Why is the parsha “Chayah Sara” (the life of Sarah) where Sarah died ?. Why is our parsha called “vayachi” (and lived) when in the parsha Yisrael passed away. Because it is as is said a sadeek is more alive when he has departed from his body, then when he has a body in this world. As it says in Perke Avot this world is just a corridor leading to the inner chamber. As only in this world does one have the opportunity to gather provisions for the other world. Provisions they will take with them when they meet their creator on the day of great reckoning as spoken of by Rebenu Bachyah.

In the Zohar HaKodesh we see that one is aware of things near the time of their passing more than at other times. We see this reflected in the parsha as it says “ It was told Yaakov that Yosef was coming into his chamber. Who told him ?, maybe this was by Ruach ha Kodesh. We also see this from the verse ”And Jacob called to his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.” One does have a higher awareness at the time of their passing. Yet the same verse concludes “Yisrael strengthened himself and sat up on his bed.” It is know that Yisrael is the name referred to Yaakov when he comes to a state of consciousness which is like Shabot, when he has minuchah (rest) from feelings of all anger and pain, but exists in a state of serenity as is tought by the Aor ha Chyim. In this one sentence where Yisrael speaks he goes from being Yaakov to Yisrael. As is mentioned before a person has a higher awareness at the time of their passing. How blessed is the passing of those who have prepared themselves to see the Shechinah. As this has been the only object of their life. Rabbi Snair Zalman said when the Russians put a gun to his head threatening him “ I have one God and 2 worlds”.

A man who sins and recieves “corait” (cut off) causes the cord of his nashama (Soul of Divine intellect) to be separated from him, leaving him only with a ruach ((Soul of Divine emotions) and a nefesh (animal soul).1 The gematria of corait=rashiam(evil doers). Rashiam turn mercy to judgment, sadeekem (Rightious person) do the opposite.2 The lowest place in

Gehenom (Hell) is called “Avadon”. Where souls never rise from but parish, heaven forbid, as when a soul receives “corait” all aspects of the nashama are cut off. “Rashiam” can take another person’s portion in Gehenom in addition to their own.3 Sadeekem when they pass on from this world see the light of the wheel of intellect. His nefesh is separated from his body according to the level of his cleaving in the light, he sees the light according to his Merit. 4 30 days before one dies there goes away then the makiff (Surrounding light) of their Nashama. In the moment he dies they all return. If the man passing is a Sadeek (Rightious person) there is a great “yichud” (unification) below of sparks and of surrounding lights.5 “Chuchamim” die in a way by which they are not slaughtered in a way disfiguring them with disease as others.6 If someone is buried on the day his soul departs in the Holy land the spirit of impurity has no dominion over over him at all. All who die do so by the angel of death, except those who die in in Aretz Yisrael (Land of Israel), who die by a angel of mercy. They ascend into “Kodesh Elyon” (Supernal Holiness)7 All buried in artz yisreal are as buried under the alter and are thus atoned for.8 One who lives outside “Aretz Yisrael” draws upon themselves a strange “Ruach”,one of impurity. When they die if their body is brought to “Aretz Yisrael” this is a abomination. They defile the land.9 The day of one’s death is called day of YHV”H.10 When the soul is ready to leave its body. It then asks leave of each limb, and its separation from the body is only with great violence. As it says in the Song of Songs “ Love as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as the grave”.11

The aspect of Yaakov called Yisrael is when He is at the level of not serving Hashem from emotions alone, but also with Divine intellect called Nashama. This is truly a thing beyond this world. This level of consciousness Allows one to live beyond the ways of this world. One who has attained this level called “Yisrael” lives in the upper worlds while still in this world, and continues after this life thus. His passing in “death” is as going from one room to the next. Or as the Gemora describes it that the passing of the righteous is like lifting a hair up that is floating on a cup of milk. While the passing of the wicked is like the removal of a hair from a course brush. As all they knew in life was this world, their body and its desires. One who has spiritual desires and actions while in this world continues with these in the life in the next world so its said in the Gemora “Yaakov did not die “.

Next Yisrael blesses Yosef, but before he does he says concerning Yosef’s sons מיאלה (who are these ?). These are the same letters as Elohem”e. It is a permutation of the letters of Elohem”e . Concerning מ”י the Sni Luchot ha Brit says that this name is the source of the Divine name Elohem”e. The Zohar tells us אל”ה refers to all created things. Thus Yisrael when seeing Yosef’s sons says מי אלה. Meaning that Yisreal when seeing Yosef’s sons designates them as being closely attached to the root of the creation in Elohem”e. As it will be through nature that Mashiach ben Yosef shall and may it be soon prepare the Jewish people by uniting them as a nation to contend with the natural enemy of Mashiach ben Yosef, Asev. By this we will be ready for the coming of Mashiach ben David, and may this be soon. Since the coming of Mashiach ben Yosef precedes that of the coming of Mashiach ben David. Yosef is blessed first. It says in Thilim “Who leads Yosef like a flock”. The sages learn from this that all Yisrael is called Yosef. Yisrael blesses Yosef saying “ The angel who redeemed me from all evil shall bless the lads”. By this blessing all Yisrael is redeemed from all evil, as shown before that all Yisrael is referred to as Yosef. So may is be that soon we see this blessing fulfilled with the revelation of mashiach Ben Yosef destroying our enemies and the arrival of Mashiach ben David and the building of the Holy Temple quickly in our days.

WHAT WILL GOD DO, WITH ME ?

The first thing is you need to know, recognize and see  is that you are not alone, ever. If one does not believe and know that God manifests in his own life and its providence. How can he have faith in the fact that God is involved in all that happens everywhere. Every day we encounter signs that point to an active Presence of Spirit. Everything that happens inside and outside of us is brimming with spiritual meaning, points of connection with Spirit. You need to find holiness in everyday life. By this also one may experience the mystical moment. One may see it or hear it, grasp it. Yet it has no form and is unseen and unheard being elusive and evasive. God presents Himself as the undefinable oneness. A glimpse of the Divine is every where. Seeing the patterns emerging in life awakens us. There is meaning in what happens to us in nature and the cosmos. In those things others see only as chance or strange coincidence.  . Although they have a subtle yet undeniable and uncanny quality. Here God reveals himself and then at once is concealed.Unfortunately most people don’t have a clue what’s going on. God is always trying to make contact but they can’t perceive this. The whole universe is there to support our spiritual awareness. The universe is saturated with purpose and meaning. Our universe is directed by a powerful, creative intelligence, and an ordering principle of truly astonishing power, complexity, and beauty. God can be observed in the constant regularity of the universe. We can see this wonder when looking at modern science concerning the wondrous exacting complexity at the atomic and cellular level. To the wonders of the movements of the stars planets and constellations. In these things also is evidence of the subtle truth of the Divine in Creation, of God. One of the great expressions of God is the natural flow of energy transformation in the universe. You need to realize the constancy and patterns occurring in your own life, as found in the deep nature of the universe. Awareness of this leads to recognition of one’s own immutable spiritual nature. God is behind all phenomena. Everything in the universe is directed by his “laws of nature”. Just as our own breath.Violation of this law leads to disaster. Try stop breathing for a while. Adherence to the law is blessing, by it we remain in harmony with God and his universe. The highway to elevated consciousness exists in recognizing the sacred in everyday life. It is a process of continually practicing self-awareness, paying greater attention to the contents of everyday experiences: sensations, thoughts and feelings. The awareness of our inner and outer lives. The human psyche and the cosmic psyche (soul) are entwined and expressed through patterns that are neither imagined nor directed by us, but rather guided by the mysterious force some call God. With this awareness comes freedom and responsibility. Know that the whole activity of nature is to make one aware of their soul, and its Divine nature. The goal is to manifest this divinity within. This can be done by work (as acts of kindness and other spiritual actions), developing spiritual powers such as the ability to pray, and by learning reading Divine knowledge. One continuously forms destiny. Each stage of life is the root of the next.

When you can see that God is there, everywhere. It makes it alot easier to rely upon his help, to ask for it. To know that he will come through for you. God sees and knows all. It can become as clear, as you know that your own father would do everything in his power to save your life. You will come to see that God is right there with you and will not fail you. You should know that a basic privilege that everyone has is a right to be successful. No matter who they are, where they find themselves, and to where they have fallen. They just must find the right thing to do from deep inside their heart, and go for it. The creator has placed our destiny and highest vison in the recesses of our years, you just need to discover it. But don’t come to think that just because God will help you it will be easy to accomplish your desires. You will still need to take up whatever idea it is that you want God to work with you upon and make this your life. Think upon it, dream of it, live on your idea. This is the art of certian victory, Know that this is the way to success, and this is the way that has produced people with great accomplishments. If what you desire to accomplish is for your good God then will help you succeed. Each person has gone through a certain amount of a “wild goose chase” trying to reach for things that are not theirs to take. God sometimes needs to modify our plans. Doors are opened and closed for our benefit. If something seems to be lacking, this is from God, and there are reasons for it. When you find yourself accomplishing your desired goal this will bring you to real trust in God. Then nothing can take it away. What ever your doing if God is with you you will succeed. God always wins. You just need to push forward. Chase after that which is your goal. If the way seems blocked towards your goal know that the peel comes before the fruit. They can be part of the process of growth itself that well lead you to what you want to achieve. These obstacles many times are only a vessel by which your success will mature through. The obstacles you face are really energy blocks that you can channel positively for personal enlightenment and achievment. Don’t give up and quit prematurely and then you will succeed in accomplishing your goal. You want help from on high. Ask God for help.  It begins by recognizing His Presence. In earlier generations there was no doubt. There were many  revealed miracles and prophets. In general, the later generations are run from a policy of concealment. Even if this whole world is created in a way which the Divine Presence, and knowledge of the existence of God is miraculously concealed. Miracles happen for people who know of both worlds. If you have doubts, you need more knowledge. Don’t misconstrue God’s ability with you. Don’t create obstacles between you and the truth. What ever you assume responsibility for you will be awarded power to deal with it. One person can even save the world, it has happened many times. To succeed you need to be strong, fortified, and triumphant in all the places that it is necessary to fight. Even if you have help from on high. Nothing good comes easy. So be a worrier for good.  But, do not be afraid to hold back or withdraw from a impossible position. Take your stand on ground where you cannot lose, position yourself so that you will succeed. Go along with good advice when it comes like following a current. There are 3 avenues of opportunity that of events trends and conditions. When opportunities happen through events respond actively to these opportunities, be smart. Act boldly when a trend comes to bring you benefit. Success comes from taking advantage of opportunities. Take advantage of the structure and momentum of situations. Then there will not happen to you the unexpected. But, be prepared anyway for the unexpected. Plan for difficulty in times of ease. Give thought to what is near at hand and conder that which is remote. If you dont concider that which is remote you will have trouble near at hand. Do the Great while it is still small. Just do your part and God will put the finishing touches on it, customize it, and take it all upstairs to complete the job. What ever it may be. Every single second the entire order of the worlds is changing. Presenting times of opportunity, to harmonize with the coming changes. Know natures timing. They rotate, orbit, and move in totally new paths, never known from genesis. They create fresh combinations, interactions, and interrelationships find what you have to do and go for it now. Do not think you can live on past virtues. There is no time like now. Be careful how you spend each day. You need to cultivate endurance. There is no time to be hesitant or indecisive. Of all the avenues of seeing success none is greater than in the unexpected. There is no room in success for procrastination.

One must fight with all their strength to enter into the secret of the God. What is it that you do? This is what you are. Accordingly this is what you will receive now or latter. What you do will come back to you. There is no doubt concerning this. The only questions are when, and how will these things effect your body and your life here, and your soul which is eternal. A good deed brings one result, and a bad deed another. Kindness will invite kindness from heaven which supports and protects. The Holy is by our hands and in our deeds. Always be gentle. This shows a level of refinement of your soul. Acts of exceptional wickedness and goodness bear fruit in this life. Plan to deal with difficulty when it is not so hard, do the great when it is still small. Deal with difficulties while they are still easy. Don’t wait for them to become a major problem. God sometimes sends us problems as a wakeup call. One who is aware may not have to be reminded from above. If one ignores God’s messages, He may need to send you “louder” messages. These being even more difficult situations. So don’t ignore these messages. Don’t create self created problems, misery or disaster. Many times the “problem” is only the way we look at things, as there is a completely different perspective. The one which is correct. Its better to avoid unnecessary problems in our lives. Know that every vicious thought will rebound. So avoid thoughts of hatred and jealousy. Blaming others does not bring your goals closer. Ignore the vicious  competition among people. They will one day come back to you with tremendous power. Once you set them in motion you will have to bear their fruit. Remember this and avoid much evil. Do not confuse evil for good. Misery that has not yet come is best avoided. Blaming statements can become self fulfilling prophesies of failure. The main thing is to work on those things that will bear fruit in the future, towards this end all our forces should be directed. Every one has heard the expression “be careful what you ask for you may get it”. When calling out to God if you are persistent you will be answered, but the results may be different than you anticipated. Especially if you are not doing what is expected of you or worse doing the opposite. It does not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expects from us. If you call out to draw God’s attention you will find it. Man brings upon himself what ever befalls him. Harm does not originate from God who is the source of all good. You need to accept that God really knows what He is doing in your life. Many times when we fall by misfortune this is only so that we can come to some thing better. Know, descent is for the sake of ascent. The husk precedes the fruit. The bigger the ascent one must come to, the bigger the descent that must precede it. So don’t obsess on the past and dwindle away by it,  use it as a springboard to achieve. Its up to you to turn each affliction and all its bits of suffering into fruitful stepping stones to blossom, flourish, and grow into new levels. Whatever the situation capitalize on it. Its like finding the treasure at the end of the rainbow. Go for it, and if you do not give up you will find it..

Work not in competition against your fellow but towards social cohesion amongst those near  you, your nation and all men. One must be in pursuit of a oneness with their humanity this is the first step in spirituality. Only a good person will be accepted to the inner chambers before God. The Divine Presence dwells only with the righteous. There are those who seemingly countless times they make schedules, agendas, itineraries accompanied with strong resolutions, decisions, and pledges to finally fulfill them – to no avail. Dont be as these, be reliable. At least make yourself like a person with whom you would be happy to befriend and associate with. When radiant joy and love emerge they are contagious. People like to keep in the company of such people. When looking at another person find and focus upon the good within them. A Divine thought is an action. Becareful to not misjudge people. So if you need to judge others do so in a scale of merit. This can actually arouse the good that was hidden within them. This is true even before the supernal court. So look at each person to see their good. Don’t embarrass people or bring them to shame.  Know each person in the world in a way is like a limb of one’s own body. So in a sense we are all responsible for one another, and even more the welfare of another in some way effects our own. So be supportive of people helping them with positive purposes with what ever they need. Don’t think about only what you want all the time. There are other people in the world besides yourself, and they need you. How would the body function if the heart decided it did not want to share its blood with the liver. realize that all are one. All the souls are collectively one supernal organism and giving to someone else is tantamount to giving to oneself. One has to nullify their own needs

I will begin by explaining to you a few things, and then we will examine “The Definitive Biblical phenomena”. There is a ancient teaching in the Oral tradition that the Bible is learned and explained by 32 methods. The 29th of these 32 methods is called gematria (numerology). It is taught that the numerical values of the Hebrew letters were given to Moses at Mount Sinai.

There is a expression “you cannot have your cake and eat it too”, but this does not apply to Torah. As we see from our equation :

By fulfilling the commands of the Torah we know we will be rewarded. As its written concerning reward of the Torah “ The fruits of which a man enjoys in this world, while the principle remains for him in the World to Come.” (Seder Zeraim, Tractate Peah: Chapter 1, Mishnah ) so we see fulfilling Torah has a reward in this world, but the greatest part of the reward will be in the world to come. The Spiritual life that will follow this existence. It is also interesting that Bina Divine understanding is known in Kabbalah as the “world to come”. Its also written “the reward of a mitzvah (command) is the mitzvah itself.” Mitzvah means “joining,” “attachment,” “connection.” Whoever performs a mitzvah becomes joined to the Essence of God – may He be blessed – the One Who issues that particular command. This is the meaning of “The reward of a mitzvah is the mitzvah (itself)”: 1 When one performs a mitzvah, he/she becomes attached to the Ultimate Goodness and Essence of the Eyn Sof (infiniteness of God) Who ordained the command – and that is in itself reward. Which again is like our equation:

Reward of Yhv”h Adon”y (Lord God)= Torah

Also by fulfilling the commandments from this we see their reward will be more “Torah”. Revelation of Divine wisdom.

Reward of the God (Elohe”m) = Torah (611)

In the previous equation we saw concerning spiritual reward from fulfilling Torah, from Torah. As the spiritual , supernatural is from the divine name Yhv”h. Our new equation gives us a proof that the reward of Torah is not only as shown in the last equation in the “world to come”., but there is reward in this world also as our equation demonstrates by the Divine name האלהי”ם. as it is know that it is this name that the God manifest in this world what we call “nature” rather than the “Supernatural” which is the manifestation of יהו”ה as said before. So our equation :

Reward of the God (Elohe”m) = תורה(611)

Shows us Torah all so has benefits for us in this world that is under the ruling of אלהי”ם. We can read it the other way also that האלהי”םwill reward you with Torah if you follow the Law.

בנשמה(397) + רוח(214) = 611 = תורה

Spirit in Soul = 611 = Torah

A major fixing a man must make in this world is to join his head with his heart. Join his intellect with his emotions. Or as our equation says :

Spirit in Soul = 611 = Torah

The Spirit in Hebrew is the level of soul called “Ruach”, it is the emotional soul. While the ‘Soul” referred to here in Hebrew is “Nashama”, the soul of Divine intellect. By the Torah one can come to feel what they think. So our equation :

Spirit in Soul = 611 = Torah

Shows us that Torah puts the “Ruach”, emotional soul in the “Nashama” soul of Divine intellect.

נשמה(395) + דברי(216) = 611 = תורה

Words of the soul = 611 = Torah

We know from the Talmud in Tractate Niddah that fetuses learn Torah from a angel, while they are in their mother’s womb. An angel teaches the fetus the entire Torah. When it is born, an angel touches its upper lip and it forgets all of its learning. This is why our equation says :

Words of the soul = 611 = Torah

The words of the Torah are not something external but are already words of our Nashama, Soul of Divine intellect. They are that which we learned before we came into this world. Learning is really a matter of remembering the Torah that we learned when we were in a “pure” state in the womb of our mother.

From his place of peace = 611 = Torah

God does not have a place. The whole world is his place as its written “Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.” (Yeshayahu 6:3) We do place Him in our minds during our meditation on Torah. Place “Makom” when it concerns God is referring to the greatness of His portion in existence. Wherever makom is applied to God, it expresses the same idea, namely, the nature of His existence with a given reality. Thus Rashi, the prolific sage called God “makom”. This is reflected by the verse “Behold, a place (makom) is with me” (Exod. 33:26). Our equation :

From his place of peace = 611 = Torah

Is referring to a ultimate expression of God called “Shalom”. “Shalom” is a name of God. It is Holy and cannot be spoken in a unclean place. Just like verses of Torah cannot be spoken in such a place. As the God is in the Name “Shalom” and words of Torah. The whole Torah is said to be a Name of God. Peace is the seal of all blessings because all prosperity is worthless without it. (Sifra, Bechukotai) Thus the Amidah (daily meditation), Bircat Hamazon (prayer after food) and Bircat Kohanim (Biblical priests blessing) all conclude with the blessing of peace. Similarly we find that R. Shimon b. Chalafta said, “The Holy One, blessed is He, could find no vessel that would hold Israel’s blessings as well as peace.” (Uktzin 3:12) The value of peace is cannot even be stated. It is the key to redemption. “May He who makes peace in His heights make peace upon us and upon all Israel. Amen!” The Torah is the “place” of God where dwells the ultimate blessing that which contains all others called “peace”. Thus our equation states :

PARZUFIM

General Parzufim

There are 5 parzufim of Atzilut. Each contains 5 parzufim. Each has 613 parts and is in the image of man.1 These parts include 248 limbs and 365 sinews. Each parzuf has 7 ”Hachalot” (palaces). Each and every parzuf of A”k, Atzilut Bria Yetzera and Asiyah includes the parzufim called : Brain, Bone, Sinews, skin and  parzuf Flesh. 2 The 11 spices of incense correspond to 11 gaps between the parzufim. Rabbi Yakov Abuchitzera teaches that there are 11 main sparks, curses, and spices in the incense and they correspond to Abba, imma, Yisrael Saba, Tevunah and the 7 sefirot of Zu’n of Bria Yetzera and Asyiah.3 11 sefirot are 11 aspects of the kings who died. They are 7 from Zu”n and 4 from the back of Abba Imma and Yesoit.4 Rabbi Shalom Sharabi teaches מ”החדש went out to make tikun of All the parzufim of Atzilut cleansing Atzilut of Nikudot. Making klipa Noga of Atzilut (real soul food-מ”החדש made and makes the sparks rise) being The Nashama and its life force. Making Klipot Nogah of Bria of Good and Evil. So to in Yetzera and Asiyah. Purifying the 7 kings that died. They being ו”ה =11. As the “kidusha” in the klipa is devided into 11 aspects. These are 10 sefirot “penimi”, Being the Nashamot and the life force in them, And one “makiff ” upon them. Parralel to these are the 11 spice of Incense.5 All 10 of the sefirot is a complete parzuf except Teferet Dat and Yesod. Each of these includes 2 parzufim. So 9 sefirot are 12 parzufim. (Bina, Chuchmah, Dat-2 Chesed,Givurah,Teferet-2,Netzauch,Hod,Yesod-2) 6 There multiplies on the face of the earth 12 פנים (faces), 12 Holy parzufim to the Nashamot.7 Each parzuf is made of all 5 making a total of 25 parzufim.8 Each of these 25 pazufim is made of 5 parzufim making a total of 125.9 All Parzufim of Bria, Yetzera and Asiyah go out of Zu’n of Atzilut.10 The 5 parzufim in Bria are as in Atzilut except Arich and Abba of Bria have only 6 corners, but Imma in Bria is a complete parzuf of 10 sefirot, She has only one ”makiff”. Z”a of Bria has 2 ”makiff”. In Yetzera Arich and Abba are in the aspect of only 3 sefirot on 3 sefirot . Imma, Teferet and Malchut of Yetzera each have only 6 corners. Imma of Yetzera has no “makiff”, Tereret has one ”makiff,and Nakavah has 2. In Asiyah Abba is only a small point, but Arich is 3 sefirot included in 3 as the rest of the sefirot of Asiyah except Abba. This is becouse in Asiyah Arich is the middle pillar.11 All the parzufim must be refined as they are made of vessels and sparks of the 7 kings of ”Olam Nikudim” that shattered to 320 aspects.  Atzilut is shut in the “reshimu”. The world is according to vessels and not lights. From Yesod is the aspect of the body, inside is the soul. A”k of Atzilut, Bria, Yetzera and Asiyah is the tip of the י of 4 יהו “ ה.12 There are names of יהו “ ה in Binna, Z’a and Nakavah. They are drawn from אלהי “ ם . Every יהו “ ה is the aspect of eyes. This is the idea of round letters.13 After tikun the source of ב “ ן is in Nakavah of A”k. From the Yesod of A”k goes a drop of “mym duchrin”, which is the secret of the name מ “ ה . מ”ה is the Yesod of “duchrah”. מ”ה goes out of the forehead of A”k. This is the idea of dominance of the Nashama.14 The Shomer Emunim, R. Argosi teaches that the essence of Godliness is תפשו (simple) It is not separated from Atzilut, as it is not divided.into portions. The Keter of A”k is אחדותפשות (simple unity). It has no relationship with any Divine names written in the Torah. Out of it unfolds a multitude of aspects. Keter of A”k is a vessel of Ayn Sof. It is as the parchment of the Torah is written on before any letters are inscribed. A”k is before all eminations. From the 10 sefirot of A”k are eminated 10 sefirot of Atzilut. The sefirot of A”k and Atzilut are all renewed completely. Its as lighting one candle as another. ”kav Yosher” dresses in A”K. Light decends from A”k to Atzilut. There is a portion of Ayn Soff in A”k and not by ”histosholut” (gadual unfolding), but only the Ayn Soff has power to create “yash-miAyin”. The Ayn Soff renews Atzilut, but to the Ayn Soff there is no changes or renewal. Ayn Sof is רצון (will). A”k does have the aspect of vessels but they are of very fine light. With A”k is no aspect of ”Zachor” or ”Nakavah”. Also with Atik of Atzilut is no ”Zachor” and ”Nakavah” only face and back. Keter of Arich is Zachor, Chuchmah of Arich is Nakavah. Zachor and Nakavah do find their source in ע“ב Chuchmah and ס“ג Binna of A”k. These give birth to מ ” ה of A”k. The ”penimi” and “Atzmut” of A”k we do not have permission of discuss or to be occupied in. Only what He eminates flowing through wholes and windows. These being the Ears , Eyes, nose, mouth and other parts of the head of A”k. In Ayn Soff and A”k there is no form at all. The Vessels of Atzilut have no limit or Measure, not a physical one. Their only restrictions are according to intellect. Before there was eminated A’”k there was Nothing. There was no aspect of זמן (time). The sefirot of Atzilut are above ”sedar Zamanim” (order of times). The sefirot themselves do not have the Existance of time ”mammash”. Ketter is The Torah before creation of the world. This is Z”a. The 2000 years before creation are Abba and Imma.15 From Yosher of A”k went our many lights going out from the ears,nose, mouth. Lights of the mouth of A”k are called “olam Akudim” (Malchut A”k). These are the lights of “yosher” alone, they do not have a aspect of “Iggulim”. There are lights from the eyes of A”k called “Akudim” these do have aspects of “Yosher” and “Iggulim”. These lights stand from the back of A”k until the feet and are called Nh”y A”k. (Light of the eyes of A”k is Chuchmah its ע “ב of A”k, but at the feet its Nh”y from chuchmah of A”k)16 A”k is one יהו “ ה , its brain י is ע “ב. Its ה is the ear of A”k and reaches till the feet, it is ס “ג.. The ו is מ “ ה and goes out of the forehead of Ak. The final ה is ב”ן and is “Nikudim”.17 The light of the eyes of A”k is revealed in the world of “nikudim” which is from the Belly of A”k and below. At the belly is מ “ה of A’k this is the ג “ר of Nikudim. ב”ן of A”k is the 6 corners of Nikudim. Then this light is channeled through the 8 dikna of the beard. The vessels that broke were from the eyes of A”k.18 Rabbi Shalom Sharrabi teaches that The “kav Yashar” dresses in Chuchmah and Binna of A’k through the parzufim. Including all parzufim until Malchut of Atzilut. Where there is made a מסך (screen-filter) that forms Atik of Bria. All parzufim of Bria receive from Binna of A’k, and Binna of Atzilut. This is Binna possessing in the Thrown. The lights decend throught the Parzufim dressing until Malchut of Bria where there is made a 2nd מסך. Z’a of A’k, Atzilut and Bria decend through the מסך to make Atik of Yetzera and all 5 parzufim of Yetzera. A 3rd מסך is made from Malchut of A’k, Atzilut , Bria, Yetzera. Through this מסך decends the 7 lower lights of Malchut of Yetzera which makes Atik of Asiyah and all 5 parzufim of Asiyah. This is the idea of Malchut possessing in a אופן .19 All 5 Parzufim of Atzilut is only the aspect of “6 corners” compared to A’k, being all from מ “ה of A’k and below (Atzilut is from the yichud of Abba and Imma of A”k, it is Z”a of A”k) . The 5 parzufim of A”k draw light of Ayn Soff for the parzufim of Atzilut.The Ayn sof illuminates until the first 3 sefirot of Yesoi”t. ה”אליהו”ה is Arich Abba and Imma. Zu”n rises by tikun in Abba and Imma in By”a parzuf in parzuf. After tikun by Abba and Imma Zu’n rises to tikun in Arich. By this way is made all purifications until reaching their place in A”k. The 5 parzufim of Atzilut then can receive flow from ע “ ב of A’k, this is called revelation of “mochin” called “chayah”. This is when the Nashamot of Saddekem rise up to the belly of  Arich of Atzilut. The ruach can rise to Nakavah of Atzilut, and the Nefesh rises up to Briah. The parzuf of Nakavah called Rachel begins in the back of the chest of Z’a where there stands the conclusion of the Yesod of Imma in Z’a. 5 Chassadim spread in Z’a from the Yesod of Imma which is at his chest to below, as there is the place of revealed Chassadim. From here its possible for the Chitzon to seize so its called “Atz dat”(This is the yesod of imma at the chest of Z”a-Atz Dat). Chassadim are dat of Z”a. The Chassadim are called “stomim” (closed) above the chest of Z’a are covered in the Yesod of Imma. The Yesod of Imma is as a tent or “succah”.20 This is good as here the klippot can not nourish. “Chitzon” and “Klipa” only seize from the back so they are called אלהיםאחרים . Even from the face of Nakavah the “chitzon” cannot feed  Only from her back.21 The Dat of Z’a is called ”stomim”, so it does not need to be guarded. There is no seizing of it from the Sitra Achra. It is called water. The Chassadim of Z’a are of 3 aspects called נס ” ע. In the head of Z’a are 5 Chassadim each having 10 aspects making a total of   ”נ” 50 chassadim. These spread out in Z’a. “ס” 60 Chassadim are covered in the Yesod of Imma. In the first 1/3 of Teferet Z’a are the closed ”stomim”  Chassadim. In the lower 2/3 of Teferet of Z’a are the ”ע” 70 revealed Chassadim.These 70 are made of 18 Chassadim from Teferet and 52 chassadim from Netzauch and Hod. Malchut is only built by what is raised called “aorot nakavot” (feminine lights), even the aspect of chassadim (are raised in Nakavah).22 The Chassadim “stomim” (concealed – closed) are from the chest of Z’a and above where there is  there the “mesach” of the Yesod of Imma. The revealed chassadim are from the chest and below. First there spreads out chassadim in Z’a, then givurot. From this is made the middle pillar. The chassadim spread in Z’a from dat and below.23 The Yesod of Imma is as a tent of “succah”.24 Chasadim cover the 2 arms, which are wings allowing one to rise from Asiyah to Yetzera. The Chassadim of the 2 arms are “stommim” (closed), they cannot be revealed below. The source of these Chassadim is in Dat. These Chassadim spread out and lights are renewed from them.25 3 Chassadim fell from the Yesod of Imma to the Yesod of Z’a. These are the Chassadim of Teferet, Netzauch and hod.26 3 chassadim fell from the Yesod of Imma into the Yesod of Z’a. These being Chaga”t of N”h and teferet of Z’a. The 3 givurot that are sweetened are called ”children”. The other 2 givurot below are aspects of N”h, they are not sweetened. They are 2 Hvyh of ב ” ן . As the Chassadim rise above they sweeten also these 2 givurot. Givurot not sweetened are ”dinim gimorim”. There seizes in them the ”chitzonim”.27 The first 3 sefirot of Yesoi”t can recieve Chuchmah of Abba and Imma even if it is without Chassadim. Only in the 7 lower sefirot of Yesoi’t Chuchmah can’t illuminate without Chassadim. In its first 3 sefirot it can.  Abba and Imma can draw to themselves Chuchmah from ”Chuchmah Stima” of Arich even without Chassadim. The lower 7 sefirot of Yesoi’t require Chassadim to draw Chuchmah, as Chuchmah is full of ”dinim” making ”Machlacot” between the right and the left. Its nessesary for Z’a to raise ”mym nukvin uniting the right and left. Raising ”mym nukvin” to Yesoi’t unites the Right and left ”kav” of Yesoi”t including Chuchmah in Chassidim. Then Chuchmah can illuminate. 28

It’s taught in Chasdei David Chesed of Arich illuminates the Yesod of Atik in Dat of Arich, which illuminates the מצח (forehead) of Arich which is Chesed in the mouth of Imma. It is the “will of wills” of the מצח . From the מצח of Arich illuminate the 8th “dikna” of Arich, נוצר which is רצון , that illuminates the מצח of Abba and Imma. From there to the מצח of Z’a illuminates till the eye of Z’a. Thus giving ability to look into the מצח of Arich by its light. 29 All 10 sefirot of Atzilut go out from the wholes of the eyes of A”k. First they went out without tikun (fixing-this is igullim). Then with tikun (yoshar). First A”k eminated ”iggulim”, the aspect of Nefesh of A”k The 10 “iggulim” of A”k encompass and surround the “makiff ” (surrounding light) of  “yosher”. After there went out ”yosher” the ruach of A”k.  The “Makiff” of “aor yosher” of  A”k surrounds upon the 10 sefirot “Iggulim” of Atik. The 10 “Iggulim” of Atik surround the “aor makiff” of “Yosher” of Atik. The Makiff of “Yosher” of Atik surrounds the “Iggulim” of Arich. The 10 “iggulim” of Arich surround the “Aor Makiff” of “Yosher” of Arich. “The Aor makiff” of “Yosher” of Arich surround the 10 “Iggulim” of Abba and Imma. “Aor makiff” of “Yosher” of Abba surrounds the 10 “Iggulim” of Imma, and these surround the “Yosher” of Imma. The “aor Yosher” of Imma surrounds the Iggulim of Z’a. The “iggulim” of Z’a  surround the “Makiff Yosher” of Z”a.30 Cleansing is becouse of Malchut, the aspect of ”din” that goes in them. The 320 sparks of z’a rise to Bina. There are 5 more sparks of chaga’t and nh’y of Bina. These will be raised with the comming of masiach. May that day come quickly G-d willing. The greatness of all parzufim is by rising Malchut to Bina. So Bina decends to the ”parsa”, and Z’a rises to the place of Bina.31 The 5 parzufim adorn each other as garments. Nakavah opens openings to Z’a dressing to it, Z’a dresses to Yesoi’t, Yesoi’t to Abba and Imma and Abba and Imma dress to the 7 lower sefirot of Arich. Yesoi”t dresses to the belly of Arich. Yisreal Saba to the right, tevunah to the left. From the throat to the belly of Arich dresses Abba and Imma. The throat of Arich is Binna. Here is the conclusion of the Yesod of Atik (delight of Atik ends at understanding רצון ). Abba is on the right and Imma is on the left beneath Arich. Abba and Imma dress in Arich from His throat until the parsa of arich. Z’a dresses from the belly of Arich. All the parzufim of Atzilut have a head with aspect of Chaba’d except Arich which has only Ketter and Chuchmah. They are the Skull and ”moch Stima”. Bina is not in the head of Arich only in the throat. From this aspect Bina is called Keter as it is a crown to Abba and Imma. Also in this way the ג “ ר of Arich is different from other parzufim whose head is organized as 3 pillers, while Arich has Keter on top of Chuchmah, and Binna is below in the throat. The head of Arich is structured this under that. Chesed of Chuchmah of Arich enters and goes until the end of the throat of Arich. Dat of Arich is beneath Bina. It decends below the throat of Arich. Dat includes 5 Chassadim and 5 Givurot.32 The 3 heads of Ketter are called חד “ ר (“chesed, din , Rachamim”). Even though ketter is all Rachamim.33 Atik is known by ”apiryon”.34 The Kamarna Rebbe teaches that the ”apiryon” of Atik are (control) Keter Chuchmah Bina. “apiryon” of Z’a are Chesed Givurah and Teferet. While the ”apiryon” of Nakavah are Netzauch Hod and Yesod.35 The head of Arich has Chuchmaha and Bina נעלם . The head of Z’a is Chuchmah and bina mammash. Keter on the head is hairs in the skull. This is נזרקודש called אליהונזר . These hairs draw from above down to the shoulders being Chesed and Givurah. So Chesed and Givurah are enjoined by Chuchmah and Bina.36

Atik is the aspect of delight. Atik includes everything within itself. It is a aspect of revelation of Ayn-soff in the “midot” of Z”a. Accordingly from delight is drawn revelation of Radl”a, by this is the true “gadlut” of Z’a. All this is from Bina called Ima who draws the yichud of all Atzilut. Abba is Chuchmah, which is the essence of “bitul” (nullification). Bina builds upon this “Bitul”. Keter relates only in the aspect of  “bitul”.37

Parzufim are completed in the secret of their ”hairs”. This is done by rising Malchut to Bina, Chuchmah and Keter by the hairs of the head. (raising aspects of the parzuf, resulting in decent of “aor Yosher”) The hairs of the ”dikna” (beard) go to Malchut , Teferet and Binna. Half of Bina Teferet and Malchut fell out of the head and cleave to the lower jaw in the secret of the hairs of the ”dikna”, becouse they fell from the level of hair of the head there is in them more ”dinim”.  All this is the aspect of the vessel of the hair. The light of them is drawn from ”Chuchmah Stima”. From the “kotze d share” (tip of hair) of Arich goes out “moch stima”. All the hairs are fine hallow tubes. From their end goes out flow. By way of the hairs light is drawn to the parzuff below. Through these lights are made 13 ”kotze d share” from portions of the light of Chuchmah, Bina , Dat. The vessels their source is according to the light in them. In them are 3 vessels of Keter Chuchmah and half of Bina.38 The ”mesach” (curtain) of the Parzuf is also called rekia. It is according to the rising of Malchut to Bina. Judgements of the ”mesach” of ו “chereek” push the serpent away from nourishing from the left pillar. In general there are 3 “mesach” (curtains) in Atzilut.

Tzimzum א is at the belly of A’k.39 The first  rekia is at The place of the mouth of Arich, it is Malchut of “din”. This “mesach” serves Atik. It is the source of All. There goes out Bina, Teferet and Malchut (of Chaba”d) from Arich to Abba and Imma. Here is made a closing to Chuchmah. Abba and Imma need “Zivug elyon” in the mouth of Arich in the secret of the letters גיכ “ק (letters from lips) and אחה “ ע (letters from throat) . This provides for their “mochin”.  The rest of the head of Arich (as atik is in tzizum א )Ketter and Chuchmah alone. This is called the first rekia, Atik is not included in Tzimzum ב (as this is tzimzum א) . As Atik is the aspect of “reaching down not reaching down”. In The “rekia” in the chest of Arich goes out Binna Teferet and Malchut of Chaga”t of Arich to Yesoi”t of Z’a.40 They are judgments of ”tzimzum” ב . From it goes out from the power of raising the ”mesach” of Bina. (pushing it up to a higher place of revelation, and away from the place of the klipot)41 Raising Malchut to Bina is ”tzimzum” ב.42 Tzizum ב rises מ “ ה of A”k to ס “ ג of A”k.43 According to the conclusion of Tzimzum ב is the going out of Bina Teferet and Malchut (Chaga”t of Arich to Yesoi”t of Z’a) in their decent to all levels below. Zu’n is not enjoined to recieve the supernal light becouse there rules over it (the supernal light) the Malchut of “Tzimzum” א .(as it relates to the nanhaga of Malchut)44 A “rekia” is in the water dividing between Z’a and “kadosh Kadoshim” which is Arich and Abba.45 Through the “mesach” of Atzilut light dresses to Bria as light goes out of the feet of Atik transcending the feet of Arich until illuminating the feet of Zu’n. The “mesach” from Atzilut to Brea is made from Binna which is called שפה (flow). From it goes out הבל breath and קול (voice). 46 In Z’a the ”klippot” only damage in the realm of ”tzimzum” ב, becouse in ”tzimzum” א Z’a is internal vessels.(which are not susceptible since this is nature itself, no freewill exists at this level of chuchmah) This is the secret of, man was created ”Yashar”. The “aor Yashar”  of “Tzimzum” א of Zu’n is upon the Nefesh Ruach and Nashama of Sadeekem. The “Reshimu” of “Tzimzum” א is Malchut of Abba and Imma (soul called Chyah the Nashama is from Yesoi”t), which is the ג “ר of Binna. “Tzimzum” א is Akudim of A”k. “Zimzum” ב rises Malchut to Binna which is Yesoi’t.47 From “tzizum” א there blossoms in all worlds Arich, Abba and Imma.(as this is tzimzum of Abba who is Always with Imma) From “tzimzum” ב is revealed Yesoi’t and Zu’n of Atzilut.48 Nakavah has no internal vessel. (The Ruach has certain attained set midot that will not degrade, not so the nefesh. Its personality is not so defined but is impressionable. The Nefesh incarnates from tzimzum א, din doesnt change easy) 49 Malchut itself is not enjoined to ”mochin” of ”Aor Yashar”, as it is from “tzimzum” א . Its tikun is from rising and being included in Rachamim which is Bina50 In Nakavah are 2 points one sweetens in Bina and is Rachamim. (it is included in the aor Yoshir of Malchut, the Rachamim of Bina is its source) The second point is called “locked” is the judgment of “tzimzum א “, which is without sweetening. The first point is called open the second locked. If a man does not merit it is locked. The second point is not enjoined to the supernal light, becouse the “tzimzum” is so great upon it. (As this is Tzizum of Binna, revealing regulating revelation to all below. This aspect of animal nature can’t be fixed-changed easily) The supernal light is only recieved by the first point of Malchut called open. Which hided the second point within the first. According to the revelation of the second point it rules (the Nashama must express it self throught the Nefesh, one’s given according to their nature Nefesh of Nefesh). Of these 2 aspects of Malchut one is right and one is left. According to this correction of Malchut there is enjoined to receive “mochin”. There are 2 forms of judgment of Nakavah of the mesach dchereek open and closed. The main aspect is the katnut which is called ”locked”. This is the aspect of Malchut of tzimzum א. It recieves Chuchmah from rising the locked mesach. The mesach called ”open” is in partnership with Bina. The Malchut of Sadeekem recieves from duchrin and raises up mym nukvin. Both are from tohu haNashama. Then Malchut arrouses lights of Chuchmah of the left for needs of the Nashama. Thus there is arroused the rule of the left., its lights return and are closed. They dont go out to all below. It is not able to give birth becouse all the covering. Chuchmah is called אין Hashem arrouses judgements of Nakavah from the mesach dchereek from the first 3 lights of the left. These are 2 kinds of judgments from the mesach dchereek. Even if there are 2 points of Malchut in the earth they illuminate as a wheel in a wheel. The wheel that is locked and concieled is within the wheel that is open (Malchut Yosher is makiff to Malchut iggulim). The “ofan” is a wheel of the “Markava”. The “ofan” draws from the 4 camps of the Shachinah. This level siezes to that level by level, above to below. Completing one in another.51 “ofanim” are in Nh’y of  Z’a. This is the place of Nakavah of Z’a. The Chayot of Z’a are at Chaga’t of Z’a . All is according to what is received from above.52 The hair of the ”dikna” are the attribute of Judgment of the 9 ”tikunim” of Z’a from the 13 of Atik which illuminate the ”dikna” of Z”a. The “dikna” of Z”a and Arich  are “makiff” the head.53 The ”dikna” of Z’a are dependent upon the ”dikna” of Arich.54 Mashiach by Yosef and David are the hands of atik. These hands join as one hand. 2 sets of 13 dikna spread from arich. Tikun 8 and 13 spread till abba associating in Dat. Illuminating in 2 ו in Dat and Teferet of Z’a.55 We find sometimes they are united as 22 “dikna” from above to below. Yisrael Saba, which is Z’a is blessed in these 22 ”Tikunim” and then called Yisrael. These are the corrections of Atik who desires to  reveal what has not yet been revealed.56 13 fountains of the beard of Atik in Z’a together make up 22.57 As when there was split the sea there needed to be revealed the light of Chuchmah in the secret of the 72 names. This was drawn through the 13 ”tikuney dikna”. Through ”mazel elyon” which is the 8th ”tikunney dikna”.58 “Chesed Elyon” dresses in ketter of Arich from there dressing to the 13 “mazel” of Arich . The “rekia” (firmament) on “Gan Aden” is Dat (skin of the Nashama is at chest of Arich). It is “mazel Elyon” which goes from the 3 “mochin” of Atik to the head of Z’a. From this Dat is drawn all 22 letters of the Torah.59 “Aden” Is illuminated by “Aden Elyon” which is “Chuchmah Stima” of Arich, which is not revealed. The lower “Aden” is Binna (of Yetzera) which returns to Chuchmah of Yesoi”t, and opens to 32 paths of Chuchmah.60 The 32 paths shine becouse of the precious “mazel”. Atik illuminates by “mazel”. This illumination is the Chuchmah that expands in 32 paths. The river of Bina is produced by the 32 paths. It flows out to water the garden. It goes into the head of Z’a and becomes “moch Chuchmah”. In Z’a it makes another brain of Binna. Chabad of Z’a illuminates “mazel”. Chuchmah of the 32 paths is called “Aden”. Chuchmah of the 32 paths is the very beginning. It is Abba and Imma which is united to Chuchmah, Givurah and Teferet of Z’a.61 The dikna go out of Chuchmah of ”moch Stima” arich then over Abba and Imma but dont dress within them.  These 13 pillers stand above in 7 firmiments. ”Zivug” of Abba and Imma is by way of Dat which is the 13th tikun of ”mazel”. It is 3 names ע ” ב .  From there the ”chesed Elyon” dresses to dat of Abba and imma, then to Z’a and Nakavah.62 “Zivug” of Abba and Imma is called “kodesh”63 Connecting the dikna of Atik to dikna of Z’a to Nakava are the 24 ”sarufim” of אדנ ” י .64 The Magid of Koznitz teaches Yisrael rises above in thought by this they make and fill the 13 ”Tikuny Dikna”.65 The “dikna” go out of 2 names י “ ה that are from 2 names אלהי “ ם .66 Nakavah herself has no “diknah”. As from her hair grasps ”din” that’s permitted to it. If there were Dikna in Nakavah they would join to much klippa.67 From the Chest of Arich and below dresses Z’a. This is why Teferet is always called heart. Here begins the head of Z’a. Atik knows its place which is only until Abba and Imma. From there starts the revelation of mazel through Z’a called אלהי ” ם who spreads in 32 paths.68 The Yesod of Arich, and Yesod Abba and Imma is called חלון (window). The window of Abba and Imma is smaller than of Arich.69 Yesod is called ”mazel”. ”Chuchmah Stima” of Arich is only revealed by the union of the 2 ”mazolot” נוצר and ונקה . They are called the brain of Dat that includes Chesed and Givurah. “Mazel” נוצר is Teferet and Chassadim. ”mazel” נקה is Yesod and the 5 Givurot. There are 2 kinds of Chuchmah. the first is of 32 paths that flows as a river, having no interuption. The 2nd aspect of Chuchmah is of ”oar Yashar” its 4 ”mochin” of Chuchmah from Aba and Ima called ”drops”, being Chuchmah, Bina , Chesed and Givurah. This is not drawn like water, but only drops at a time infrequently from the Yesod of Abba and Imma. They illuminate from יההו.70

In “olam ha Tikun” the hairs of the head of Arich of Atzilut which are ears, nose and mouth (of Abba and Imma) fell to a lower level being Abba and Imma of Atzilut. This is the secret of Abba and Imma in “mazel”. This is where they dress in “katnut” (smallness), but in time of “gadlut” (greatness) they make “zivug” (unification) of ע “ ב and ס “ ג of A”k. ׁ”גס of A”k decends from the “peot” until the conclusion of the “dikna”. There also decends the Malchut from the “peot” of the head of Arich. Then there returns as one Abba and Imma to the head of Arich, and there is recieved “Chuchmah Stima” from the head of Arich. In a time of “katnut” the upper levels fall below into the ears nose and mouth, while the lower level rises up. Yesoit rises to Abba and Imma through ears nose and throat of Abba and Imma. Zu”n rises to Yesoi”t through the ears nose and mouth of Yesoi”t. All rising below to above is through the hairs of the “dikna” of Arich raising  Abba and Imma to the head of Arich. All rises below to above and there goes out all “mochin” of Aby”a from the “parzuf “ of the hairs of Arich.71 We must raise up the lower parzuff to the higher, that is its source for cleansing.72 The larger the fitting of parzufim together the greater conection between them. The “penimi” of a lower parzuf will dress to the “Chitzon” of the parzuf above it. Later it can rise to dress to the “penimi” of the upper parzuf. All parzufim and all worlds are united. So all rises together, this with that until Attika Kadisha rises to A”k. This occurs in “ibor”, “yonika” and “mochin”. “Ibor”  and “yonika” are vessels of “chitzon” and “middle”. These states are back to back so are not ready for Zivug. Zu’n recieves from Yesoi’t “ibor”, “yonika” and “mochin gadlut reshon” this is tikun of Zu’n by Bina through Yesoi’t. Z”a only has “Zivug” with Nh”y Imma when it has the “penimi” vessel (“Yoled-gadlut”). Dat of Zu”n has only 2 vessels “Yonika” and “gadlut” (ibor-katnut has no Dat) . The tikun of parzufim is by ”zivug” and ”ibor”. The 7 lower sefirot of a higher parzuf can fit in to the one beneath, the lower parzuf has no vessel for the upper 3 sefirot.73 All 10 sefirot of Zu’n each and every sefira has a aspect of ibor, yonika and mochin. The “mochin” of “yonika of Katnut” is never lacking from Z’a. It’s possible for Z’a to have “ibor of gadlut”(its always growing). “Zivug” in the aspect called “Nashamot”is when there goes in “mochin gadlut” to Zu”n of Atzilut from Abba and Imma of Atzilut, with this is also “mochin Gadlut” to Abba and Imma of Bria. The lower “zivug” of Yesoi”t alone only gives “mochin Yonika” to Zu”n.of Atzilut 74

REDEMPTION DEPENDS ON YUHUDA MAKING TIKUN WITH YOSEPH

In the beginning of our parsha when Yosef tells his brothers that Benyamin must stay because the chalice was found in his bag. Yuhuda makes the tikun (fixing) for his past behaviour of abandoning his brother and selling him as a slave, by volunteering his own life as he says “ Let me remain as a slave, but let the lad go ”. Thus he does the opposite of the transgression he made against Yosef which caused such grief to his father Yisrael. As with Yosef who he sold into slavery, here he offers himself as a slave. Yuhuda does the opposite of the transgression making a complete tikun. After this Yosef reveals himself. The redemption will come unexpectedly as the revelation of Yosef to his brothers. It is also interesting that just about everything that happened to Yaakov happened to Yosef. This one was hated by his brother and that one was also hated. Both had a brother who wanted to kill them. It is written that Yosef looked just like Yaakov. Its also interesting to note that Yaakov tricked his father Yitzchak taking the blessing away from Asev by wearing Asev’s coat deceiving his father Yitchak. Later Yaakov himself is deceived with his Son Yosef’s coat when Yuhudah brings it back bloody and pretends Yosef is Dead. And finally Yuhudah can get back his belongings from the women who he gave them to. Yuhudah said “I was fooled by the women who wanted a goat”. Safer ha Yashir says that when Yakov’s sons returned from Egypt and wanted to inform Yakov that Yosef was alive and the ruler of Egypt they were afraid their father may die from shock on hearing this news so they had Serach the daughter of Asher play music to Yakov and sing “Yosef lives and rules Egypt”. Yakov said to Serach “The mouth that told me Yosef lives shall not taste death. Serach was one of those who left Egypt entered the Holy land and lived till the time of King David. She was the “wise woman” who turned Sheva ben Bichri over to Joab, She also did not die but entered Heaven alive ! After seeing Yuhudah sell his brother Yosef one might think that he would be the last person from whom God would choose the Messiah to come from but Mashiach precisely comes from Yuhuda. But we understand why as in the end Yuhuda does the opposite of his sin against Yosef and offers his own life instead of handing over Benyamin to Yosef. Not only this but Yuhudah dared to challenge Yosef, who was the viceroy of Egypt, the second most powerful man in the world in his day. So to try to save his brother Benyamin. To act in such a was was very dangerous. Yuhudah went from being callous when he sold Yosef to being caring and loving, he was willing to suffer the same fate he forced on Yosef to protect Benyamin. The Yuhudah who sold Yosef was not the same Yuhudah who stood out on a limb to protect Benyamim. He was a changed man, he made complete “tesuva”. We also see this between Yuhdah and Tamar when Yehuda say “She is more rightious than I”. It is for this reason Mashiach comes from Yuhudah, as it is know that David HaMelech opened the way for people to do “Teshuva”. They say the only reason it appears that David sinned was to show others the way of “teshuva”. Rabbi Avahu said in Gemore Brachot that in a place a “Bal Teshuva” stands a complete sadeek cannot stand.

On the simple level we see the tikun of the elder brother Yuhuda, as he being the leader of the brothers he should have stopped the evil from being perpetrated, so he needs to make the tikun . But what deeper implications are seen by this sequence of events. We know the 12 sons of Yisrael the fathers of the 12 tribes correspond and are conduits of the 12 mazzolot (constellations). Each being a aspect of the Shechinah. We know of Yuhuda that from his tribe came David haMelech, and will come Masiach. The tribe of Yuhuda is a conduit of the sefira Malchut (the Divine presence and rulership of Hashem). Yosef is known as “Yosef ha sadeek”, a sadeek (righteous man) is a conduit of the sefira Yesod (gate way of divine energy that creates Divine providence). In the beginning of the parsha Yosef ha sadeek was not known to his brothers, they did not recognize him. This is similar to what goes on today in “secular” Isreal. The Sadeekem who Yosef represents are not recognised for the value of the work they do, their contribution to society by the “secular” Jews of the world or the Government in control of the State of Israel. It is in the merit of their work that we are able to live. It is necessary for Yuhuda, Malchut (the government) to make its tikun. Secular Jews must make their tikun for throwing Yosef, sedek (righteousness) in the pit and selling it into slavery. This is reminiscent of the words of the Prophet Amos “ So says YHVH for three transgressions of Yisrael or four, I will not return them. For selling a righteous man for money” (2:6). Meaning that the Jewish people need to raise the value of the service of Hashem in their own eyes, and the value of those among them who dedicate their life to this work. They must give the talmid chuchmim (Holy Scholars) the respect due to them. Know we are commanded to stand up when a talmid chuchmim enters a room as before a Torah scroll itself. This says a lot. Its necessary For the Jewish people to recognise the greatness of their true Torah Leaders and their disciples, and help them with their needs when they can. Its written that a Rabbi who prevents a student from doing an act of kindness to him, is withholding from his student the good of heaven. When we realise how great a service those who learn Torah are providing for us, as it is written in the midrash “ if it were not for the sages who sit and learn torah the world long ago would have been destroyed”. Thus it is a travesty that those who learn Torah in collels are some of the lowest paid workers. It is truly in the merit of those who learn and observe the Torah that the Jewish people have it so good, and have not been destroyed. In earlier generations all the Levi and Coheniam dedicated their lives to the Service of Hashem and most of the Jewish people learned some level of Torah. Now all is resting on the shoulders the few who occupy in Torah, so give them their due. It is said Yosef feared God just as much when he was a slave as when he was ruler of Egypt.

The numerical value of יוסף “Yosef” (Joseph) is the same as קנה “kinah” (jealousy) 156 including 1 for collel. When Yoseph’s brothers all saw that Joseph personified the masculine principle and they all personified the feminine principle, they became very jealous of him. Thus we see that the numerical value of “Yosef” (Joseph) is the same as “kinah” (jealousy).

With this we can understand  that Yuhuda-Mulchut (the government) does its tikun by recognizing the value of its righteous inhabitants. By doing this they recognize Hashem. Then Yosef will be revealed this being the true value of righteousness, what the sadeekem represent. Thus recognising the Greatness of Hashem and His Torah. Then will Manifest the Power of Mashiach ben Yosef and the Mashiach of the House of David with the Temple built quickly in our days.

And may it be that we see this Greatness very soon in a complete redemption.

The Chanukah Dreidel (Dreidle)

The dreidel is one of the best known symbols of Chanukah. A four-sided top with a Hebrew letter on each side, the dreidel is used to play a fun Chanukah game of chance.

The letters on the dreidel, Nun, Gimmel, Hey and Shin, stand for the Nes Gadol Haya Sham, which means ”A Great Miracle Happened There”.

According to some historians, Jews first played with a spinning top during the rule of the Greek King Antiochus’. In Judea, Antiochus had outlawed Jewish worship, so the Jews would use a game with the spinning top as a ruse to conceal that they were secretly studying Torah.  

Even the child’s dreidel (Hanukah spinning top) holds great secrets.  Its four sides corresponding to the Tetragrammaton (YHVH), but 4 sides engraved with the Hebrew Letters

Four letters whose numerical value add to to 358, that of Mashiach, the Messiah.  

The light  each night we light connect us to the special light of miracles available to us once a year for 8 days staring every 25th of Kislev (Sagittarius). It’s different light/energy than what’s available to us in the 8 days of Sukkot-Shemini Atzeret; and it’s different from the light available to us during the 8 days of Pesach (Passover) -Shavout; and it’s different from the energy available to us on the 8 other holidays throughout the year. In total there are 32 days of varying special Light/energy (besides te Holy light of Shabbat). This connects to the 32 Paths of Wisdom of the Tree-of-Life through which these various light shine unto us. These 32 Paths are “connections” of Divine energy. Each connection has many Divine names which can reveal its light. This is all taught to us in “Safer Yetzera” the Book from the Biblical patriarch Abraham.  

One of the main ideas of Chanukah is ”that nothing is ever lost”, once it goes from a potential state to physical one it’s ever present in existence. So the light of the first night, is added to the second and so on until the 8th day when we have the light of 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8 = 36 candles.  

The sum of all the Torah occurrences of the words “first” through “eighth”—echad, sheni, shlishi, reve’i, chamishi, shishi, sheve’I, and shemeni—is            (echad appears in the Torah 189 times-  +sheni 125+shlishi 2+ reve’i 2+2+2+0+0times- shemeni) = 322 and since the sum of days (numbers) 1-8 representing all the summary Chanukah lights for the 8 days is 36, and (322 + 36) = 358.= Mashiach, the Messiah  

Now concerning the Chanukah blessings on the words L’hadleek Ner Chanukah and the kavanot (meditations) that we’ve learned from the Ariza”l, the 3 first letters Lamed, Nun and Chet, spell out in small gematria, 3,5,8 or 358, Mashiach.  

The 3 first letters Lamed, Nun and Chet of L’hadleek Ner Chanukah is the word Nachal (a holy Name that means stream or river, and also inheritance) and it has a numerical value of 88, which when aided by a kolel of 1 = 89, that of Chanukah itself.  

L’hadleek plus the kolel (1) = (179 +1) = 180= (name of 72+63+45) = 180  

The word for eight (8) in Hebrew is shemonah, and a simple permutation of the letters in shemonah (ShMNH) gives us hashemen. “the oil” (HShMN), and also neshama (soul, NShMH), all of which have the numerical value of 395, that of the 5th word in the Torah, H’ShMa’im (the Heavens).  

On a simple level, over the 8 nights, we’re lighting 44 candles in total including the shamesh every night, 44=(A – AH – AHY – AHY”H)=Dm (Blood in Hebrew) showing us this reaches all the way down to the lowest level of the soul in the blood as it says in the bible “the soul (Nefesh) is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11)  

Our lighting the Menorah each night rekindle the energy from the night before and culminate in completeness on Zot Chanukah (the 8th day) then: On the 1st night we light 1 candle and it stays lit metaphysically for (at least) 8 days; and on the second night we light 2 candles that stay lit, we have a total of 3 lit (rekindled) that second night. On the 3rd night we are lighting (rekindling) 1 + 2 + 3 or a total of six; and so on, until we have 1 + 3 + 6 + 10 + 15 + 21 + 28 + 36 = 120, Moses live 120 years. There are also 120 permutations of the 5 letters of the Divine name Elohim (in Hebrew) which has the numerical value of 86 which is the same in Hebrew as hateva (nature). All the powers within nature are connected to the revelation of these lights.  

The numerical value of mazal (Divine influence of Providence) is 77 and their are 77 consecutive doubling of words in the Torah (the same word occurring twice in succession), the midpoint of which is at the words Darosh, Darash, whose numerical value is 504 + 504 = 1008 = (28 x 36). Now the beauty of this is that the 1st 8 words of the Torah have a total numerical value of 3003, which is the sum of all the positive integers through 77, and that if we consider all the cumulative lit Chanukah lights as a multiple of 8 days: 1 x 3 x 6 x 10 x 15 x 21 x 28 x 36 = 1008 = 504 + 504, the values of Darosh, Darash, the midpoint of the 77 double words in the Torah. Interestingly enough, there are 25 words with the value 504 before and 25 after that midpoint, once again referring back to the 25th of Kislev, when we connect to the 8th of the 13 attributes of God’s names that open up flow of mercy  and  open  the stream of mazal  (Divine providence) into our lives and the world.  

ALL THIS PEOPLE IS NO “COINCIDENCE”  

Now know this for every candle we light below, one is lit above. By kindling the Chanukah manorah the Manorah in the Holy Temple is lit. So for the 156 plus 1 collective one we light each Hanukkah, another 157 are lit above, making 314 in total, with 314 being the numerical value of Shadai (ShDY) and of Mettatro”n. And of the 1008 plus1 we light in a multiple effect, a total of 2018 candles are lit above and below (1008+1+1008+1) each Chanukah in each of our homes in preparation for the Messiah in the year 2018 CE (5778HC), our inheritance.

And the letters in in Chanukah (Chet, nun, vav. caf, hey) when spelled out add up to 661, which is the same numerical value of Ester, as in Queen Ester, which is quite fitting, considering her role on Purim to save the Jews in exile, and also that, as we’ve been told by the Ari, she was an incarnation of Sarah, the Matriarch, whose numerical value is 505 and even more so since we light a total of 156 Chanukah lights each year, and Ester, of numerical value 661 = 505 + 156.

Chanukah is about revolution. It is a reminder to stand up against the oppression. Especially when the nations values and politics have overcome the government of the

Jewish people living in the land of Isreal. It is a time to establish a truly Torah government.

The victory of Chanuka requires pride, sacrifice and resolve. You must live its virtues not just talk about them in prayer. They are not a thing of the past they are powers of Chanukah. Compromise is a weakness that victors cannot afford. Freedom is reserved for those who fight for it. Standing up against all the odds is the Macabee way. Standing up for the Divine truth. Chanuka is a time to remember the price of victory. It is not cheap!

We can light all the Chanuka lights that we want but we must remember that the purpose of light is to cancel out darkness. We will never cancel out darkness or defeat evil all the while that we lack the commitment and resolve and the sacrifice necessary to win the day. All our Chanuka lights will be nothing but hollow and empty shells if we fail to remember what it is that they are supposed to really be.

Chanukah is a time of ever increasing light. This is seen and accomplished through the service of Chanukah which includes lighting of the “Menorah”. The main service of Chanukah is the illumination of the darkness of night with the manorah in increasing intensity from 1 to 9 lights including the ”shamash”. It was on the first night of Chanukah the 25th of kislev that Antiocos made the temple into a shrine for idolatry. This was the darkest

moment when the house of GOD became a place unfit for his dwelling .This was the climax of the decent of the Jewish people led by their ”high society” as they slid down to the depth of spiritual depravity being absorbed in the ”upper class” (Greek) values of their day, which was called HELLenism. The enemy may have stimulated the decline of Yisrael from outside yet the real enemy was within, it was ourselves. We allowed non-Torah values to

infect us to the point that a Cohen Gadol (High Priest) was placed in the temple who had values opposite that of the Torah.

The enemy was within but salvation came from without and within as only a small

group of Cohaniem who were living in the hills were able to bring about the

spiritual redemption of our people. Reclaiming the Holy Temple, with the miracle of

the oil, and the physical miraculous victory where our enemies were concurred. On

Chanukah we went from the darkest darkness of our souls, spiritually and physically

captured under the dominion of strangers, yet we came to witness miracles and

salvation. The Greeks deliberately and methodically defiled all the oil in the Temple. They purposefully wanted to stamp out the means for Yisrael to serve God. The existence and discovery of one undefiled cruse – despite the aggressive efforts of the Greeks – was a miracle in and of itself. The Megillat Antiochus tells us that the Hasmonean Kohanim “They found only one cruse of oil which was sealed with the insignia of the Holy Kohen from the time of Samuel the prophet.”

We came to witness oil that burned miraculously. That which had the

physical potential to burn for one day burned for eight. This infinite quality of oil represents the permutation of the

spiritual quality of oil, which from kabalah we learn is ” chuchmah ” (creative inspiration), right into this physical world.

It is known that ”chuchmah” (Divine wisdom-creative power) is above space and time. Thus we see its revelation in this physical world “mamash”. The oil from the Manora allows us to Contemplate the surrounding lights and עליוןרצון (supernal will). We know rabbi Moshe Chym Lazatto says this light comes around every year for those who are there to receive it, blessed are those who reach this time. Now the ”Chuchmah” (Divine Wisdom-creativity) dresses itself in our dedication as Chanukah means dedication. Chanukah being the celebration of our dedication to Holiness, which is during the time of ”chanuc” (dedication) of the alter as described in the Torah in the book of ”Bamidbar” (Numbers), the dedication of the temple by King Salomon, the dedication of the temple by Yehuda Macabbe, and today our personal dedication to the Holy Blessed One NOW.

Our personal dedication to the Torah is the absolute fixing of the present exile of

Edom (the west ), which is rooted in Yavan (greek culture ), which is the

source of the hellinism that Yehuda Macabee rebelled against. Yavon is the same

spelling as Zion, except for missing the letter צ ’sawde”. A sawdeek is represented by

Yosef ha Sadeek. He represents the sefira yesod. As taught by rabbi Shimon bar Yochi yesod is 9th of the sefirot, it is as the 8 Chanukah lights and the ”shamash”. They are paralleled by

the 7 lights of the manorah in the temple, and the bulb where the branches meet. Thus it is said by kindling the

Chanukah manorah the manorah in the Holy Temple is lit. On Chanukah there shines the lights of ס”ג

(light of Divine understanding) to Z’a (source of the Ruach, emotional soul). ס”ג =חנה and יהו”ה (is Z’a)=וכ

together is חנוכה . Every aspect can be lit up by נר (lamps) of chanucah. Thus נר

is gematria of the Yichudim (unifications) of אהי”ה   אלהי”ם    אדנ”י each with יהו”ה = נר.

Rabbi Ashlag teaches that all 25 Parzufim (divine faces of revelation) come down to

Prophets, they being attached to the highest powers.

This all shines on Chanukah. חן (favor) from the revelation of the 8 days of Chanukah is as a Temple offering or ”Brit Mealah” (circucision) which both must wait till the 8th day. We receive זאת (SHECHINAH) Chanukah by the revelation of the oil (Chuhmah) that illuminates making one’s face to Shine. This Shining is חן. This is what one must find in their wife (Shechinah) as said in the end of Gemora Gitten. The כלה (bride) being the Shechinah. This being revealed as the perfection of man. This is the ”Gadlut” (greatness) of Yaakov which is called Yisrael. This is the סלום (ladder) from heaven. This is the ו . In this time of Chanukah ”dedication”, this is accomplished by doing what Yehuda Ha Makaabe stood for rebelling against what Yavan represents which is striving for beauty alone without the discretion or recognition of GOD which, thus the pursuit of beauty becomes completely a reflection of the love of the body, and self love. Thus we see reason for their obsession with sports, the human body the main theme of their visual arts, and there obsession with abstract intellectual thought. All the things have only one end the glorification of one self, this is the ultimate product of the philosophy of the Greeks, but when the letter צ ’sawde’ is added to the word’ Yavan’ (Greek) it becomes Zion. Thus when one adds ’sawde’ representing yesod, the power of making the most complete revelation of GOD out of all things and places. Perfect uprightness ,acting as a sadeek. Then true perfect beauty is realized. So, on Chanukah we need to dedicate to GOD the beauty that which is unique to ourselves as we each have a different face. So our relationship to GOD is a personal thing . It is our personal expression of beauty in Divine service. We see in the writing of our sages so many things called “hadar mitzvahsefira”, which is performing the mitzvah in a way which is more than is required by the letter of the law. This is why Chanukah is called holiday of the Oral Torah. All Yisrael are required to fulfill the 613 commandments of the Torah. Since we don’t have a temple now, may it be rebuilt soon some mitzvot involving temple service and other mitzvot due to our lackings can only be fulfilled by learning about them. All the mitzvot that we do bind us together. This is the fulfillment of the letter of the law but this is not enough, as it says in the Talmud “ if only the letter of the law was fulfilled, no one could exist ”. If one only does the least that is required what kind of love does this express ?.

A mitzvah is a vessel for the love of GOD. A pitcher holds water so has an intrinsic beauty to its form, yet with ornate engravings it becomes something to behold. If this thing is a mitzvah that has become beautified it is truly something to love. Each person needs to express themselves with in the mitzvot with the uniqueness of their Nashama, this is to discover ourselves, and GOD’s great source of light within each of us.

It is a time to manifest עזותהקושה (brazenness of Holiness) against the “sitra achra” (other side). By this is the perfection of the mitzvot. It is by this that we become Holy, which means separate. Each of us establishing our own personal relationship with GOD. As it say in Leviticus ”sanctify yourselves and be holy ”. This being sanctification in the permitted or separation. Such as cutting the bread slightly before blessing or doing a ”Tynet debor” (fast of speech). Not speaking is equal to many fasts of food. It is the uniqueness of the individual that makes the ultimate fixing for the creation. It is this individuality that is the complete fixing against the exile of Edom. As they want conformity, a lack of individuality , every one to conform to a certain standardization. As taught by Rabbi Kahana in Pesicta Edom the offspring of Yavan (Greek values) tries to push Yisrael off the Torah path to conform to its values ” be like every one else ”. The perfection of the commandments defeats the darkness of exile. It is this dedication that is required. Now lets look specifically at how the klipa (evil) of Yavan Edom attacks.

In the era of Chanukah the Greeks made laws forbidding observance the Rosh Chodesh (new moon), Shabot ,and circumcision . Chodesh being sanctification in time, Shabot being sanctification in spirituality through action, and circumcision sanctification in the most physical our bodies. It is these institutions that Yavan chose to strike at as they are at the root of our service to GOD. by observance of rosh chodesh we make known our time belongs to GOD. With shabbot we realize the spiritual impact of our actions which we might have thought were in consequential, such as turning on a light. While the circumcision Yavan fought against actually represents the sanctification of GOD with our bodies. That the most physical things we are involved in should be dedicated to divine will.

It’s said by Rashi that Yaakov went back across the river to pick up the small bottles that were filled with oil for Chanukah that he had left there. This oil was oil made from the olives of the olive branch brought back to Noah by the dove after the flood. It was when doing this that Yaakov came across the supernal angel of Edom (the west ), and he wrestled with him and won at Bait Ael which illudes to the place of the Holy temple. This shows us by the power of Chanukah we can concur the exile of Edom. As yaakov did fulfilling the verse “ I will punish the Hosts on high “. The threat of Yaakov getting the Chanukah oil was enough to arouse the angel of Asev, Edom to attack him.

Sni luchot ha brit teaches that on Chanukah if one lights the Manorah outside His door and a spark flies to the street burning hay on a wagon. The owner of the Manorah is not liable to damages. It is the function of the Jewish people to destroy the decendents of Asev. The sparks flying out into the public domain do this. But such is only permitted in its proper time, sparks flying into the street and damaging not on “chanukah” is a crime and one must then pay damages. Hastening the redemption led to the premature death of 20,000 of the tribe of Efriam, when they left Egypt early.

Another matter we need to look at is what it means to us that on Chanukah that Asev can only be defeated when Yosef is with Yehuda. Yehuda alone cannot defeat Asev. This brings us to explain Masiach ben Yosef and David. Yuhudah is the fulfillment of the letter of the law. Yosef is service of a personal nature, above that which is required. The god of the Greeks was a impersonal unreachable god. To them god was the unapproachable authority. By the service of Yosef one fulfills the words of the Torah ”I shall dwell in your midst ” . This is how Yavan the exile of Edom is defeated. One must fulfill the mitzvot regularly this is Yehuda, but not only this but in a beautiful way by this we will overcome the present exile. We see the blending of these two aspects in the mitzvah of the Chanukah manora. As almost every one in Isreal fulfills the letter of the law of this mitzvah, being the aspect of Yehuda, yet in many homes even of those who claim to not be religious we find more than one manora lit this being the ”hadar” above the letter of the law being the aspect of Yosef.

In the Chanukah story the enemy of the Jews were not only the Greeks – but the ”reform” Jews who betrayed the Torah, abandoned the Commandments and accepted Greek ways. This was an internal national struggle for the soul of the Jew – the two sides were the ”Sages” and “Hellenists.”. The true story of the Festival of Light is one of a particularly bloody Jewish civil war.As a matter of fact, civil war continued in Judea for twenty years after the first Chanukah. Hanukkah is a festival built upon a mound of suppressed memories and censored texts, a putative celebration of light that in fact commemorates a Jewish civil war.

The true fight on Chanukah is about. Between Jews and Greeks? No, it was a civil war between Jews and Jews! So that’s the primary thing. Mattatiyahu Maccabe started the war by killing a Jewish traitor and a Greek official present. What was his sin? He made a sacrifice according to Greek customs. Then Mattatyahu turned to the crowd and announces: “Follow me, all of you who are for God’s law and stand by the covenant.” (1 Maccabees 2:27)

The Hanukkah story is really about a revolt against the Hellenized Jews who had fallen madly in love with the sophisticated, globalizing superculture of their day. The Apocrypha’s texts make it clear that the battle against Hellenization was in fact a civil war among the Jews themselves. Here is how the first Book of the Maccabees describes Jerusalem on the eve of civil war and revolt in the time of Antiochus :

At that time there were some evil-doers in Israel who tried to win popularity for a policy of integration with the surrounding nations. It was because the Jews had kept themselves aloof for so long, they claimed, that so many hardships had befallen them. They acquired a following and applied to Antiochus, who authorized them to introduce the Greek way of life. They built a Greek gymnasium in Jerusalem and even had themselves uncircumcised.

Uncircumcision was the price of admission to the Jerusalem gym ! Josephus, tells us, in “History of the Jews”, that one of the most popular plastic surgery operations, in Jerusalem, at that time was replacing the foreskin because Jewish men were embarrassed not to have a foreskin for the race. So, Josephus says that a lot of doctors got rich putting back the foreskins. It was a Jewish problem at Chanukah. Not Jews and non-Jews. The problem was Jews who wanted to adopt a Greek way of life. We don’t have a problem with Greeks adopting a Greek way of life.

Only when the Greeks saw that many Jews were prepared to betray their way of life, did Antiochus find the courage to prohibit ”on pain of death,” the study of Torah, the practice of Circumcision, the observance of Shabbat and Divine worship,and the rest of his injunctions against Torah observance. Then he put a statue of Zeus in the Temple and sacrificed pig on the altar.

Jason’s time as High Priest was brought to an abrupt end in 172 BCE when he sent Menelaus, the brother of Simon the Benjaminite, to deliver money to Antiochus. Menelaus took this opportunity to ”outbid” Jason for the priesthood, resulting in Antiochus confirming Menelaus as the High Priest. Although during the three years As High Priest Jason had given many proofs of his attachment to the Hellenistic party (by building a gymnasium in Jerusalem and by introducing many Greek customs) the zealous Hellenists of the stamp of the Tobiads plotted his overthrow, suspecting him of partiality to traditional Judaism. At their head stood Menelaus.

Hasmonean Dynasty ruled from 142-63 BCE During that time, there was a great deal of tension between the Hasmoneans and the sages. As a result, the sages were not particularly interested in maintaining a holiday that commemorated the dedication declared by the Hasmonean family. There is not 1 Mishna on Chanukah.

Sadducees represented the aristocratic group of the Hasmonean High Priests, who replaced the previous High Priestly lineage. The earlier Priestly lineage had been blamed for allowing the Syrian Emperor Antiochus IV Epiphanes to desecrate the Temple of Jerusalem with idolatrous sacrifices and to martyr monotheistic Jews.

Jewish priest Mattatiyahu led the Maccabean revolt against the Seleucid Empire (167 BC-160 BC) and is acclaimed as one of the greatest warriors in Jewish history alongside Joshua, Gideon and David. Led by Mattatiyahu Jews entered Jerusalem and purified the Temple (164 BCE), these events are commemorated each year by the festival of Hannuka.

Jose ben Joezer was a rabbi of the early Maccabean period 191 BCE, a disciple of Antigonus of Soko and member of the ascetic group known as the Chasidim. Yose belonged to the party of the Ḥasidim, and was a decided adversary of Hellenism. One of Yosi’s ideas was: Let your house be a meeting place for the wise; sit in the dust of their feet; and drink in their words with thirst (Avot 1:4). He belonged to a priestly family. Jose ben Johanan of Jerusalem was his colleague. ) was Nasi (president) of the Sanhedrin in the second century BCE. He was a native of Jerusalem. He and Jose ben Joezer were the successors and, it is said, the disciples of Antigonus of Sokho and the two together formed the first of a series of pairs that transmitted the traditional law; in each pair one, according to tradition, was a prince and a president (“nasi”), and the other vice-president, of the Sanhedrin (Av Beth Din)begins the period known in Jewish history as that of the zugot (pairs), which ended with Hillel and Shammai. According to an old tradition, the member of the “zugot” mentioned first occupied the office of Nasi (president) of the Sanhedrin, while the one mentioned second served in the capacity of vice-president.

The Syrian general Bacchides had Yosi ben Joezer placed on a horse to be hanged. His nephew, an important Hellenist, came to taunt his uncle.

The first pair consisted of Yose ben Yo’ezer as Nasi, and Yose ben Yochanan as the Av Beis Din. They received the Oral Law from Antigonos, as did their contemporary Yochanan, whose son Mattisyahu started the Hasmonean revolt. The famous “Yehudah HaMaccabee” (Judah the Maccabee) from the story of Chanukah was Mattisyahu’s son.

Jonathan Apphus, High priest 153-143 BCE. Yonathan Maccabee was leader of the Hasmonean Dynasty of Judea from 161 to 143 BCE. He is called also Apphus

Mattisyahu called for a revolt against the Greeks and Jews who had placed idols in the Temple.

Yuhudah Maccabee removed the idols from the Temple. In 140 B.C. The Hasmonean Dynasty began under the leadership of Simon Maccabee, who served as ruler, high priest, and commander in chief. Simon, who was assassinated a few years later, formalized what Yudah had begun, the establishment of a theocracy ruled by a Kohen Gadol, something not found in the Torah

After the Hellenists killed Yosi ben Joezer the new Nasi became Yehoshua ben Perachyah and the Av Beis Din Nittai haArbeli they were the next of the pairs. According to Rambam, one of the other great Sages who transmitted the Oral Law during this generation was Yochanan, son of Shimon—who was one of the four brothers of Yehudah , known as the Maccabee. Judah and his brothers led the military revolt against the Greeks and Hellenized Jews that led to the miracles of Chanukah.

The third generation of “pairs” consisted of the Nasi Yehudah ben Tabbai and the Av Beis Din Shimon ben Shetach. Shimon ben Shetach defied the evil King Alexander Yannai, ensuring the survival of Torah.

Alexander Yannai was a King from the Hasmonean line. One of the sad postscripts of the Chanukah story is that although the sons of Mattisyahu were Kohanim (Priests, from the tribe of Levi), they took it upon themselves to rule over Israel following their successful revolt. This was a tragic error, because the right to be King of Israel was granted by God to the descendants of King David, who is from the tribe of Yehudah, for eternity.

During the following generations, the Hasmonean leaders were corrupted by their power, both taking upon themselves the title of “King” and also acting with increasing hostility toward the Torah Sages. Alexander Yannai was influenced by an evil advisor to have the Sages killed—but his wife, Shlomis Alexandra, ensured that her brother Shimon ben Shetach was spared.

Hasmonean dynasty ruled Between c. 140 and c. 116 BCE,

Yehoshua ben Perachyah and his colleague Nittai of Arbela were the second of the five pairs (Zugot) of scholars who received and transmitted Jewish tradition (Avot i.6; Haggigah 16a).

After the Hellenists killed Yosi ben Yoeser, Yehoshua b. Perachya became the Nasi in the year 140 At the time of the persecution of the Pharisees by John Hyrcanus (c. 134-104 BC), Joshua was deposed — a disgrace to which his words in Men. 109b apparently allude. However in Sanhedrin 107b and Sotah 47a it was during the persecutions of Pharisees 88-76 BCE by Alexander Jannaeus, not John Hyrcanus whose persecution he fled. He fled to Alexandria, Egypt, but was recalled to Jerusalem when the persecutions ceased and the Pharisees again triumphed over the Sadducees (Sotah 47a).

The Pharisees opposed the wars of expansion of the Hasmoneans and the forced conversions of the Idumeans. The political rift between them became wider when Pharisees demanded that the Hasmonean king Alexander Jannaeus choose between being king and being High Priest. In response, the king openly sided with the Sadducees by adopting their rites in the Temple. His actions caused a riot in the Temple and led to a brief civil war that ended with a bloody repression of the Pharisees. The split came through a tragic event in the Beth Hamikdosh during Succoth.

Yannai, as Kohen Gadol (High Priest), conducted the Service in the Beth Hamikdosh. One of the special services on Succoth was the “Nisuch Hamayim” (Pouring of the Water) on the Altar. According to tradition, together with the pouring of wine which took place during the whole year, a pitcher of water, which had been joyfully drawn from the Spring of Shiloah, was additionally poured over the Altar on each day of Succoth.

This service was, connected with the ceremony of the Drawing of the Water, known as ”Simchath Beth Hashoevah,” and was an annual event during Succoth, which was carried out with great celebration.

When the High Priest was handed the pitcher of water to pour over the Altar, he poured it out on the ground instead, as the Sadducees bad refused to accept this tradition.

Seeing what he had done, the assembled worshippers in the Beth Hamikdosh were infuriated, and began showering him with their Ethrogim.

King Yannai became so frightened at such open rebellion, that he ordered his non-Jewish soldiers to attack the people. This they did, killing six thousand Jews in the court of the Beth Hamikdosh.

After this happening, the people began to hate King Yannai more than ever. There were many uprisings against the King, and he mercilessly crushed the rebels with the help of his paid army. This, in turn, led to further rebellion and bitterness among the people, resulting in six years of bloody civil warfare.

At his deathbed, King Yannai called for a reconciliation between the two parties. Alexander was succeeded by his widow, Salome Alexandra, whose brother was Shimon ben Shetach, a leading Pharisee. Upon her death her elder son, Hyrcanus, sought Pharisee support, and her younger son, Aristobulus, sought the support of the Sadducees. The conflict between Hyrcanus and Aristobulus culminated in a civil war that ended when the Roman general Pompey captured Jerusalem in 63 BCE and inaugurated the Roman period of Jewish history.
