on Shavu’ot  IN THE TEMPLE WERE BROUGHT two loaves THAT were chametz, and the thanksgiving offering is partly matzah and partly chametz. SHAVUOT IS A OPPORTUNITY TO TRANSFORM FROM THE SLAVE STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS WE CARRY WITH US TO REAL FREEDOM AND ETERNAL LIFE- LIKE WE DID LEAVING EGYPT YEARS AGO AND WERE TRANSFORMED BY RECEIVING TORAH AT SINAI !

BUT WILL WE BE READY THIS TIME ? THE 6TH OF SIVAN, THE DAY WE CELEBRATE SHAVOUT IS THE DAY WHEN WE ALL STOOD AT MOUNT SINAI AND HEARD THE VOICE OF GOD AND ASKED MOSES TO RECEIVE THE REST OF THE TORAH ON OUR BEHALF AS IT WAS ALL TOO MUCH , IT WAS THE DAY MOSES WENT UP TO RECEIVE THE TORAH, 40 DAYS LATER MOSES CAME BACK DOWN TO SEE THE GOLDEN CALF DISCO BROKE THE FIRST TABLETS AND WENT BACK UP AGAIN TO GET THE TORAH AGAIN ONLY TO COME DOWN 40 DAYS LATER. THIS TIME LETS BE READY. DO IT NOW !

Shavuot is not just a celebration of a event that happened 3300 years ago in the Sinai desert. Every new Shavuot we recieve  a new revelation of the Torah new consciousness in our personal and collective soul. No Shavuot is the same as The God is always revealing new Torah for building the world. On this night Shechinah is crowned by those who participate in shavuot. So She, The Shechinah can join with the King and illuminate the minds of those who took part in bringing about their adornment and unification.

Before our universe began, there was only empty space. Then at one point, a parallel dimension, “bumped into” our universe and injected into it the energy that became the matter that forms all we know.

This though was not the end of the creation of our world.

The Torah that Moshe received at mount Sinai was not of his own design. Every other prophet had a personal revelation from God and then expected the masses to believe him and to accept his word and his religion. The giving of the Torah was radically different. The events at Mt. Sinai were witnessed by over three million human souls, men women, and children. They all experienced together the giving of the Bible (Torah). They all together saw and heard, stood in awe and wonder as something not of this world descended upon the mountain and spoke to them in a voice that sounded like thunder. As its written :

“And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the lower part of the mount. And Mount Sinai was altogether in smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount trembled greatly. And when the voice of the shofar sounded long, and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.” (Exodus 19)

“And all the people saw the voices,” (Exodus 20)

This is a perception not of our world.

Our Rabbis taught that the Ten Commandments were all spoken in One Syllable. They came  from the mouth of the Holy One as one—something so difficult to imagine that no human mouth can utter it, nor any human ear hear it. It is therefore written, “My soul went out at his word”  (Song of Songs 5:6) As our souls were unable to remain in our bodies when we heard God’s Voice at Sinai. The sages say not once, but numerous times our souls left our bodies and returned, left our bodies and returned:

Even the nations of the world knew something was up as from the first of the 4 Klipah in the vision of Ezekial, the most external one, Called “Storm wind” The nations experienced Divine sounds as the Torah was being given at mount Sinai. Torah speaks in the language of human beings.”

When it says “A thick cloud was on the mountain.” It is this second “klipa” (Shell that conceals light) that in Ezekial is called “a great cloud.” The third “klippa”in Ezekial, the “Consuming fire” at Sinai is reffered to by “you heard His words from within the fire.” This was the “ sound of the shofar.” From here was heard the sound of the Voice of Hashem. By level of revelation called “Consuming fire” the nations trembled, which is the meaning of “all the nation trembled”. With the next level of revelation there was no “Klipa” (screen), only the more inner “brilliant light,” which Ezekial said called “Chashmal” which carries the “Small still voice”. The inner voice of God in your soul. Hashem spoke to us “face to face” as its written “Face to face God spoke with you on the mountain”,
See clearly from this, that the TORAH was given to Moses by what we must rightly call an Supernatural power-God.

It may be difficult to believe a single prophet who claims to have had a Divine experience. It is possible that such a person is mistaken or self deceived. However when three million people witnessed a “close encounter of the third kind.” That sets the odds highly in their favor that what they collectively saw and heard was real and true. Such a event is hard to deny.

The same Supernatural power continued this revelation to the Biblical prophets who explained to the following generations the observance of these Divine teachings and to how to safeguard them from inadvertently violating a Torah commandment. Thus bringing Divine retribution on their heads. These words of advice have been observed and practiced for more than 2,400 years. The echoes of these events are still murmuring in the unconscious minds of almost every human being. Whether we like it or not, agree with it or not, the echo of the Ten Commandments and Biblical morality speaks into the hearts and souls of almost everybody in this world.

These Divine teachings will stay in force until the next time we are visited by the Power that came to Sinai. This next visitation is expected to bring to Earth more than just a body of instructions to mankind. The next time we make contact, the prophecy states, the Power revealed at Sinai will come with an invading army, one that will conquer the Earth and install a new world government led by a monarch, who will be a descendant of the Biblical King David. When this armada from the Heavens arrives, the Spiritual will welcome it as the coming of the Messiah. The others will most likely be terrified in that their worst nightmare will be coming true –

You need to recognize that the episode at Mt. Sinai was not merely a religious event of ancient history. The Torah is no mere book of religious principles. We made contact with something Supernatural on Sinai those many years ago. That “something” identified itself as the Creator. The Creator opened a channel of communication with mankind and gave us instructions for nearly one thousand years.

At the Big Bang, Torah was the force that was injected into a empty space enabling it to form and grow becoming our universe. At Sinai, Torah was again injected into our physical universe again. Yet, this time, it was not coming into empty space, but rather into already existing world. Therefore, this time, Torah had to come into the universe in a cloaked form; otherwise its mere unsheathed presence would have undone the fabric of space/time itself, enough to shake the very foundations of the Earth. This opening of the Heavens must have been some type of interdimensional vortex that enabled a link between our Earth and another dimension we call Heaven to come into contact. The Big Bang created a world bound by “natural law” from which developed all form and matter. A second “mini” Big Bang happened when the Torah was revealed on Mount Sinai this enabled humans to embrace and connect to the higher dimension and thus learn to live in harmony with it and use its forces to direct the continued development and creation of this world. As God and the Torah are One. Therefore not only is the Torah to be found everywhere in the universe, so too is God. For God’s name in Hebrew, the one used in the creation story is ELOHIM is numerically equivalent to the Hebrew word for nature, HaTeva.. .

Mankind has progressed much since those early days when the Jewish people received the Torah at Mt. Sinai. Most of the world has been influenced by this event. First Christianity and then Islam built themselves on the back of Torah. Each religion claims to be the legitimate heir and continuation of the path received at Sinai. Needless to say, such contradictory claims have led to centuries of conflict. Indeed, the way the 21st century has begun it looks like that a major conflict between Moslem nations and Christian nations is brewing. Moslem nations rally against Israel and the Jews, but Islam defines its greatest and true enemy as the “American great Satan.” The United States and the European Union spend billions of dollars on defense and intelligence to protect themselves from growing threats of Islamic insurgency. Unbeknown to most, Western powers are doing their share to subvert the rule of Islam in Moslem countries. Otherwise, Islamic fundamentalism will sweep through the Middle East on its way to taking over the world.

What the eventual outcome of this brewing conflict will be, time will tell.

The Prophets thousands of years ago spoke of this conflict that we are seeing today. Realize from this that there is indeed a Force and a Power above that which we humans cannot control or even understand, and that force that spoke at Sinai and to the prophets is the Creator God.

Something happened that night on Mt. Sinai those thousands of years ago. Only a few hold the faith of the message revealed that night. The rest of us feel that we have evolved beyond the need of such “myths.” However, what is myth and what is reality, better be defined with greater clarity, before we wish to reject an Authority which apparently can impose itself upon us by sheer force of will as we see displayed in the miracles and wonders of the bible. A Authority that calls itself God the Creator of all. The God at Sinai warned us against our self destructive behaviors. One of the last Prophets Malachi concludes his book with a subtle warning spoken through him By God :

“Remember the Torah of Moshe my servant, which I commanded to him in Horev for all Israel to observe decrees and ordinances. Behold, I send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome Day of God. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers with their children, and the hearts of the children with their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with utter destruction.”

(Malachi 3:22-24).

The warning is clear. Accept the Torah of God and live by it. For the Day of God will come and it will be great and awesome.

The Power that made Supernatural contact with us centuries ago at Sinai will return.

When that Power-GOD comes back, will we find favor in its eyes, or will it use its incredibly superior Power to tear down mankind and civilization and start all over again? When the Supreme Supernatural Power-God comes back to planet Earth to claim its territory and to punish those who have stood against its Torah and its representatives no military weapons will withstand the invading armies of angels led by the Messiah.

The Highest Power will return to this world and will renew upon the Earth a Garden of Eden, one based upon its centuries old message in the Torah. This is our inevitable human future. We can choose to fight it or embrace it. The consequences of our actions will be telling.

There is a time for everything Good, this Tuesday night and Wednesday (also the following day out side the land of Israel) is the time God has given us to make a renewed connection with NEW revelations of the Bible-(Torah), with the infinite light !

WITH GOD

Shavuot

Shavuot has more names than any other festival being called “Time of giving of the Torah”, “This very day”, “Day of assembly”, “Day of first fruit” and “Atzeret” (day of Gathering”. Shavuot is compared to the middle bar that holds the Tabernacle together). Shavuot is the “atzeret” of Passach. Shavu’ot” is one of the three pilgrimage festivals, yet it is much less popular than the other Jewish Holidays , even a minor holiday like Hanukah. There is no tractate in the Talmud or Mishnah devoted to Shavu’ot why?  With every Holiday the Torah gives the day to celebrate it but by Shavu’ot the Torah only tells us it is seven weeks after “The Shabbot” when the Omer offering is made. The “Shabbot” mentioned here is Not “Shabbot” but the second day of Pesach (Vayikra 23:15).  The Torah does not say that the Torah was given on Shavuot. The giving of the Torah has to be one of the most important events in Jewish history. Why doesn’t the Torah say what day the event happened on, why ?This seems obvious that the God did this so the sage could point to the Oral Torah as with  out the Oral Torah, Mishnah and Talmud one can not ever clearly discern ever what day Shavuat falls !

It was on Rosh Chodesh Sivan that Yisrael encamped at mount Sinai. The word “encamped” in the Bible is written in the singular form, as Yisrael were all of one heart. Recieving of the Torah is experienced when Yisrael love one another. Sharing a mutual love of brotherhood peace and fellowship. Like in a marriage. The Torah is the instrument of Betrothal between Hashem and Yisrael. Also on Rosh Chodesh Sivan King Asa gathered Yuhudah and Benyamim and those who lived among them to Jerusalem and the entered into a covanant with God with all their hearts and souls. This day has been ordained as a day of peace and unity between a man and his brother and a day for making a covanant of peace and love between Yisrael and their father in Heaven. The day that we stood at Sinai, we were as one man with one heart” (Rashi, Exodus). It is from this place that we must approach Shavuot to receive the Torah.

Which is our mission upon which the whole world depends.

חלב= 40 , we eat milk products on Shavuot so to remember the 40 days and nights Moses spent with God on Sinia. We also decorate our houses with green to remember Sinai. We learn Ruth on Shavuot as it teaches us the Torah is only acquired through hardship. The story occurs at the beginning of the barley harvest which is at the time of Shavuot.  רות is gematria 606 the 7 laws of Noah is 613. The Ben Ish Chai teaches that when Boaz speaks to Ruth, it is as God speaking to the Children of Israel King David who descends from Ruth was born and died on Shavuot. The story of Ruth reminds us that only by the Oral Torah will there be redemption. As the Torah forbids converts from Moab as its written “An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the Lord forever.” (Deut 23 :3) We only know that the prohibition on Moab converts only applies to men through the Oral Torah. The Ben Eash Chy tells us not to speak of secular matters the whole night of Shavuot. But this night is for study of the Torah which achieve great results in Heaven and infuses the soul with sanctity and purity. As Rabbi Shimon says “All who learn Torah on this night Hashem blesses with many blessings and crowns in the upper worlds” . Shavuot by the counting of the 49 days preceding it alludes to the Great Shabbot at the end of the cycle of 49,0000 years, it reminds one of the time when “death shall be swallowed up forever”, a time of Eternal ecstasy.

SHAVUOT

The Bible is not what you think-Not of this World !

For, even though Bible-Torah just seems like another book, just another area of intellectual study, it is far from that. It is meant for transmitting of “energy”, Divine power. It is a battery for your soul. But Like superheroes with dual identities, whose mundane, common lifestyle is meant to conceal the true nature of the superhero, the physical books and words in which Bible-Torah is found concealing the true nature of Bible-Torah, and what it is capable of doing, and THAT is not something just anyone can access, no matter how many times they pore over even the deepest of Torah secrets. For that, you have to make yourself into a desert. As that is where the Torah was given, teaching us one must be humble not filled with themselves. As such a person they can’t learn and cant hear what others say. They are like a defective battery that will not take a charge. Being humble though does not mean to make one lowly like a rag one would used to wash the floor. It is written that Moses was the most humble of men, but he stood up to do what needed to be done. He would let no man push him around. But he was open to whatever God would tell him.

The Torah is a “Book”, if you can even really define it as that ?, the Torah was written, made by the God.

The Torah is more than a book, but it is the “blueprint” of all creation. Unlike a normal blue print this one has creative power. From it the world is sustained continually and built. One can merit levels very high in the “world to come”which are otherwise inaccessible. By gaining deep understandings concerning the commandments. The commandments have more value. There is no end for a man to apply understanding to the commandments. The Ramban said “ The foundation of all wisdoms stands on who is God.1 Torah is called truth, and faith is the foundation and source of divine service. When reading from the Torah one joins with truth and faith. But this is not automatic. Simply reading the book is not enough one needs to open up their soul to the infinite the Divine Energy of the Torah. Of course if one intends to read the Bible as only a book that is all that it will be, that is all that will be revealed to them. This water goes out through holes in the “mesach” (screen-filter) of ”tzizum” (contraction) to sustain the world From the foundation stone on the temple mount, even if the Temple in Jerusalem is not standing in the physical world. It states ” Spirit of Elokim moves on the face of the waters” (the sages say this “Spirit” is the Messiah). ” The Spirit of Elokim moves on the face of the waters” The magid of Koznitz says the waters referred to here are Torah. The Energy of the Messiah comes forth his existence becomes manifest from the waters of the Torah. Lets bring out this water from the God’s infinite well. These forces can be brought forth from the Torah when you “read” it, it one makes the connection to its essence. Its forces renew change everything, according to the will of God at the time. The physical world we live in is under constraint of time and space. This is not so of the supernal ark and the Torah. They operate in a timeless realm above physical laws. This is so as ink in Hebrew “דיו” (ink) is the letters that spell out יוד (Yud) of the divine name Yhv’h. As said יוד is the creative inspiration of the Torah. And יוד being Chuchmah (creative wisdom inspiration) that is above space and time.2 The point is that Torah is not really a thing of this world and that is why we said before that the Torah is Like superheroes with dual identities, whose mundane, common lifestyle is meant to conceal the true nature of the superhero, the physical books and words in which Bible-Torah is found concealing the true nature of Bible-Torah. If one only knew what they are looking at and how to look “into the Torah”. The “Written Torah has in it only the “tagin” (crowns of letters) and letters. In the Torah scroll some letters have crowns drawn on top of them, but in the Torah scroll there are no vowels. The letters are the 288 sparks of the vessels that shattered. It is these fallen “sparks” which allow our imperfect world to exist, and for there to be free will and choice. By which a soul can choose to do that which is right there by expressing its love of God and Gaining merit there by. In creating the world God joined letters and sparks together. By the shattering of the vessels sparks fell below. By holy speech one makes permutations of these letters and sparks, thereby making peace between them and raising up the Sparks from their fallen places. Then the sparks can reveal their light from their source above. Making the world more complete, and revealing more of the Light of God here below.3 Through the reading of the Torah with the notes of song (These notes are not written in the Torah scroll, but are know from the Oral Torah) and vowels (The vowels of the Torah’s words are not written in the Torah scroll, but are know from the Oral Torah) These notes and vowels are drawn from the Divine name מ”ה חדש , this brings new Divine energy into the vessels of creation. This purifies the vessels and the sparks. By this fixing there is drawn lights from the ear of A’k (an even higher place) to the letters of the Torah. By this they are fixed, from their shattered state. ו“ה of the name יהו“ה are the letters of the Torah.4 Raise the letters that are fallen by the “tamim” (notes), “nikudot” (vowels), “tagin” (crowns) All letters have their source in the letter א, which is called sweetened.5 The nature of the letters of the Torah is revealed by the fact that when the letters flew off the first tablets of the ten commandments Moshe was no longer able to hold them any longer as they were so heavy, so he had to let them drop and shattered. This was because after the letters had departed from the tablets of stone they were with out “The Divine Spirit” that they had before, so grew heavy and fell.6 In the Torah Scroll itself there are no vowels allowing the Torah to have many meanings, as each generation has a unique “tikun”(fixing) of its own by exchanging the letters.7

The Ar”i teaches that God  prepared Eve for her wedding with Adam by adorning her with 24 ornaments. The primordial snake contaminated Eve with 24 types of venom. When we received the Torah at Mt. Sinai, we were purified from the defilement of the snake, the 24 ornaments were restored to us.The 24 ornaments are listed in Isaiah 3:18-24. These 24 ornaments are manifest as the 24 books of the Bible (the 5 books of Moses, the 7 books of the prophets, and the 9 books of the Writings). It is therefore customary to spend the night of Shavuot reading selections of these books by this is restoration of the 24 ornaments of the bride.

I really hope you can get the Bible to open up before you !

HERE IS THE “MEAT AND POTATOES”

Bs”d

On Shavuot (The day of giving of the Bible-Torah), revelation of it is given renewed each year. On that day the structure of the creation is changed as :

The Yesod of Z”a (the potential revelation of the ruach, emotional soul ) is face to face with Malchut ( the Nefesh, soul of animal desires ) , and Z”a ( Source of the Ruach- Emotional soul ) rises to the balance of Yesoi”t ( The Conclusion of the Nashama, place of actualization of one’s intellect ). Z”a ( Source of the Ruach- Emotional soul ) receives Divine creative powers of wisdom , analysis, understanding and the ability to do kindness to God and Man and force of discipline of Dat (divine Knowledge). Yesoi”t ( The Conclusion of the Nashama, place of actualization of one’s intellectual balance ) rises up to Atik (the source of delight in divine will ) they becoming unified. Yesoi”t ( The Conclusion of the Nashama, place of actualization of one’s intellectual balance ) is with Abba (source of Divine creative powers of wisdom) and Imma (source of analysis, understanding) where theres revealed creative powers of wisdom and powers of analysis, understanding of Arich ( source of divine will), and the “tammim” (notes of song of Divine emination) of the Divine name having numerical value of 63 called ס”ג (numerical value of 63 of יהו”ה) of A”k (Adam Kadmon, the face of God containing all others ) are revealed. This is above the “Parsa”(curtain-filter). By Netzauch (work of spiritual vigor-giving your all) by this there is nullified the”parsa” yielding revelation of י”ה (ya”h).

All this rises Z’a ( Source of the Ruach- Emotional soul) to Arich (source of revelation of Divine will). After staying up all night learning and Mikva in the morning There is revelation of the dikna (conduits) of Arich ( giving new inspiration of Divine will-prompting actions ). 1\2 of Teferet (new level of harmony) of powers of analysis and understanding is given to the force of Divine will which directs one’s ruach (emotional soul). giving new understanding to the place of delight of the Ruach- emotional soul, developing there more delight in serving God). The mikveh, before “netz” is the 50th gate of Binah, the mystery of the Well of Living Waters. With these waters are the awesome fragrances of Gan Eden,This is the 50th Gate of Binna (Divine understanding).

There are many themes given in the Torah for Shavuot but “The holiday of Giving of the Torah” is not one of them, While The Torah specifies a date for all other holidays, it never tells us the date of Shavuot! Why ?

The Torah refers to Shavuot as ” Hag Ha-Katzir” (Holiday of “Cutting,” , harvesting) : Exodus23:16. also as “Yom Ha-Bikkurim” (Day of the First Fruits): Numbers 28:26 and simply as “Shavuot” (feast of “ Weeks”): BeMidbar 28:26, Devarim 16:10.

The 50 gates of Divine understanding are the 5 Chassadim (forces of God’s giving) of the ruach (emotional soul). The dikna Kadisha (conduits of Mercy that open up the flow of Divine abundance-they are open by the Names of Mercy) of Arich (divine will) are called Whiteness. To draw this Whiteness of the dikna of Arich to ourselves we dress in White. Revelation of Arich on Shavuot is not done by “delug” (a great leap) as an the seder night of Pessach, but it is in levels grade by grade. The simplest and most effective way of attaching to this new Light is by connecting to all parts of the Bible. So meditate on secrets in each book. So work hard to yield the highest revelation. ! King David was born and died on Shavuot. Shavuat is His day !

We learn that the residents of Haifa

could not pronounce Hebrew words properly:

“We do not allow to pass before the Ark men from Haifa or men from Beth-shean or men

from Tib’on, because they pronounce he as chet and ayin as alef

EMBRYO

There are three partners in the creation of a human being: God, his father and his

mother. His father supplies the white seed, out of which are formed the child’s bones,

sinews, nails, the brain in his head and the whites of his eyes. His mother supplies the

red seed, out of which is formed his skin, flesh, hair, blood and the black of his eyes. And

G‑d gives him the spirit and the breath, beauty of features, eyesight, the power of

hearing and the ability to speak and to walk, understanding and discernment. When his

time comes to depart from the world, G‑d takes away His part and leaves the parts of his

father and his mother with them

What is the form of the embryo? At the beginning of its formation it is like the [species of

locust called]”rashon”; its two eyes resemble two fly-droppings, likewise its two nostrils and two ears; its two arms are like two threads of crimson silk, its mouth is like a barley-

grain, its trunk like a lentil, whilst the rest of its limbs are pressed together like a

formless object, and it is with regard to this that the Psalmist said, “Your eyes have seen

my unformed substance” (Psalms 139:16).

How does the embryo lie in its mother’s womb? It is folded up and lying like a writing-

tablet. Its head lies between its knees, its two hands rest on its temples, its two heels on

its two buttocks; its mouth is closed, but its navel is open; its food is that which its mother

eats, its drink is that which its mother drinks, and it does not discharge excrement lest it

should kill its mother. When it issues forth into the open world, that which had been

closed is opened, and that which had been open is closed.

HERE IS THIS WEEKS PARSHAT GREAT PLACES IN THOUGHT PARSHA BAMIDBAR

GREAT PLACES IN THOUGHT- PARSHA BAMIDBAR

TURNIN

update June 29 2018                                                       Updated

BaBAMIDBAR                                                               בס”ד

The book of “Bamidbar” (Numbers- It literally translates to In the Desert) has ten “parashot” (portions of weekly readings) in it. Maybe these coincide with the Ten Commandments. This Parasha is usually read on the Shabbat before Shavuot. As the “Midbar” (Desert)  prepares us for the giving/receiving of the Torah. Sefer Bamidbar or in English The Book of Numbers describes a journey that begins at Sinai and continues until Bnei Yisrael arrive at the shores of the Jordan River. During this 40 year journey the nation of Israel learns religious and ethical ideals that will be implemented in the land of Israel. We  see

The numerical value of the word  “במדבר”  (in the Desert) is 248, alluding to the number of positive commandments and bones in a man’s body. It is interesting to point out that the number 248 represents the same numerical value of the words  בצלם אלהים  (in the image God) and בדרך הטוב (in the righteous path). This comes to teach us that when we walk in God’s way . in His image, and fulfill the commandments , even the most difficult places like a  desert will not be so difficult for one who follows Gods will.

The Torah was given in the desert to show Yisrael  and the world for generations to come the ultimate protection one can have in very harsh conditions, by accepting the Torah and fulfilling it. Let’s try to imagine taking millions of people through one of the most dangerous Deserts in the world. Without water, food, and with all the dangerous elements such as animals, snakes, heat, etc. Yisrael were provided for with water, food, shelter, and protection from all the dangerous elements and at the end of this journey came out just as they went in. Only by the Divine miracles of God, the clouds of glory and the merits of the Torah. Were Yisrael  able to survive and even thrive in the desert. Yisrael witnessed so many miracles while they traveled in the Sinai Desert, their daily lives were all above nature and defied logic.

Our universe is not a solid immutable reality but It exists in a fluid ever changing state of continuous creation. Most people are not aware of this now but for the forty years after the Hebrews left Egypt and lived in the desert they survived through continuous miracles. Manna fell from heaven , Clouds of Glory that protected them.Their survival was clearly dependent on God it was impossible to sustain the illusion that it was natural. Such living is the opposite of todays illusion. To some extent this fluid ever changing state of continuous creation is still in play today, but it and its “applications” are not revealed. This awareness is deeply implanted within the soul. According to the dominance of one’s obsession with the physical world it is concealed from consciousness.

The secret of the “Mishkan” (Tabernacle) is that the glory of God that appeared upon Mount Sinai should be hidden within it.  The concept is that God’s revelation to us at mount Sinai  continued in the context of the “Mishkan” ! The “Mishkan”  endured various temporary conditions such  as in Shilo and Givon until it reached Jerusalem. The moment it arrived there and the Beit HaMikdash (Holy Temple) was built, the Temple Mount and  Jerusalem were endowed with ultimate sanctity.

In the beginning of this week’s reading, God commands Moses:  “Take a census of the whole Israelite community by the clans of its ancestral homes, listing the names [lit.according to the number of names], every male, head by head” (Num. 1:2).  Let us examine this unusual expression:  “According to the number of names.”  This expression seems like an oxymoron, for it concerns two opposites.  A person’s name expresses the hidden inner essence.  A person’s name is individual, belongs only to him or her, and attests his or her essence; but number expresses quantity, size.  A soldier in an army receives a number, his individual personality being erased as it were, turning him into a cog in the wheel. The sages say in midrash that the God had the Hebrew people counted so many times because they are so dear to him. They were counted when leaving Egypt, after killing those who worshiped to golden calf, and on the first of Iyar after the “Miscon” was set up. Its written in the Torah : “The Israelites shall encamp troop by troop, each man with his division and each under his flag” (Num. 1:52). The place of the individual within the generality finds expressions in a flag,  Consider, how by a flag we identify many individuals who all belong to a single group. We know  they have common objectives, they all work together to promote the groups goals ?  To  explain this we use flags.  Similarly, a flag is used as a symbol, identifying a country. This basic level of flags exists in every nation, society, and public group.   The flag serves as a national logo.  The nation of Israel is not merely a collection of individuals comprising a whole, Rather Israel is a whole that finds expression in its individuals. The role of the individuals is to elevate, move forward and propel the nation upwards in Holiness.  It is a wonderful thing that we who are called the nation of Israel, are on earth to make it into a light unto the nations. To carry the teachings of the Torah forth from Zion and the word of God from Jerusalem.  The flags reminds us of the great responsibilities that have been placed by God on the Jewish people. We are supposed to identify with these ideals our flags remind us of and live by the principles they stand for and to promote the ideas  the flags of the Tribal encampment in the dessert  express. This is much like it is above as we see in the Midrash. When the Holy One, blessed be He, was revealed on Mount Sinai, two hundred and twenty thousand angels came down with him, as it is said (Ps. 68:18), “God’s chariots are myriads upon myriads, thousands upon thousands.”  And they were all arrayed by flags as it is said (Song 5:10), “flags among ten thousand.”  in Hebrew the word for flag here is “dagul”, like by the encampment in the desert. Each of the 12 tribes of Israel has its own flag as by the union of pluralities of  our  people we are called a nation. The Midrash Tanchumah concludes:   “The Holy One, blessed be He, said to them ” By the merits of these banners, I shall redeem you.”  The aspiration of each and every Jew to serve as a living banner for the Holy One, blessed be He, in this world will, God willing, hasten Redemption. The camp of the Israelites was not a melting pot, but rather the individual tribes preserved their own identity, each under its own flag and  the message the flags carried. Know, these counting were specific to the Jews and did not include the “Erev-Rav” (the mixed multitude) who joined Yisrael as they left Egypt. This part of the Torah some call the book of Numbers has some very interesting numbers. Moses, along with Aharon counted Yisrael’s males between the ages of 20 and 60 years old, reached the total amount of 603,550. It is interesting that  the counting made  right before the completion of the Tabernacle, in the book of Exodus (38:26) amounts to a total count of male between the ages of 20 and 60 years old is the same number , “six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty men. This is also the exact amount of silver collected from Bnei-Yisrael when they gave half a shekel represents the same number; the total counting of the males between the ages of 20 and 60 years old – 603,550 ?

The Hebrew people encamped with the God in their midst in the desert. They were not  occupied with pleasures of this world. There focus was always the God in their midst. In a certain sense the Hebrew people always need to see their life being encamped with the God in their midst at all times.

This weeks Haftorah (The portions of the Bible God told the Prophets to have read in public on each Sabbath) begins “ And the children of Yisrael shall be as the sand of the sea that can not be counted or measured “ Yet right in the beginning of our parsha it says “Take the heads of all the congregation of all the children of Isreal by their families houses, numbering of them, names of all the males by their skulls”.

Now it is known that a blessing does not rest on that which is counted. As the haftorah says “That can not be counted or measured “. At other times all Yisrael were counted by the 1/2 shekel coin each year donated to the Holy Temple in Adar. By doing this the people were never counted, only coins. But what about this counting of the people ?. We learn from the Shalah Hakodesh in Sni Luchot HaBrit that blessings don’t rest on that which is counted when its measurement is intrinsically physical, being part of the material world. As such numbering by its nature creates limitation, but numbering in context of the spiritual worlds does not impose limitation. Numbers in the context of the spiritual worlds does not imply limitation as each such number advances towards great achievements. So here we don’t have counting as with physical things, but what we have here is as it states counting of “ gilgulatom “ (their skulls). In the Zohar it talks about the eminations from the “ gilgulata “ (skull) of parzufim (structures that emanate and reveal Divine energy). In this context “ gilgulata “ refers specifically to the aspect of the parzuf called Arich Anpin (long face), this parzuf is the place of emination and revelation of the will of God. Concerning the skull of parzuf Atik Yamin (place where delight is eminated from) are great secrets which are seldom heard. Here we can find infinite wisdom. It was spoken concerning the skull by Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochi in the last moments of his life in a body on this earth at the idra Zuta. The final gathering of Rabbi Shimon and his companions of the Zohar. This we celebrated a short time ago and each year it is celebrated where he is buried in Maron with at least 400,000 people. It is the largest celebration Here in Aretz ha Kodesh. There shall be left in the land of Israel in the Time of the Mashiach 7000 people. These are the secret of מ”ב to their skulls. This is the secret of מ”ב from which the world was created. And in the souls of these Sadeekem it is ruled.

From Rebbe Shimon we learn that the skull is full of dew, it contains a membrane that surrounds the brain and a atmosphere. To it is a beard of pure wool containing 13 attributes of Divine mercy. A forehead that functions as supernal will, a eye of providence that is eternally open. Nostrils of His nose to breath life force. The flow of chuchmah (Divine wisdom) is called scent. All wisdom of the world is from the nose of Arich. The beard is made of whats called dikna (conduits). When the dikna of parzuf Atik (place where delight is eminated from) are clear it illuminates the Dikna of parzuf Zier Anpin (Source of emination of the emotional soul) drawing down 13 passages of supernal oil (Divine wisdom). Then in the dikna of Z’a we find there are 22 tikuney dikna (conduits of corrective eminations). It is from there we draw out the 22 letters of the Holy tongue, 22 letters of the Torah and all creation.

So the counting here is more like a recognition of each Isrealite being set aside for his supernal purpose from the powers manifest in the “ gilgulata “ (skull). As the Shalah said concerning spiritual counting “Each such number advances towards great achievements”. Thus here Moshe is setting aside each individual in Yisrael by their “ gilgulata “ making them sanctified, separated and distinguishing each according to their distinct part in the Holy nation. The Torah stresses that every person was counted by  their “ gilgulata “ (by his skull).  Meaning, as an individual. In other words, the unique characteristics exclusive to each individual are not to be suppressed or destroyed, but protected and  integrated into the national whole.  As Holiness infers separation. So here Moshe designates each individual of Yisreal distinguished at the “ gilgulata“ level (his powers, purpose). As

each person in Yisrael has their own singular characteristics and qualities. Thus we must help each individual fulfill there potential and only then as a people we will be complete. The lack of potential by any single individual in Yisrael can impact the functioning of the entire nation, God forbid hindering  the completion of their mission. Thus, any threat to individuals is seen as a threat to the whole nation. Individuality and national Solidarity are  necessary and actionable imperatives. Solidarity and unity among the nation of Israel is from a Conventional fellowship we entered at Sinai. It is this that unites all Jews. This is not a voluntary undertaking.  once the Israelites accepted the Torah, they were and are bound together by bonds of legal — not emotional — solidarity of Torah law. Even more than this we know, “all Israel are guarantors one for the other.” We are responsible for the behavior of one another. Thus as much as the precious nature of the individual in Yisrael is essential and must be preserved, developed and protected. The collective aspect of Yisrael  being “all Israel are guarantors one for the other.”  is also unique among our nation. This involuntary status imposing the lifestyle of Torah law on the nation of Yisrael marks the distinction between the correct Jewish worldview and that of the rest of the world. As much as the Torah teaches us here how essential our true individual character is important to our “tikun” (fixing of our soul and the world). Do not be mistaken and think as people do today. I am by no means advocating a “I-society”. A society where its individuals main concern is ONLY for  want they want and attitudes like I’m too busy to raise a family, I have to a make a name for my honor  before I die. Increasing individualism, at the expense of communal well-being appears in societies that are in decline.

May it be from this act of Moshe designating each individual of Yisreal distinguished at the “ gilgulata“ level (his powers, purpose) there should soon manifest the complete energy of redemption. With the revelation of our righteous Mashiach quickly in our days.

Bahar                                  בס”ד

The land of Israel belongs to God, we are only tenets on it. The land has its right and rules by which we must live by. Most obvious are the laws of “Smitah” (Sabbath year ) and “Yovel” (Jubilee Years). Engraved on the Liberty Bell, now in Philadelphia is ” Proclaim LIBERTY through all the land to all the inhabitants thereof “. This is a mistranslation of a verse from our parsha. “You will proclaim release throughout the land for all its inhabitants.” THIS REFERS TO EVERYONE RETURNING TO THEIR GOD GIVEN LAND WHICH CAN NOT BE SOLD FOR EVER ! Our parsha begins “and Yhv”h spoke to Moshe in Mount Sinai”. Then there follows instruction from God concerning the smittah (7th) year, laws concerning slaves, laws concerning protecting and providing for the poor and regulations regarding farming the land. The Biblical prohibition on planting and harvesting the land in the 7th year is the earliest recorded record of the much later modern farming  technique of leaving fields uncultivated for a season, called “crop rotation” this allows the soil to restore nutrients.

With the “Smittah” year Jewish people are forced to cease their labors in their field for a year this gives one the time to do hard work for what actually counts God for a whole year. Its like taking a year sabbatical from work.  With more time to devote to spiritual pursuits and increased Torah study. One needs to work God hard to in the “Smittah” year as they depend on Him to provide for their needs in this year more than other years as for the “Smittah” year their sustenance will not be dependent on the the work of their own hands.  This is the connection between Shemittah and Mount Sinai. Through Shemittah, one develops a deeper connection to the Torah of Mount Sinai. So “Smittah” is singled out in Parsha Bahar.

To begin with we must ask why does this part of the Torah begin with the words “In Mount Sinai”?. Wasn’t all the Torah given at Sinai ?. There is a very important lesson to learn here. We could say that all these laws in a sense are “In mount Sinai”. The place of the Chuchmah of God. His creative inspiration. The projection of the voice of the Elohe”m Chyim (Living God). In the middle of our parsha is the law against taking interest. The prophet Isiah says “He has taken interest. Shall he live ?. He shall not live. “ The Sages say this refers to the world to come. This also refers to the aspect of the soul called Chayah . This aspect reveals Chuchmah (creative inspiration). It is because of this aspect that Rashi explains that the wicked are dead while they are still living in this world. While the righteous are alive even when their physical existence ceases. Life is only when one is enlivened by the revelation of the part of their soul called Chayah (living). Which is Divine inspiration. The law forbidding taking interest on a loan is central in our parsha. As its violation in a sense is a violation of the most central basis of the Torah to promote as Rabbi Miller says “ a happy commonwealth”. This happens when all people work together to help one another, not in competition against one another. The rules of jubilee teach us a profound lesson. All Jews are landowners forever. There are no serfs. Each and every Jew alive today has a plot of land that actually belongs to him by birthright. When the laws of jubilee will take effect again the land owned by each Jewish family will return to us. It has always been ours.

In this parsha is also given the law of yovel (50th year). In this year all land returns to its original owner. Rabbi miller explains that this is to prevent homelessness. As each Jew is Given a portion in the land by God. Rabbi Bergstien once said that before a person can approach revelation of Divine thought, have a relationship of love with God. They must first love the creatures He created. They must act in a righteous way in the matters of this world. Rebuke over matters such as this is a major theme of the prophets. As error in these ways destroys the foundation for a relationship with God, God forbid. Isaiah says “Woe to those who join house to house and field to field, they draw close till there is no place (for the poor)” (5:8). Jeremiyah says “For wicked men are found among my people, they lie in wait as a trap bites. They station an ambush, they catch people. As a cage is full so are their houses full of deceit. They have become great, they have become rich. They have become fat, they have become thick. They also transgress in deeds of wickedness, they don’t plead the cause of the orphan that they should prosper. The judgment of the poor they will not judge ” (5:26) Amos says: “Who aspire on the dust of the Earth concerning the head of the poor ” (2:7) “the head of the poor” Rashi explains that all their aspiration on the earth is how they will exploit the poor. Michah says “They oppress men” (2:2). Zacharia says ”So said YHVH TSAVAOT saying, execute true judgment and perform loving kindness and mercy, each one of you to his brother. Do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the stranger or the poor man ” (7:9-10) Malachi says ”I will approach you for judgment, and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against those who swore falsely, and also against those who withhold the wages of the day laborers, of the widow and the fatherless, and those who pervert the rights of the stranger, don’t you fear me says YHVH TSAVOAT ” (3:5). These are just a few of their words. The prophets warn us greatly concerning our give and take while in this world. The parsha concludes after giving these economic laws with “You shall not make any idols”. The love of our fellow creatures is basic to act in any other way is as having a strange Go”d. They have made a idol.       One way of observing the Smittah is by buying produce  from the Palestinian Authority and Hamas but this is obviously not a good idea for many reasons. Slightly above it is the solution of importing produce from Europe. This make food more expensive and hurts Israeli farmers. Besides this produce does not have the Holiness of “Shemmitah” produce which is a privileged to eat.

In 1888 a group of the most esteemed European rabbis (and the Chief Rabbi of Jaffa) came up with an innovative idea which has become known as the “heter mechira” (literally: permission to sell). They proposed, that just as on Passover we sell our Hametz to a non-Jew, for the Sabattical year, the entire land of Israel may be sold to a gentile, so that the Jews could work the land. …By the time the next shmita cycle came around in 1895-1896, the rabbinic authorities agreed to permit the sale of the land of Israel for that sabbatical year. The rabbis concluded that reality dictated a need for such action because the people could not observe the laws of shmita in its strict interpetation. In the years of 1910 and 1911, Rav Kook allowed for the sale of the land as well, reaffirming that although it was not ideal, it served an important purpose. …In the years that followed, the decision to sell the land was reevaluated before the arrival of each shmita cycle. Once the State of Israel was established, the Rabbanut (Chief Rabbinate) accepted the sale of the land every year. This achieves a goal of compromise with the requirements of reality while still adhering to the Torah. The problem with this is that the produce of  Another option to maintaining the laws of Smittah is called “Otzer Bait Din” (courts warehouse) this involves turning the farming land over to the Rabbinic court. This way the land is no longer owned by a individual so the produce according to some opinions can be sold by the “bait din” and the produce still retains its “smittah Kidusha”. Not everyone agrees with this way of observing “smittah” either. A great supporter of this solution was the Chazon Ish .

The mitzot of observing Smittah are a unique privilege for those of this generation to those have returned to the new “Yeshuv” settlement of the Holy Land. A problem with “hether mechira” is the produce does not have the Holiness of smittah produce as that only pertains to produce grown on land of Aretz Yisrael owned by a Jew. Another way of observing “smittah” is by Greenhouses & plots separated from the ground. But with these too since the produce is not grown on land of Aretz Yisrael , but in Greenhouses & plots separated from the ground so the produce also not have the Holiness of “Smittah produce”. Take notice the Holiness of “Smittah” produce is unique. Unlike “trumah” one does not have to be a Kohen to eat it. Unlike “kodshim” (sacrifices) one does not have to have purity from death (Red Heafer) to eat it. “Smittah produce” has a unique sanctity !

The problem is the majority of the public is unaware of how to keep the laws of Smittah’s sanctity. Since “Smittah” produce is Holy restrictions apply to it most people are unaware of.

The commandments of the ” Smittah and Yovel ” (sabbatical and Jubilee years) help to generate an equality between the wealthy and the poor: For this it is written  “ The Sabbath of the land will be for you, for eating …..  for you, for your servant and maidservant; for your hired worker and for your resident who dwell with you.” (25:6).. With every 7th year is the relinquishment of ALL DEBTS. We are talking about a different kind of world.  In the Yovel Year land returns to its original ancestral owners family. The primeval division of the land among the tribes. This system prevents homelessness and promotes prosperity. ” Smittah and Yovel ” years  resets  market forces and societal status. The bottom line seems that God took us out of Egypt as slaves and made us free men and he does not want us to make ourselves slaves by economic oppression or do so to others. Torah values are economic values which value a commonwealth of mankind, a loving brother hood. As witnessed by the laws of Smittah and Yovel

The laws of yovel and Smittah are only a Biblical obligation in the land of Israel when the majority of the Jewish people live in the Land of Israel, under their own rule. Today, when many Jews are dispersed throughout the world, the law of Shmitah is observed only as a Rabbinic decree and not because it is a Biblical obligation. In the economic conditions of the modern world farming is a big industry and food grown in Israel is not only consumed locally but much is exported. It would be an economic disaster to follow the strict interpretation of the laws of Shmitah. Another aspect of “smittah” Chyim Vital teaches that the Ar’I teaches that those who say that our present “smittah” (sabbatical period) is the second are in error. You will now understand the mystical reason why we call the seven millennia , which we are presently living in, the 2nd “Smittah” (sabbatical-period). It is because it is the second order of creation after the “Kings of the land of Edom.” Thus, our present sabbatical-period of seven thousand years is not the second “smittah” because it was preceded by another period of seven thousand physical years, but because it follows the spiritual “smittah” of the world of Tohu, the emanation of the seven “smittah” that preceded the present order, that of Tikun. in this respect the earlier authorities erred. They said that if this is the second sabbatical-period, then there must certainly be in the end a total of seven such periods then will be a great “yovel” (Jubilee year year).

The Chatam Sofer says that the “Yovel”  commences upon the completion of forty nine years based upon the Lunar calendar, even if 49 “solar years” (365 days per year) have not yet elapsed.
The Chatam Sofer further points out that had Yisrael entered Eretz Yisrael as originally planned we would have arrived there at exactly the fiftieth “Yovel”  since Creation. The calculation is based upon the fact that Klal Yisrael left Mizraim 2448 years after Creation. The Chatam Sofer was hopeful that the 112th “Yovel”  since creation corresponding to the year 1827 would bring the Schechinah back to Eretz Yisrael. According to the Chatam Sofer’s way of calculating the “Yovel” , the last “Yovel”   passed  in 1973  which was the year of the Yom Kippur War..

The next “Yovel”  according to the Chatam Sofer would be 2022 (5782). May it be with this  Blessed and Sacred Year. Great Expectations with God’s Help will be fulfilled.

However,  According to Rabbi Yehuda in times of “Galut” the “”Yovel” ” is counted differently. When the 2nd Beit Hamikdash was destroyed “Yovel” was changed.
According to this way of calculating the last “Yovel”  Year was 5727 (1967) the year of the Six Day War and Yerushalyim was liberated. This was the 48th “Yovel”  since Ezra in 3416. Based upon this analysis the “Yovel”  Year 49 years later was the year  5776 (2016).

The subject of slavery repels most people. In Parsha Bihar it says ” Both your male slaves, and your female slaves, which you shall have, shall be of the nations that are around you; of them shall you buy male slaves and female slaves.”  The Torah does make know that Freedom is ultimately for those who, unlike the slave whose ear is drilled with an awl, truly desire it. The doorpost here evokes the memory of the doorposts upon which the Israelite’s placed blood on, on the eve of their redemption from Egypt. Here the Slave chooses to reject the opportunity for freedom and he then symbolically steps through the doorpost that ushered him into freedom back into slavery. FREEDOM IS THE ABILITY TO DO GOD’S COMMANDMENTS — ARE OTHERS ARE SLAVES TO THEIR EVIL INCLINATION. That not every slave is entirely ready for freedom is vividly illustrated by the constant  complaining by some Israelite s all they want to do is go back to Egypt and be taken care of, to be slaves. There was a brief emancipation of all slaves in a time of crisis. The Babylonians were at the gates. The slaves were released, apparently to help fight off the enemy. As soon as the crisis was over, the slaves were enslaved again. Jeremiah deplored these developments (Jeremiah 34).  Slavery in the ancient world was a given  reality, much like the employment opportunities today. Given the human propensity to indebtedness stimulated by the economies of the world then and now.

The parsha finishes saying “ You shall keep my Shabot”. Shabot is Time of the revelation of Chuchmah (creative inspiration). Which is the inheritance of those who act in love towards all creatures following the laws of the Torah day in and out till that we reach the day that will be all Shabot with the arrival of our righteous Mashiach quickly in our days.

BS”D Bichukoti

Parshat Bechukotai  contains “The Tochachah,” (warning rebuke) section that vividly describes the horrible calamities in painfully rich detail that will befall the Jewish people if they don’t listen to God and don’t observe His commandments. (Va’Yikra 26:15). Jews are entangled through commandments to God. When Jews insist on independence from God their transgressions bring Torah curses in this world or next or both. Jews who live NOT FOLLOWING TORAH their relationship with GOD LACKS PERSONAL PROVIDENCE they could have. The relationship imposed on us with God by the Torah  is a two-way street.  In “The Tochachah” its written   “I also shall walk unto them with “keri” (randomness)…” . This is because of non observance of the Torah. When that happens, all Hell breaks loose. When Jews got disentangled from God, they became deprived of their Divine protection and became prey to the forces of nature and nations of the world. The admonitions, “The Tochachah,” are the prophecies of future misfortunes that can happen as a result of our sins. What described his is what follows automatically because of disentanglement from the Divine.

. The verses of admonitions called“The Tochachah (are also called curses). Much of them revolve around a mysterious word – “keri” – spelled Quf-Resh-Yud. This word shows up for the first time here, it is repeated seven times, never to be found in the whole of Scriptures (Tanach) again. These are the verses containing this word:

  1. “And if ye walk unto Me keri…” (Lev. 26:21)
  2. “And if in spite of these things ye will not be chastised unto Me, but will walk unto Me keri…” (Lev. 26:23)
  3. “And then will I also walk unto you with keri…” (Lev. 26:24)
  4. “And if ye will not for all this hearken unto Me, but walk unto Me with keri…” (Lev. 26:27)
  5. “And then I will walk unto you with a fury of keri…” (Lev. 26:28)
  6. “And they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquities of their fathers, in their treachery which they committed against Me, and also for having walked unto Me with keri.” (Lev. 26:40)
  7. “I also shall walk unto them with keri…” (Lev. 26:41)

The word “keri” plays the central role in this rebukes, because it is the condition on which the curses are based – “And if ye walk unto Me keri…” Amazingly, the punishment is also summarized with the same word – “I, also shall walk unto them with keri…”

What does this word mean? Rash”i – Rabbi Shlomo Itzhaki  and Rashbam – Rabbi Shmuel Ben Meir, a leading French Tosafist and grandson of Rashi (1085 – c. 1158) – derive the root of this word from the word “kara “– “to happen.” Thus, they translate keri as “casually” or “inconsistently.” According to most commentators, this word connotes casualness, happenstance or randomness. In this understanding, if the nation serves God haphazardly, inconsistently – it is counted as a sin. “If they walk casually with Me,” says God, “I will walk casually with them.Rabbeinu Bachya and the Ohr Hachaim teach that  the word “keri” connotes an erroneous world-view ascribing everything to a blind chance. Being a view of the world, in denial of  Divine Providence.

The “Tochachah,” is very scary, being full of Frightening prophesies of the exile and tragedies that would befall Israel. There is a custom to call no one to the Torah for the reading of the verses containing the (admonitions)  Tochachah,” – the reader of the Torah himself  makes the blessings himself without his name being called.

There is One specific law whose violation is mentioned explicitly in relation to the Tochacha, “Then shall the land make up for its Shabbat years throughout the time that it is desolate and you are in the land of your enemies…It shall observe the rest that it did not observe in your Shabbat years while you were dwelling upon it” (26:34-35). Strangely, it seems that the lack of observance of the relatively remote laws of Shemittah (which occurs only once every seven years) can cause the exile. As the Seforno says, “[The Torah] singles out the laws of Shmittah of the land because failure to keep them causes exile from the land. Our right to remain in the land of Israel depends on the fulfillment of this particular commandment.

Shmittah involves three rules. First, during the seventh year of the cycle, no agricultural work such as planting or plowing may be done. Second, all produce that grows during the seventh year is considered Hefker (ownerless) and may be taken by rich and poor alike, no matter who owns the farm or planted the seeds from which the produce grew. Also, no one is allowed to hoard produce in the usual fashion of harvesting. The third rule is that the seventh year automatically cancels all loans. Borrowers are released from their obligation to pay back, and lenders are forbidden to press the borrowers for their money. The laws of the Smittah, protect the rights of the poor and down trodden upon this our dwelling in the land depends. We also see this in the words of the prophets who give us many rebukes against social injustice as the prophet Isaiah states:

” The wasted city is broken, every house is closed for entering “. (24:10)

Rabbi Kara states this is Jerusalem, formerly the joyous city, it will be called the wasted city. The Radak and Ibn Ezra tell us that most houses shall be deserted. There will be no reason for anyone to enter.

Know. “Svit” produce of the 7th year is uniquely Holy and is meant to be eaten. It is the only food with elevated Holiness, like Trumah but it is permitted for any Jew to eat, and one does not have to eat it in purity like Trumah.

In our parsha called “In my Statutes” we find not “statutes” discussed. These being the Biblical laws which defy human rational explanation, but what we find here are “mispotim” , this is the category of laws involving social regulations. We find laws concerning vows, specifically when one vows a vow to dedicate something to give to Hashem.. Beginning with a person’s valuation, then is discussed vowing a animal, his house or field and finally the parsha and the book of Vayikra (Leviticus), also called “Safer Cohaniam” concludes discussing miser, the tithe of produce and the herd and the parsha ends with the words בהר סיני. The name of last weeks parsha.. Again we see the idea as in last weeks parsha, that the social laws, “mishpotim” are essensial and fundamental thus they are delivered under the title called in “Har Seni” . This being a internal aspect of the Torah.as its written “You shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.” (Lev 19) , is the essential principle of the Torah. But why in the beginning of our parsha does it say Bichucoti (In my statutes) when “statutes” are not discussed in the parsha. ? “In my Statutes” literally alludes to the commandments called “mispotim”. As Rabbi Bergstien once said that one must first express the love of their fellow men before approaching the True love of God. Once this is achieved one can ascend upward through the love of Hashem through the “chukim” (Statutes). Thus in the midst of the statutes are the “mispotim”, as the marrow of the bone is where the blood is produced. This is enough for those who understand. The parsha begins telling us of Blessings for observing Gods Laws and curses for their non observance. The Torah requires from us observance of Its “mishotim” (Social Laws). They being a revelation of love for our fellow creations and proper conduct in society. While the inner aspect involves the expression of love of Hashem , that is expressed by “chukim”. “Chukim” are the major body of laws in safer Cohaniam, where we find laws concerning the service of the Cohaniam in the offering of the Holy Temple.. But in our parsha “Chukim” are not taught but our parsha discusses vows which are of the group of mitzvoth called “mishpotim”.. Vows are fundamental to all, as all depends on honesty. As the Torah is called Torah אמת. Thus we see here that to be in this state of “Har Sini” requires complete honesty. One may think that if they say one thing and do something else it is no big deal but in our parsha we see many curses for one who does not stand by their word. So let us never forget our “obligations” and keep our “word”. The sages say that to not fulfill what one says reflects a lack of honesty. Thus we see how careful one must be with their word. Being in “Har Sini” is being in Truth. To separate from this is to separate from life itself. Thus we see all the curses in the parsha. How much better is it to walk in truth. The Torah itself is called “Truth”.

According to Rabbi Yishmael, our parsha is what Moses referred to as   The book of the covenant” which Moses read before the Israelites at Sinai; it was the subject of the covenant at their Receiving of the Torah. An analysis of this week’s parsha discerns what it the basis of the covenant between God and Israel and the platform on which all 613 commandments are based

Its written

“He took the Book of the Covenant and read it so the people could hear; they said, “All that the LORD has spoken, we will do and we will listen

In the Mechilta of Rabbi Yishmael on this verse it says:

“He took the Book of the Covenant and read it so the people could hear – but we were not told from what point he read it to them.”

Rabbi Yishmael says:

What does it say at the beginning of this narrative?

The land shall rest, a Sabbath unto the LORD; six years you shall sow, etc. – sabbatical and Jubilee years, the blessings and curses.

At the end of the matter, what does it say?

These are the statues, the laws and the teachings.

They said: We accept it upon ourselves; when he saw that they had accepted, he took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, as it says: Moses took the blood and sprinkled it upon the people.

He said to them: you are now bound; tomorrow, come and receive all the commandments.

Rabbi Yishmael skips from the middle of the book of Exodus all the way to the end of Leviticus to identify the portion of the text in question called “The Book of the Covenant”. The first is the opening verse of our parasha: “The LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying.” (Leviticus 25:2).

The “The Book of the Covenant” includes Torah concerning the sabbatical and Jubilee years, the blessings and curses, the exodus from Egypt, the freeing of slaves. ON THESE THINGS THE COVANANT IS BASED !

When we examine the Hebrew text of the verse “Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.” (Vayikra 26:42) we find that here is the ONLY PLACE IN THE WHOLE TORAH WHERE YAAKOV IS spelled with an additional letter vuv before the final letter. This highly unusual. The God certainly know how to spell so this must allude to something deep.

Rashi on this brings a Midrash (Toras Kohanim 8:6) which notes that there are four other places in the prophets where this spelling is used. The sages explain that these five examples correspond to the five times that Eliyahu’s (Elijah) name is spelled unconventionally without the vuv.

The Midrash further explains that Yaakov “took” the extra letters from Eliyahu as a guarantee,  that Eliyahu would one day herald in the redemption. Hence, the Midrash concludes, the source of the extra letter vuv in Yaakov’s name is the missing letter from Eliyahu’s name.

Yaakvov understood that, given Eliyahu’s mission of peace, we would need the power of the letter vuv. One of the primary grammatical uses of the letter vuv is to joins things together. This alludes to the fact that the greatest guarantee of redemption is creating peace within our communities. This is the most certain way to make sure that Eliyahu returns for the redemption.

Then we can see the words of our parsha fulfilled “ You shall eat the old, and bring forth the old because of the new you bring out” with our righteous Mashiach quickly in our days.

The “SHAVUAT”, day of giving of secret Torah ———————- LOG B OMER !

 LOG B OMER

Rabbi Shimon was a incarnation of Moses and came to the world to reveal the Secrets of the Torah.

The time had come to reveal the Torah’s secrets, and he had been Heaven-sent to fulfill the mission.

Rabbi Simeon ben Yochai together with his son Elazar hid from the Romans, first in the Beth Hamidrash (House of Study) and later, whcn the danger became even greater, in a cave.

At the entrance of the cave, a carob tree started to grow, and running water started to flow. Thus, in a miraculous way; both father and son were sustained throughout their stay in the cave for thirteen years!

During these thirteen years, Rabbi Simeon ben Yochai and his son studied the Torah continually and they delved into the deepest secrets of the Torah and of God’s creation.

On emerging from the cave after an absence of 13 years, Rabbi Simeon ben Yochai became even more famous as a holy man and great Tanna (Teacher). They went to Tiberias to cure themselves in the warm waters of that town, as their physical condition was very poor due to their continued stay in the cave.

From the midrash  Misa Daniel we learn that there will be made judgment upon the wicked and it will be a time of great joy to the sadeekem. This will occur in the month of Iyar on its 18th day. On this day will be loud sounds in the mountains and valleys. All the earth will shake, the sea and all within. THE 18TH OF IYAR IS LOG BA OMER !

Tiberias was then considered to be an unclean town, as it was held to have been founded (by Herod Antipater – a grandson of Herod the ”Great”) on the site of a cemetery. When Rabbi Simeon ben Yochai and his son were cured by the hot springs of Tiberias, as a sign of gratitude they occupied themselves with finding out which part of the town was unclean, and they declared the rest of the town to be clean and therefore habitable even for Kohanim (Priests-who are not allowed to become defiled by the dead).

There are those who say concerning discovery of the Zohar that it was found in the Land of Israel by Moslem workers who were serving Christian masters. The Moslem workers unearthed some clay jars, inside of which were some ancient scrolls. The worker then took the scrolls to his Christian master who could not decipher them. The Christian master then went to a local, but trusted Rabbi who was indeed able to recognize and decipher the scrolls, and thus the Zohar was discovered. The scrolls were then smuggled out of the Holy Land in Jewish hands who traveled on a Templar ship. They made their way to Spain and into the hands of Rabbi Moshe DeLeon. It is allegedly he who then transcribed the scrolls and published the Zohar. The Christian masters were the Knights Templar who were searching the Temple mount at the time.

It is interesting to note that in 1290 the Zohar was published in Spain. Almost immediately, without any noticeable objections this body of teachings was embraced by the entire Torah world as the authentic teachings of the Tana Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohai. The Zohar infused back into Judaism mystical knowledge that was lacking for a very long time. What we do know is that 14 years after the Zohar reached Spain and the gave Judaism needed rejuvenation, forces within the Church dealt a crushing death blow to the Templar movement. Do not let the secular academic view concerning the origin of the Zohar mislead you. Their opinion is what is to be expected by men with out faith, Wisdom of God. Know, R’ Yitchok M’ Acco was sent by the Ramban to investigate the Zohar. From him a document exists that brings witnesses that attest to the existence of the Zohar manuscript from which Moshe DeLeone made his copy which he published. In the Zohar are quoted and mentioned many earlier works which are now unknown such as Sifra de-Adam, the Sifra de-Hanokh, the Sifra di-Shelomo Malka, the Sifra de-Rav Hamnuna Saba, the Sifra de-Rav Yeiba Saba, the Sifra de-Aggadeta, the Raza de-Razin and many others.

In the Book called Zohar is included a number of sections or books including Sifra diTzni`uta/Book of the Concieled (ספרא דצניעותא). There is a tradition that this teach originally was from Yaakov Avinu (Jacob in the Bible). The Idra Rabba/ (The Great Assembly), at this gathering were 9 of Rabbi Shimon’s friends, they gathered to discuss great and deep secrets of Kabbalah. The nine are: Rabbi Eliezer his son, Rabbi Abba, Rabbi Yehuda, Rabbi Yossi bar Yaakov, Rabbi Yitzchak, Rabbi Chezkiyah bar Rav, Rabbi Chiyya, Rabbi Yossi and Rabbi Yisa. Before the Idra was over, three of the students died: Rabbi Yossi bar Yaakov, Rabbi Chezkiyah bar Rav, and Rabbi Yisa. The Idra Zuta/The Smaller Assembly (אדרא זוטא),The Smaller Assembly,” distinguishing it from the Greater Assembly, “Idra Rabba,” . In the Idra Zuta Rabbi Shimon‘s colleagues gather again but this time only seven in number, after the three mentioned above died. At this gathering Rabbi Yichak dies and Rebbi Shimon reveals the highest secrets and leaves the world himself. The book Ra`aya Meheimna, (The Faithful Shepherd) is the largest “book” included in the book of the Zohar. In it Moses comes down. He is called, the “Faithful Shepherd”. He teaches and reveals to Rashbi and his Holy Friends, secrets of the Torah’s commandments. Another book found scattered throughout the Zohar is called Midrash haNe`elam (The concealed Midrash) (מדרש הנעלם) Midrash haNe`elam is located within the Zohar in parashat Vayera, Chayei Sarah, Toldot and the Zohar Chadash (pp. 2b-30b; 46b-47b (in the Zohar Chadash edition by Rav Reuven Margoliot), and in parashat Balak, Ki Teitze, and the entire Zohar Chadash on Shir haShirim, Ruth, and Eikah. The Midrash haNe’elam is mostly about the upper level of soul called Nashama. The Idra deVei Mashkana (Assembly of the Tabernacle) is mainly with the secrets of prayer, and is found in the Zohar Vol. 2, parashat Mishpatim (pp. 122b-123b). The Hachalot writings (Palaces) describe the palaces of Gan Eden, and Gehinom, and contains many matters related to prayer. They are found in the Zohar Vol. 1, parashat Bereishit (pp 38a-45b); Vol. 2 parashat Pekudei (pp. 244b-262b, Hachalot of holiness and then pp. 262b-268b, The Hachalot of impurity. The part of the Zohar Raza deRazin (Secret of Secrets) deals with revealing the nature of a man accoding to reading the features of his face and hands. It is found in the Zohar Vol. 2,parashat Yitro (pp. 70a-75a). The Saba deMishpatim (“The Elder in parsha Mishpatim) is Rav Yaba the elder, he explains there regarding the transmigration of souls, and punishments of the body in the grave. It is found in the Zohar Vol. 2, parashat Mishpatim (pp. 94a-114a). Tosefta are paragraphs containing the beginnings of chapters on the wisdom of the Kabbalah of the Zohar, and it is dispersed in all three volumes of the Zohar. Sitrei Torah is a part of the Zohar concerning hidden secrets of the soul and the secret of Divinity, and they are dispersed in the Zohar Vol. 1. There is also Tikunei haZohar it is composed of seventy Tikunim (corrections) involving and explaining the word “Bereishit” (בראשית). Also there is the Zohar Chadash (The New Zohar) (זוהר חדש). It was first printed around the year 1558, some thirty years after the first edition of the Zohar was printed. The Zohar Chadash is similar to Zohar itself and is arranged according to the parsha of the Torah and the Megillot. Within Zohar Chadash is what is called Sitrei Otiyot (“Secrets of the Letters”) and Midrash haNe`elam,. There is Midrash haNe`elam on the megillot: Shir haShirim, Ruth, and Eikhah. There is also Tikunei Zohar Chadash, תיקוני זוהר חדש.

ZOHAR

Rabbi Aba said that after Rabbi Shimon uttered the word ”life”, all his words ceased. The light in the room was so great that Rabbi Aba could not look, and two voices were heard saying ”For length of days, and long life”, and then, ”He asked life of you”. We are told of the miraculous events that happened during the rest of that day. Rabbi Aba said, the holy luminary barely finished uttering ”life,” when his words ceased. I was writing and was about to write more, yet heard nothing. I did not raise my head, because the light was great and I could not look. I then trembled and heard a voice calling and saying, ”For length of days, and long life…” (Proverbs 3:2), AND THEN I heard another voice, ”He asked life of You…” (Psalms 21:5). All that day the fire did not cease from the house and no one reached him for they could not because of the light and fire that encircled him. I was prostrated all that day on the ground, crying loudly. After the fire was gone, I saw that the holy luminary, the holy of holies, was gone from the world, wrapped around and lying on his right side with a smiling face. Rabbi Elazar his son rose, took his hands and kissed them, while I licked the dirt under his feet. The friends started crying. Rabbi Elazar his son prostrated three times and could not open his mouth. He then started saying, Father, father, there were three that BECAME one again.

THAT IS, THERE WERE THREE GREAT MEN IN THE LAND, RABBI ELAZAR, RABBI SHIMON BAR YOCHAI HIS FATHER AND HIS FATHER-IN-LAW RABBI PINCHAS BEN YAIR. NOW RABBI ELAZAR IS ORPHANED OF HIS FATHER-IN-LAW AND HIS FATHER RABBI SHIMON AND ONLY ONE REMAINS IN THE WORLD. NOW, AFTER THIS GREAT TREE IS GONE, UNDER WHICH THE BEASTS OF THE FIELD USED TO WALK AND IN WHICH BOUGHS DWELT THE BIRDS OF THE SKY AND WHICH HAD FOOD FOR EVERYONE, NOW the beasts will wander and the birds THAT USED TO DWELL IN ITS BOUGHS will sink into the chasm in the great sea, and the friends, INSTEAD OF THE FOOD THEY RECEIVED FROM IT will drink blood.

Rabbi Chiya rose to his feet and said, Up until now the holy luminary used to protect us. Now is the time to strive to honor him. Rabbi Elazar and Rabbi Aba rose and took him to a bed made like a ladder.

Who has ever seen such confusion of the friends! The whole house emitted good fragrances. They raised him on his bed, and none served him but Rabbi Elazar and Rabbi Aba. Bullies and armed people came from the village of Tzipori.

They WANTED HIM TO BE BURIED THERE AND CAME TO TAKE HIM BY FORCE. They thought his merit would protect them.

The inhabitants of Meron drove them away and shouted at them in their multitudes, because they did not want him to be buried there,

BUT WHERE THEY THEMSELVES LIVED.

After the bed left the house, it rose in the air and fire burned before it. They heard a voice, ’Come and gather to the feast of Rabbi Shimon. ”shall enter in peace to them that rest in their graves”‘ (Isaiah 57:2). . When he entered the cave they heard a voice inside the cave, ’This is the man who caused the earth to tremble, who provoked kingdoms. How many prosecutors in the firmament are quieted today for your sake. This is Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai, with whom his Master glorifies Himself daily. Blessed is his portion above and below. How many supernal treasures await him. Of him it says, ”But go you your way till the end be, for you shall rest, and stand up for your allotted portion at the end of the days”‘ (Daniel 12:13).

Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, Of Blessed Memory alone was given permission to reveal the great mysteries contained in the hidden teachings and to distribute free gifts (Zohar III:124b).

Prior to Rabbi Akiva’s passing, this great teacher of the Jewish people summoned his two beloved disciples, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai and Rabbi Meir baal HaNess. They asked Rabbi Akiva which of them would be replacing him. Rabbi Akiva said, ”Rabbi Meir shall take over the position as head of the Yeshiva.” Then turning to Rabbi Shimon he said, “It is sufficient that your Creator and I know the level your greatness” (Talmud Yerushalmi, Sanhedrin 2).

Why do we celebrate the day that Rabbi Akiva’s students stopped dying  if that is when they were all already dead? except for five disciples, Rabbi Meir, Rabbi Yehuda, Rabbi Yosi, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, and Rabbi Elazar Ben Shamua carried the torch of Torah forward, and the majority of the Torah we learn today come from those five student’s teachings

Rabbi Shimon said, ”I have the power to correct the entire world; I can exempt the whole world from judgment.” (Talmud Sukkah 45b).

Rabbi Shimon was leaving the cave where he and his son Rabbi Elazar had been in hiding from the Romans for thirteen years. They were talking about the righteousness which exists in the world when Rabbi Shimon said ”It’s enough that you and I are in the world.” Another time he said, ”I myself have sufficient merit for the entire world.” (Talmud Shabbat 33b; Sukkah 45b)

These teachings only reveal a small degree of Rabbi Shimon’s greatness and give only a partial glimpse of the true benefit he brought into the world. This being the case, we celebrate the passing of the True Tzaddik, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. This in itself is a great wonder, an obvious contradiction. How can we celebrate and enjoy Lag B’Omer, when it recalls the day when such great good and benefit was taken from the world? What kind of celebration is this? On the contrary, we should rend our garments, as for the destruction of the Temple; as our sages taught, ”The passing of a Tzaddik is more severe than the Temple’s destruction!”

Many miracles occurred when Rabbi Simeon and his son were in the cave, until Elijah the Prophet came and informed them that the Emperor had died, and they could come out into the open. They taught the Torah to many disciples, also instructing them in the Mystic science known as Kabbalah, revealing to them many secrets which now form the holy Zohar.

For hundreds of years the teachings of the Zohar were handed down from one generation to the next until a great scholar, Rabbi Moshe the son of Rabbi Shem Tov de Leon – who lived about 650 years ago, published the holy Zohar that Rabbi Simeon ben Yochai had compiled.

From that time on, the Zohar has been widely studied by the Jews, and is considered to be very holy. Many great scholars studied the Zohar and found it to be an unending source of inspiration to uplift the soul and to reach the loftiest heights in the service of G-d.

Rabbi Simeon ben Yochai died in Meron on Lag B’Omer, and his Yahrzeit is celebrated to this day. Many thousands of Jews with their children gather in Meron, in the Upper Galilee, where they spend the night and day of Lag B’Omer in prayer and study, and are inspired by the holy teachings of ”Bar Yochai.”

After 32 days of the Omer (paths Chuchmah), days of preparation so to receive knowledge of GOD. Then on the 33rd day of the Omer, the Upper Wellsprings of Divine Knowledge open up, and and we are then given as a gift knowledge far beyond our learning. For, just as the Rashb”i, on Log B’Omer that year, revealed great lights of Secrets of the Torah at that time, Lag B’Omer each year acts as a conduit for Divine light to those who desire, and are prepared, to receive it. The 33 day of the omer is the sefira Hod of Hod (splendour of splendour). From these powers is the revelation.

Log B’Omer was a special day already back in the time of Moses in the desert, for it is the day on which the mana began to fall, just after the matzah they had taken from Egypt ran out.
