for Yisrael supernatural providence time and time again. What were they thinking ? This was a grievous error.
The people were told that they had to remain in the desert for the next 40 years, during which time the adult generation would die. At this point the Torah skips over the next thirty-eight years in the desert. The Natziv explains that this time was a transition between these two generations. A time of change from a period in the desert where the Israelites were living by revealed miracles to where the Israelites will be living by nature in The Land of Israel. But even with this Moses wanted the Israelites to know that even though they would be required to secure a livelihood in the natural setting of Israel. The final result would depend no less on God than when the manna which descended directly from Heaven.
After this a lengthy 40 year desert sojourn, the people received other commandments. In addition to the burnt-offerings, feast-offerings we were commanded to bring meal-offerings and libations. Also given to the people is the commandments of removing “challah” and tithing the harvest. A “sin offering” was ordered for anyone who non intentionally sinned, and the people are commanded to stone the intentional transgressor of Shabbat . We also get here the commandment of “Tzitzit”, the commandment to tie fringes to a garment that has four corners. This commandment is one of the special commandments in the Torah whose purpose is clearly written in a manner that cannot be ignored:
It is written “ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the people of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a thread of blue”
The Meshech Chochma says that, We humans say about God, He is absolute and perfect. We might have expected, then, that the reality He created would be perfect as well. But when we look around us, or at ourselves, we discover that reality is far from perfect. Human reality is also composed of impurity and sin, injustice and mistakes. The gap between the Creator of the Universe and the world He created can be explained based on the verse from Psalms (115, 16): “The heavens are heavens of the Lord, but the earth He gave to the children of men”. G-d created a reality that is not perfect because He gave it to humans to control and to determine whether or not it would reflect Divine values and thus become perfect, or, heaven forbid, the opposite. This is why we all ways have “Tzizit” to remind us of the commandments which are the perfection of the world and man.
The greatness of the mitzvah of tzitzit is described by our Sages: “This mitzvah is equal to all the mitzvot together” (Menachot 43b). Rashi explains the reasoning behind this: “Because the numerical value of the tzitzit is 600. [Add to this] 8 threads and 5 knots, and we have 613.”The Torah also states “You shall not go after your eyes or your heart that lead you astray”. Meaning away from the way of GOD. As the sitzet allude to all the commandments as the numerical value of sitzet plus their 8 threads and 5 knots equals 613 (all the commandments). Do not follow your eyes astray, but contemplate the commandments which direct us in the way which is upright. Do not follow your heart astray but love GOD. As mistakes begin when one acts in a way not prescribed by the Torah. Like in our parsha the sages say GOD never told Yisreal to send spies. That is why the parsha begins with the words “send to you spies”. The people asked for this. GOD certainly did not need them to be sent. So it should not be surprising that their mission did not turn out well. This is where things begin to go wrong. Wrong for a long time as this was the 9th of Av. The day of destruction of both temples. Since GOD did not say to send out spies, the spies became filled and obsessed with excessive desires for honor. When arrogance rises upon one’s heart, the Shechinah (Divine Presence) flees. As the 2 do not dwell together. From this they were caught in their own sin. The sin of the spies has not yet been fully forgiven. For the next 39 years the generation of the desert would dig their own graves every Ninth of Av and went to sleep in them. The next morning some did not wake up ever again. The day the spies brought their bad report became the saddest day in our calendar, the Ninth of Av. It’s the day both Temples were destroyed on. We need to understand the exact nature of the sin of the spies so that we don’t repeat it. Their sin resulted in all Yisrael losing faith. As is written “our brothers have made our hearts melt”. This is much like todays false leaders who say ”there is no way to stop the rockets that hit our cities daily”, but this is ever so far from the truth. There is a simple solution ”overwhelming military force”. They did in, “Operation Cast Lead”, and the rockets stopped , for a while. Though in the future more ”overwhelming military force” may be required, until it becomes learned that peace is a better way. Also there are those who discourage others from settling in the Holy land saying its to difficult to live there and they have every excuse in the book and then some. Some in the generation of leaving Egypt did not want to Go into the Holy Land as they knew when they did Moses would die as he was told by God he could not enter the land. But the truth of the matter is “Saddikim” (Holy men) never die, but that the soul of Moses is revealed in every “Saddik” of the generation.
After the parsha speaks about a man killed for profaning the Shabbot by gathering sticks. The Parsha begins talking about “Sitzet” .We may not be allowed to wear Tefillin on Shabbot which are a constant reminder of God Therefore God reminds us that we have another of him “ tzitzit “. So words concerning of “tzitzit” come here to remind us the even if we don’t wear “Tefillin” on Shabbot we still have the “Sitzet” to remind us of Hashem. Also we can learn from the juxtaposition of “Parsha Sitzet” next to the parsha that speaks about a man killed for profaning the Shabbot, that a dead person, is obligated to wear “tzitzis”, The greatness of the mitzvah of tzitzit is described by our Sages: “This mitzvah is equal to all the mitzvot together” (Menachot 43b).
The sages warned us against these false leaders when they wrote almost 2000 years ago concerning these times in the ancient manuscript “Signs of the Messiah” we are told that before Redemption GOD will stand up kings over his people Yisreal who will reject his Torah in their dat (knowledge). They will be liars, But they will see themselves as those who serve GOD, but they do not. They will be disgusting. They will confuse all creation. Even the transgressors among Yisrael will be further removed from the redemption by these leaders who reject GOD, and the fear of Him. This will be a generation where truth is despised. At this time Yisrael will be without a king or true leader, alter or sacrifices. This generation will suffer because of harsh decrees that are different, strange and tragic made by these kings who reject GOD . They will make atheistic rulings against the Temple, GOD and his Torah.
Towards the end of the parsha some men went up to the land, it says ”the ark was not with them”. They went of their own accord. GOD had not told them to take the land at that time, but they went up anyway. Like the spies their action was not in accordance with Divine will, so how could it be successful ?. Only if our actions are in accordance with the Torah, Divine will, can we succeed in the end. The people could not enter the land till they were ready and could go with the Ark. With out the Torah one just doesn’t stand a chance in the Holy land. As the verse states “The land is a land that consumes its inhabitants”. R. Ostrowicze explains “its inhabitants” which literally in Hebrew means those who sit are consumed by the land. As the Holy land will not allow one to stay who is not moving higher and higher in Holiness. The prophets warn us concerning this as Isiah says:
” In that day shall the plant of YHVH shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be excellent and beautiful for those that remain of Israel. And it will come to pass that he that remains in Zion and He that remains in Jerusalem shall be called Holy,” (4:2)
The tribe of Levi did not send a man to spy out the land with the rest of Yisrael. Because the tribe of Levi did not make their living by farming. They serve as priests and Levites in the Temple and teach Torah. They lived off the various tithes from the other tribes. They lived in 48 cities that were given to them, which were surrounded by parks, but they possessed no agricultural territory. When spying out the land of Israel the soul of Joseph entered the body of the spy of the tribe of Menasheh. So it’s written: “ the tribe of Joseph, of the tribe of Menasheh”. The Talmud Yerushalmi teaches concerning the name change of Hoshea to Yehoshua at the beginning of our parsha an extra ‘yud’ is needed. It came from the ‘yud’ from the name Sarai, mother of our people, wife of Avraham, when her name changed to become Sarah. The free ‘yud’ that was taken from Sarai was added to the name of Hoshea, to enable him to become Yehoshua. Only 2 out of the12 chosen men best of their tribes passed their tests. Only Yehoshua and Caleb ben YefunehCaleb ben Yefuneh HaKenizi according to the Talmud is the same as Caleb, ben Hetzron, of I Chronicles 2:18. There, we read that Caleb married a woman named Azuvah, and when she died, took a new wife called Efrat. Caleb’s son with Efrat was Hur, whose son was Uri, whose son was the famous Betzalel, craftsman of the Mishkan. Moshe feared for Joshua’s safety as he was from the tribe of Ephraim (Joseph’s son), and Joseph once gave an evil report about his brothers. Therefore in an attempt to protect Joshua , Moshe added the letter “yud” to his name.
All Jewish people need to feel, get in touch with their soul’s natural love for the Holy land ! To engage in that that momentous “Aliyah” (Going up) from the Diaspora to the Holy Land is so HUGE. Love the land appreciate how fortunate we are to have Israel, our God given homeland should be a central to our Jewish lives. Today many religious Jews do not focus on discovering the Holiness of The Holy Land. If they do go to Israel they go only as tourists. Not coming to “explore” the Holiness of The Land so their eyes are closed. Many are so foolish these days they only speak about the defects they find in The Land. Making excuses for not living or even coming to The Holy Land to feeding their soul and fulfill the Biblical commandment to live in The Holy Land. It sounds like they are involved in the sin of the spies. It did not turn out well for them ? Those who portray an unfairly negative image of Israel within our society will be held accountable, look what happened to the spies in our parsha. They were thrown from greatness hard and fast .
We need to become zealous for Hashem and his Holy Land every Jew that possible can should move to the Holy Land and begin living the Holiest Life possible ! Live with zeal , in this weeks parsha a man named Tzlofchod goes out and gathers sticks on Shabbot in public deliberately and is sentenced to death
There are those who say Tzlofchod violated the laws of Shabot intentionally for the right reasons. He wanted to show the people the severity of Shabot violation. When people would see him stoned for desecrating Shabbos this sight would have a strong impact and act as a deterrent. There are three opinions which law of Shabot he transgressed: carrying four amot in the public domain, uprooting , maamer and heaping. (Gemora Shabbos 96b)
We see in the parsha even after the spies bring back a bad report and GOD is very disappointed with us, and wants to bring severe judgment. The intercession of Moshe saves us. R. Yochanon states ”wherever you find greatness you find meekness”. GOD wishes the world to acknowledge him, then He will suspend justice and retribution to further this end. For this reason we must appeal to GOD for mercy upon his people as the hour is ”dark”, as enemies surround us. With Divine intervention we will find protection and Peace. With a complete redemption with our righteous Messiah and the Holy Temple built Quickly in our days. AMEN
