PURIM— A ADVENTURE IN WONDERLAND “INCOGNITO”

Purim and Redemption    בס”ד

Todays Hamans are the Jew haters of the world,  who seek “to destroy, to murder and to bring to an end all Jews, from young to old”. Somehow they forever with us. until the final redemption will bring a end to them !

It says In Megillah 5a That Rabbi Judah HaNassi planted a tree on Purim. Purim is pretty important, it says in gemora Magilla that 48 prophets and 70 elders including Chagi, Zacharia and Malachi enacted the Holiday of Purim. The day of Purim is likened to the day we received the Torah. In Masechet Shabat it says the Jews experienced the miracle of Purim with such happiness and ecstasy that they took upon themselves to keep the Torah with a whole heart, as the verse says ”they received and established”, as though they were standing on Mt. Sinai. Supernal Purim is the idea of eating the Atz Dat (Tree of Knowledge) and its tikun (correction). Haman is in the Torah as it says ” המן האץ you have been commanded not to eat ” and ” “המן הסלה הזה ” Referring to the rock Moses hit. Ester is in the Torah as it says :

ואנכי הסתר אסתיר פני ביום ההוא על כל הרעה אשר עשה כי פנה אל  אלהים אחרים

Here the word “ester” refers to God hiding his face. It is when God hides his face from Yisrael that there is the greatest troubles to them. Rav Slomo Levinson says this is also referred to when the face is described as שחר or קדרות

In Gemora Sanhedrin we learn that from Purim we begin to discuss the laws of Pessach as is stated by Rabba to Rabbi Nachman. Rabbi Nachman  of Bresslov teaches that Purim itself is a preparation for Pessach, and it protects us from Chumatz on Pessach. The Aor Ganuz teaches that in purim there changes עינוי (troubles) to עונג (pleasure) as פור is “Rachamim” and forgiveness which is made in Purim.

To understand this let us look at the mitzvot of Purim. The Mitzvot of Purim may seem less Mystical than waving the Lulov on Succoth or blowing the shofar on Rosh Hashanah, or the Seder of Pessach, but it must be understood that the Mitzvot of Purim such as Hearing the Maggilla, sending gifts to friends, sending gifts to the poor, Having a meal and getting drunk are like the nature of Purim itself, only disguised as something Natural, but being the will of Hakodesh Baruch Hu arise from a lofty place. These mitzvot which seem so common every day things as giving gifts like Purim itself come to remind us of the hidden face of GOD, that happens around us continually. It is known that there is no chance occurrences. GOD controls everything there is, and all that occurs. We see this when looking closely at each of the commandments. How blind are the eyes of men to the wonders of GOD. So much having to do with Purim seems to be hidden, from the absence of Hashem’s name in the Megilla, to the  costumes, the very name of Esther,  in Hebrew comes from the root “hidden”. Esther אסתר, when spelled backwards is “Rosha teva” [the initials of the words for] of “rosh” (head) , “toch” [middle], and “sof “ [end], together with the letter alef, spell Esther [backwards]. Purim is the holiday of hidden things, the invisible hand of God, whose light is hidden throughout the story but is recognized only by those who know to discern it. Like in our own lives ! The “Aor Ganuz” writes that in Machut is called Ester. Here is remembered “Brit Olam”. From this they quickly return to Hashem. The deliverance of Purim took place through a series of  seeming like accidents or coincidences, which were really the hidden working of the Divine hand. Mordecai, was moved by great piety , was very religious and felt a strong  sense of responsibility and caring for his community and people. And through all this, so had to  refuse to submit to flesh and blood whatever the consequences. God brought about a miraculous  redemption in the guise of nature. It seems  Purim reminds us of the subconscious subliminal spiritual  forces active  in the lives of  men that continually create, form, shape all that is.

There is a custom to dress up in a costume on Purim. There are those who say this costume appears like one’s “yetzer hora” (evil inclination). Hopefully by recognizing the evil in oneself one will then actively work to defeat it. Then Purim becomes what it’s meant to be a day of real “teshuva” (repentance). By recognizing the costume that our evil inclination hides in we can come back to our real self, which is the Godly soul that the costume conceals.

THE MITZVA OF

DRINKING ON PURIM

Chatam Sofer writes that the idea of drinking on Purim is to repair the drinking that was done by the Jews at the party of Achashverosh, which led to other sins. The Abuderhem writes that the reason we are commanded to drink wine on Purim is to remember all the miracles that were brought about through drinking at parties during the Purim story. Firstly, Vashti’s downfall came due to all the wine Achashverosh drank, then, when Esther replaced her, Achashverosh made another party. Most importantly , Haman’s downfall came during the party that Esther had prepared for him and Achashverosh. Another important lesson of the Purim story is the Memuchan (sages say is Haman) planned for his own daughter should become queen at the cost of Vashti’s demise. However like all the plans of men they can “back fire” and it did by Esther being placed on the throne of Persia instead of his daughter. Haman created the problem and its solution.

We need to shake off all of the accepted certainties that conceal the truth from us. The sages teach “when wine enters secrets emerge” (eiruvin). In our generation we very much need our inner secrets to come out and be revealed.

The Rebbe of Kotzk writes that drinking wine on Purim is a segulah for prayers to be accepted. The Yigael Ya’acov brings down from his rebbe, the Imre Yoseph of Spinka that by drinking wine on Purim we bring the Geula closer and the building of the Beit Hamikdash. The Yitav Lev says that drinking wine on Purim is a segulah for Parnasah, that they will not have to chase after their livelihood, but that rather, it will come easily to them. The holy Rebbe of Zidichov says that drinking on Purim is considered as great as fasting from Shabbat to Shabbat, an entire week without food or drink!

Make no mistake though Purim is not just a drinking party. The Mitzvah is to drink wine. The Gr”a in his Safer Hachalot teaches. There is wine that is called “guarded”, it being wine that brings the drunkenness  of “Olam Haba” (the world to come). It being wine of Bina  (Divine understanding). This is a unique kind of drinking. We are describing being drunk on Bina  (Divine understanding). Rabbi Shabatto teaches  that Mordichy is the Yesod of Chuchmah therefore on Purim it descends to the world. Dat does not have power to receive this light. For this reason we drink wine to remove this blockage of Dat so it is a obligation to לבסמי on Purim till one “Does not Know”. Only then can the light of this chuchmah enter intellect (and wont be blocked by your current level of Dat. We are obligated to לבסמי פוריה   This is the secret of love between Yisrael and their Father in Heaven. As love comes forth from Chuchmah and fear from Bina. From understanding one comes to fear and he who is a “Chuchum” (from Chuchmah) will love the God. YomKiPurim is in Bina. On the day of Purim illuminates Chuchmah, even if wine is the aspect of Bina. As the wine of Purim reaches up to the level of Chuchmah and even higher till the aspect דלא ידע  which is the source of Bria. Even if Purim is a day of Chuchmah which is usually connected to oil, we drink wine. As we don’t have the power to comprehend this Chuchmah except by Bina which corresponds to Wine. In Purim from the Magilla and wine we are connected to Bina in the sefira of Chuchmah where Bina and Chuchmah are joined in the secret of אהבה (Love). In the future all the books of the prophets will be nullified except Migillat Ester. As the books of the prophets are in the aspect of fear but the future will be in the aspect of love. So then we will still read from Ester and the Song of Songs. Purim is on a very high level. Purim is unique as it is of the time of the future redemption. As we have said after All the books of the Prophets and Writings except the “Song of Songs” will become obsolete because the troubles which they speak of will no longer be relevant in the time of the Messiah but the Megilat Ester we will still read… as it says “and the days of Purim shall not depart from among the Jews and their memory shall not cease from their descendants.'” (Ester 9:28)

The Jews of ancient Persia celebrated their stunning victory over their enemies who the very next day had legal authority to kill them all. This victory did not come about through the Hands of Heaven. No, every Jew had to get his hands “dirty” and fight and kill those who sought to fight and kill them. The real miracle was two-fold. The first miracle was that a new law was instituted that gave the Jews first crack at their enemies. However, this first miracle alone would not have saved anyone. The second miracle required the Jews of those days and in those lands to actually rise up, arm themselves and physically seek out, fight with and kill those who wanted to kill them. If any of their enemies were to survive and live to see the day of the 14th of Adar, then the law would have been of their side to kill Jews with impunity. Therefore the Jews of the time had to be very thorough to make a quick finish of all their enemies. For the Jews of those days to rise up, pick up arms and actually shed blood, even the blood of those who so clearly wanted to kill them, was a great miracle. An ever greater and often over looked miracle is that Achashveirosh hated the Jews as much as Haman did for the king, Achashveirosh to change his mind and not kill the Jews is very unusual miracle . For a number of reasons. Achashveirosh loved money. He held his 180 day party because he wanted to show off his great wealth, which was something new to King Achashveirosh  as he inherited all his wealth by marrying Vashti who was the daughter of the king of Bavel, Nebuchadnezzar. For Achashveirosh to change his mind and not take Haman’s money and not kill the Jew who he did hate is rather strange. Sometimes man’s free will is taken. Esther had seen what had been done to Vashti and so she knew king, Achashveirosh was an unpredictable fool and that her life therefore constantly hung by a thread, so she was not with him willingly. Mordechai was told his remembrance in the Kings book of Chronicles had been erased. Haman had already endeavored to have it erased, but afterwards the angel Gavriel rewrote it.The angel Gabriel has “ inkwell of the scribe at his waist.”

The “Aor Ganuz” writes that Easter is described as going in to the king not according to “dat”, meaning not at the time she was invited and the penalty for this is death. But Ester put the life of all the Jewish people before her own. She entered before King Achasvarosh not according to “dat”, meaning She entered without Her Husband Teferet “In your right hand is אש דת to your people. The intent of the force of “gulut” is to nullify the Torah. This caused the destruction of the first and 2nd Temple. Ester alludes to the Shechinah in “galut”. The “emuna” of Malchut the nations do not come upon. So Achashvarosh could not come near Ester. One must guard themselves from the nations in “galut”, guarding the Shechinah in “galut”, with her children, the House of Yisrael. This is the secret of ” I am with my people in their sufferings. The nations can not come close to this “kavanah”, of the Malchut. So in the place of Ester a Demon would come and visit Achashvarosh in the place of Ester, it had the appearance of Ester. In Isiah it says ” I will not give my Glory to another”. Mordichy knew by “Ruach Hakodesh that God was guarding Ester from Haman and King Achashvarosh.

Rav Shabato teaches Purim is not called day of the miracle but it is a holiday named after the lot, the גורל. of Haman. Purim in not celebrated on the day of its miracle as that began on the 16th of Nisson when Haman was hung. The main thing was on the 23 of Sivan when the king’s command to kill all the Jews was nullified, by giving the Jews permission to kill their enemies. On the 13th and 14th of Adar was made the holiday of Purim. If the miracle was the main thing the Holiday would would have been set for the 23rd of Sivan, but we celebrate Purim on the 13th and 14th of Adar to commemorate the victory over Amalak. The “Aor Ganuz” writes that in the Book of Ester is the secret of who causes the poverty of the Shechinah during exile. Haman was hung on the scaffold he himself had built (they do it to themselves or we built him up by our sins and then by “teshuva” destroyed him. depends how you look at it.).

The Magilla was given by “Ruach HaKodesh” (the Holy Spirit), Purim does not commemorate a miracle but divine providence and “teshuva” from love. The miracle was made in Sivan and on that day there is no holiday at all. They killed Amalak and took no spoil as one cannot benefit from Amalak. Amalak says “There is no individual providence in the world”. This is the main “cafira” (athiesm- anti Hashem) this is Amalak. That why its written by the incident with Amalak when the Hebrews left Egypt              “אשר קרך בדרך” (by chance on the way). This is the “klippa” of Amalak. SO THEY NEED TO BE BLOTTED OUT !.

On Purim we do the mitzvah of sadakah of giving gifts to the poor. And we have the mitzvah of sending “shalach manot” (small packages of Food). These may be small offerings, but they do have a great effect. Similar is the mitzvah of the 1/2 Shekel every Jew has to contribute to the Temple in Adar. This seems to be the idea that a little can go a long way. The Oar Hachyim tells us that the 1/2 Shekal is not a Physical transaction but works in the Spiritual worlds. It removes the rule of the stars and constellations from upon Yisrael.

The numerical value, Gematria, of shekalim is 480, the same as the number for lilly ‘wife’ of the Samech Mem (Devil). We conclude the ’weeks of shovavim’, which is a tikun (repair) for the sin of  the brit milah. (Holy covenant) This repair, subdues the negative forces, and the completion of the fixing is through the giving of the Half Shekel. The “Aor Ganuz” writes that in all places one guards the “Brit Kodesh” the God guards them, as Moshe was in צל שד”י and as Ester was protected from Achashvarosh by God.

Concerning giving gifts to the poor “Sadakah” its effects are so far reaching as R. Yeshua Ben Lavi teaches that He who continually gives sadakah will have wise wealthy children well versed in “Agada”. R. Eleazer Ben Yosi Teaches sadakah and deeds of kindness bring peace and good understanding between Yisrael and there father in heaven. R. Yuhuda teaches that sadakah delivers from death. Who can list the merits of a single mitzvah ? In conclusion R. Yochanan says in the name of R. Shimon Bar Yochi that great is the merit of supporting the needy, it brings the resurrection before its time. Charity ”Sadakah” in Hebrew ”the holy tongue” comes from the root ”sedek” (righteousness). The Zohar teaches that in Aramaic, language of the Talmud, Charity is ”zchuta” which is the same word for ”merit”. Its degree of merit is according to the needs of the recipients of the charity. Charity is a greater Mitzvah when given where its needed to the needy. Instead of giving Charity to a institution where the majority of the money donated goes into an administrator’s pocket, and only a very small amount of the donation actually helps anyone. Its better to give charity to the needy where its needed, and this truly has great merit before heaven. This is why it is a obligation to send gifts specifically to 2 poor people on Purim. We see here a little of how far reaching the effects of giving to a poor person goes.

The king Achashvarosh made a huge feast for his subjects 30,000 Jewish people attended, even if Mordichy warned them not to go. This meal angered GOD greatly. The sages say this meal got the Jews closer to the gentiles and their ways and farther from GOD. It was shortly after this that there arose Haman with his evil plans. Easter’s meal with Haman and King Achasvarosh Was direct atonement for the evil meal. So to we are commanded to make a feast during the day specifically on Purim. For no other holiday are we given a special command concerning only its day meal. This draws attention to the correction in the world made by the afternoon ”sudah” (meal) of Purim. This mitzvah atones for the sins that lead to the evil decree almost causing us to be annihilated by Haman. This meal joins body to soul. Only then is there the special mitzvah of getting of drunk. ”till the point of not being able to tell ”cursed Haman from Blessed Mordichy”. At other times such behavior is seen as deplorable. But on Purim we get drunk. Purim comes to remind us of the miraculous nature of nature itself. The Magid of Koznitz teaches that by “sacrit” of Purim we raise those who are fallen. Illuminating the eyes of the sons of Human to learn Torah. Purifying sparks in them by the sanctification of the Divine name. Raising those fallen sparks. Each Purim more are purified. Not purified by merit, but by “Kidusha” of “nachat Ruach” over the miracle of Purim.  The Magilla gives great detail of the Purim story so to make clear that Yisrael had transgressed the command of the Chuchmim. So the Magilla brings that they drank from the Temple vessels, defiling them. Ester and Mordichy were both from the seed of Shaul HaMelch who sinned by letting  the sheep and the king of Amalak live so they needed to do the mitzvah of blotting out Amalak so to make “tikun” of the sin of Shaul. as they were from his seed so the “tikun” fell on them. Killing Haman and his 10 sons who each nourished from  the 10 sefirot of the source of the Klippot (Amalak) and they expressed it by spreading out “kafira” (heresy).

The meal of Achashvarosh was Kosher Mehedrin under the “hashgacha” (supervision) of Mordichy, but the meal was forbidden as Mordichy and the Sanhedrin had ruled that  one could not eat with the wicked and they brought out the vessels that had been used in the Holy service of the Temple to drink in and defiled them. By attending  the kings feast the Jews defied Mordichy’s ruling. This is what brought the Divine ruling against them. It came to fruition because Mordichy would not bow to Haman. So Haman ordered his anger against all the Jewish people. Haman though fell by the 3 day fast Mordichy had ordained. “Mordechi the Jew was the משנה “Mishnah” (viceroy) of the king” (Ester 10:3). From him shine the masters of the Mishnah.  (Zohar Tikunim). The “Aor Ganuz” teaches that the 3 day fast of Ester rose Machut in to the Avot, into Chaga”t. Yisrael is Teferet, the Master of Malchut.

We fell by not following Rabbinic rules and were thus saved by following a Rabbinic decree. This occurred during the days of the “Omer” when we prepare to receive the Torah including the rulings of the Rabbis. The full Moon is symbolic of Yisrael. On the 15th of Adar the Jews rose to a level of Godliness higher than when they received the Torah at mount Sinai. As on Purim the Jews accepted the Torah of their own free will and not because a mountain was suspended over their heads. As the Jews of Shushon had reached the real level of “teshuva” from love of Heaven, at the level of Pessach and Succot which are also on the 15th, Shavout is not. As they were not on that level of comprehension when they received the Torah. Avraham and Sarah were both barren, unable to have children and Avraham as a master astrologer saw that having children would be impossible for him. Much like the story of the story of Purim when it look like a bad situation Hashem can change it in a moment as Yisrael is  not bound by “Mazel” The Meggilla begins with ויהי which usual prognosticates something bad will happen but Rav Shalomo Levinstien points out that the Meggilla begins with ויהי and here is signifies things will change to there very opposite. This is why ויהי is gematria א”ל

The food at the feast of King Achashvarosh was of the Arz HaDat dressing in common food. Then Haman complained to Achashvarosh who is as the serpent. Who tempted “Chava” (Eve). Ester is “Chava”. This complaint dressed in Haman as a ruling of death against Yisrael. Nashama is a aspect of אסתר ,
. Mordichy is the “Yetzer Tov” and made “tikun” on the forbidden meal by ordaining the 3 day fast.

The Aor Ganuz teaches that Ester is “nikud penimi” the upper Shechinah. We learn in Atz Chym from the Ari Hakodesh That Ester is called השחראילת (doe of the morning). She is described green being the aspect of the “green Kav” which is Bina that surrounds the world. Its from this green kav nature’s nature is created. By this level of revelation we can understand what must be done as never before. This revelation of the shechinah is of such great beauty the Ar’i compares it to a virgin. The Kamarna Rebbe teaches Ester was like a green “etrog”, as She was green. Ester dressed in Malchut. Rabbi Aslag explains concerning this That the color of the illumination of Chuchmah in Malchut is called Ester. It is as gold-green, the color of the Etrog. Green like Gold is Chuchmah in “Chassadim”. Mordichy is such a level that His power nullifies power of מרדכי=בלעם+בלק =לאה+רחל +2 This is a very high level such that the Ar’i teaches in Mavua Sharim that in “gan aden” souls have a garment described as זך (shinny). Mordechy  is soul of Benyamin included in Yosef. (a aspect of Mashiach ben Yosef, too bad most Yisreal did not return to the land during the 2nd temple period) (Sulam on Zohar Tikunim 360) Mordicy and Ester merited this garment while still in this world. This is what it means when it says, they had garments of “Malchut”. This is the aspect of אפר (dust of the earth), but as before the sin of Adam. By this “malchut” one certainly takes part in governance, providence of the world. The Aor Enyim reveals that on Purim the Yesod of Abba is revealed going out of the Yesod of “Parzuf” Rachel which is the “magilla”. Purim has the “ateret” (crown) of great gold of Chuchmah, and chesed. It Spreads out Chesed of Arich which dresses in Aba, from the side of “din” of Imma. Concerning this Chesed the Ar”i teaches in Lecutim that light is revealed in the Yesod from “Chesed Elyon”, this is the “leviyaton”. This is the “cord of Chesed” that illuminates in Malchut that is Ester. It is hidden in Abba and Imma in the secret of “ד”.

The Rashas”h teaches that during the exile of Bavel Zu”n stood back to back in “mochin gadlut” (developed consciousness) of Abba and Imma. After 70 years the “mochin” left Z”a. Then came Mordichy and Ester and the light was renewed. From Shar Cavanot we learn Purim is the time, and preperation right before redemption. It was for Pasach that Ester declared a 3 day fast . No Matzoth was eaten that Pasach. This was unbearable before heaven and evoked mercy that caused the sleep of king Achasvarosh to become disturbed. This disturbed sleep of king Achasvarosh occured on the night following Esters first feast and Haman setting up his Gallows to hang Mordichy, which was the 15th of Nisson. This resulted in him searching His Chronicles and remembering that Mordichy had saved his life but has not been rewarded. This led to the raising of Mordichy and the downfall of Haman and his evil plans. The Yalkut Shimoni teaches that it was the merit of eating of the Corban Passach of previous years’ merit which stood up to protect the Jewish people in the time of Haman. This brings us back to our original question of how it is that Purim protects us from “chumatz” on Pessach? In the simplest sense R. Shimon teaches “chumatz” is the evil imagination, like a haughty man it rises up. Arrogance can only occur when one does not know who it is they stand before. As Pharoe who represents the evil inclination said “ Who is GOD ? “ Purim reminds us to see GOD in all things, especially those things people take for granted as being mundane, coincidence and by “ chance “. This is essential as if we forget, then GOD has to remind us. As Rashi teaches us that Amalack is the dog GOD sends to bite us ש “חו when we forget where GOD is. To clarify this further we see in Pesicta of R. Kahana that Edom tries to make Yisrael go out side of the Torah path, but beyond the path’s borders GOD has placed the dogs. We see this idea reflected in the verse from Tihilim “ flatten it flatten it to its very יסוד ( foundation ) “ The sefira Yesod is sometimes call צדק (righteousness), the proper path. Edom would like to push Yisrael off the proper path to the dogs. How important is it to practice righteousness in one’s supposed mundane activities. Their give and take in the physical world. As R. Kahana teaches that you may be certain in a generation whose weights and measures are false will have a wicked kingdom wage war against them. So why does it appear in this world that the wicked seem to prosper ? One’s whose business practices exploit the poor. We can understand this by looking at the relationship between Yomkippurim and Purim.

Why is Yom Kipurim כ (like) Purim ? Just as on YomKipurim a lot is drawn and from it is chosen a goat to be given to distract the accusers on high. Like throwing a dog a bone. Then Yisrael is judged favorably. So too is the story of Purim. The wicked one drew lots trying to find when according to astrology would be the best time to attack Yisrael, Yet this too is only a distraction as there is no such time. As GOD rules within Nature. From The Ner Yisrael we learn פור (lot)=(2)קמ”ג . GOD controls the “lot”. The wicked think they are prospering in their evil way , but the truth is as Adam Ha Reshon Said “ The wicked thrive as grass, all the evildoers flourish in order that they may be destroyed for ever “. This will be when their cup of inequity is full and they inherit their lot. The “Aor Ganuz” writes that YomKipurim is like Purim becouse in the future at this time (Yom Kipporim) they shall rejoice. On Yom Kippor its forbidden to wear sandels but of the time of redemption it is written “How beautiful are your feet with shoes”. As by the Malchut shall be delight and pleasure in the time of redemption

Yom Kiporim is like Purim and a lot different. Purim is much different then any other holiday. It celebrated in Isreal on 2 separate days depending on if one lives in what was a walled city in the time of Joshua, Also one needs to hear the Megilla read twice once in the evening and then again in the morning. We never have a day and evening reading of the same Parsha at any other time ? Yom kippor every one knows is a big test ALL IS THEN IN THE BALANCE FOR DEATH OR LIFE . Yet so is Purim but its a hidden test so people wont notice. To aid in this kind of test we must get drunk. On Yom Kippor one is on there best behavior, all try to act like angels , then its like we are wearing a costume. But on Purim while drinking the real you is revealed. Will one join the masses in a all night drinking party or will they be up in the morning to hear the magilla again, have the day meal of Purim, the only Holiday we are commanded to have only a day meal and then do the mitzvah of drinking ?

On a certain level, The Gemora seems to portray Purim as the flip side of Tisha b’Av (the day of fasting and mourning for the destruction of the Temple). Av we are commanded to diminish joy with the beginning of the month of Av and with the beginning of the month of Adar we are commanded to increase our Joy, in a sense, these 2 are diametrically opposed days. By  Purim we witness the  “happy end,” of  the Divine Providence called ” hester panim” (God’s hidden face) but Tisha B’Av bemoans the tragic events that can  result from the Divine Providence called  “hester panim”.

After Masiach comes there will be no longer Pasach, Rosh Hasanah or Yom Kippor but Purim will continue to be celebrated. This is a celebration of the absolute and complete destruction of Amalack.

The “Aor Ganuz” writes that the world is heading to a time when it will be only all Shabot. At that time the Zohar says Then will be nullified the “Yom Tovim”, then the moon will be in its completeness. But the days of Purim will not be nullified with the coming of Mashiach, may He come quickly in our days. Then there will be face to face revelation which has been missing all the days since the Holy Temple has been destroyed. except sometimes during “Tefilla”.

It is good to have in mind before the reading of the megila that in the merit of this mitzva, God should exterminate all the evil powers of this world, which is related in “Rosh ha Teva”  (the first letters) of the verse, ’to remove the filth from the land.’ Please note, that the God always helps, but it is we who are commanded to wipe out Amalak. If Shaul would have killed the King of Amalak Agog who was the last of Amalak left alive instead of letting him live long enough to impregnate a women there would have been no more Amalak and Haman would then never have lived and maybe there would have been the complete redemption at that time with the complete blotting out of Amalak, by no means should we show mercy to Amalak.

Rav Shaboto teaches Purim is separate from all other holidays as its light is so great that we are not on the level to receive it but it descends unto us. Unlike on Shabbot where there illuminates in it light of Chuchmah and in the 3rd meal is aroused mercy of Keter and here we have to rise above to receive this light. But by Purim the Light descends to us below ! Other Yom Tovim the we rise a little and the light descends a little and this is why work is permitted. The time of Purim is time of the “Anshey Kanesset Hagadolah”, (The Great Assembly). The holidays enacted by the sages are greater than those from the Torah itself. They are as Jewelry sent by the bride to the groom so to make him more desirable to her,

The holiday of Purim is from sefirah of Chochmah. After the Messiah comes it will be the last holiday to go. Even after we no longer need Yom Kippur to access its holy light in the eighth millennium, Purim will still be a unique time. Only in the ninth millennium will the light of Purim shine everyday, at a very advance stage of Olam HaBah (the World-to-Come). Purim now, opens up access to light of the ninth millennium, the light of the sefirah of Chochmah. Shabbot gives us access to the light of the seventh millennium and Yom Kippur to the light of the eighth millennium. Purim is higher than all of these !

Rav Shabatto teaches that there are 2 “yichudim” of Hashem one is in fear and the other is in love. Kahalet ends his book saying “The end of the matter is to fear Hashem”. While the Song of Songs is “yichud” in the aspect of love. Cooresponding to these are the 2 days Yom CiPurim which is “teshuva” out of fear and Purim which is “teshuva” out of love. On Yom KiPurim we receive the Torah out of fear on Purim we receive the Torah out of Love. As it says in the Song of Songs “Bring me to the house of wine, your banner is over me for love.” In the Magilla its written יכתב להשיב את הספרים (8:5) becouse out of “teshuva” from love on Purim there will be nullified the evil that has been written in the book and sealed as his judgment on YomkPurim. So its written in Magillat Ester יכתב להשיב את הספרים (8:5) referring to the books that were sealed on YomkPurim. This is according to the Chida.
Purim brings the physical and the spiritual closer this is as God’s hidden presence in the seemingly chance events of the Purim story. Also  the repeated use of the word Ha-Melekh, “the King,” in the Magilla   alluding to simultaneously to Ahasuerus and to the Almighty King of Kings (Esther Rabbah). Many Magilla have the word Hamelekh  as the first word in each column.

Rabbi Chaim Vital immersed in a mikva erev Purim as was his custom before every Shabbat and festival. Shabbat clothing is worn on Purim, and if women have gold jewelry, Rabbi Yoseph Haim writes in ’Ateret Tiferet’, they should adorn themselves with such Jewelry to honor the festival. The custom is to say, ’Cursed is Haman’ three times, and intend to bring down the Samech Mem and his legions, and so to say three times, ’Blessed is Mordechai’, as was the custom in the Holy Yeshiva, Beit El. During the morning reading of The Megila, when the words, ’for the Jews was light and joy, happiness and riches,’ the custom is to touch and kiss one’s tefilin. Before making the festive meal, after reading the Megila and concluding the morning prayers, a person should immediately perform the ’mitzvot hayom’, by gifting gifts to the poor (matonot l’evyonim’) and afterward, ’sending food to one’s friends’, ’mishloach manot’, and then begin his personal festive meal, so too was the custom of the Ari’zal, and the Ra’shash.

R. Moshe Cordevero in Shur Kumah teaches that from the מאמר (creative utterance) that were made by Mordichy and Ester there was a מאמר by GOD added to their אמירה (loving type of speech). Becouse a מאמר by GOD joined to their אמירה the power of Malchut extended to include all the people. Such a מאמר has the power of a ruling of the King. Concering this its tought if you want a ruling of the King call the sefirot of the מאמר that is needed. By this there will be a arrousing of the king without doubt. The Ramcha”l in his safer Tefilot in # 515 says that by אהי”ה Haman was given into Esters hand’s (אהי”ה is a name of the כסא). כסא=אף(anger)

Haman and Mordechai both set out for Persia, Moedechai to plead for building the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and Haman against building the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. Haman who was greedy, ate all his food at once, while Mordechai allowed enough to remain for the whole journey. Soon Haman became very hungry and begged Mordechai to share the remainder of his fare with him. At first, Mordechai refused his request, but later, he relented on the condition that Haman agree to become Mordechai’s slave. As they had no paper to upon which to write a contract, Haman wrote the following pledge upon the sole of Mordechai’s shoe: “I, Haman the Agagite, have sold myself to Mordechai as his slave in consideration of bread.” Since then Haman could never forgive Mordechai for his humiliation, and he was in constant dread lest Mordechai enforce his slave claim over him. Even more that this :

The son of a Jewish slave owner of his gentile slave is his property. So Yishmoyal and all his offspring are truly slaves to the Jewish people. Thus there is no need to promise to give us the lands of Yishmoyal for they belong to us as a slave does not own land but it belongs to the slave’s owner, the Jewish people.

The servants of the king did not know about the hidden hatred that there was between Mordechai and Haman, because they did not know that Mordechai was a Jew. (Mordechai was not Charadi).

The Temple is a place of unity, on both the territories of Yehuda, son of Leah, and Binyamin, son of Rachel. Here, brothers are united.

Like the Beit HaMikdash itself, Mordechai is both of Yehuda and of Binyamin. Mordechai represents unity and harmony, reconciliation and clarity. There was a man of Yehuda in Shushan the capital, and his name was Mordechai, son of Yair, son of Shim’i, son of Kish, a Benjaminite. (Esther 2:5)

“Achashverosh” is always written in the Megillah in full, with two vavs, except here :

“And King Achashverosh imposed a tax on the land and on theisles of the sea.”  (10,1) Tax מס is ס”ם backwards.

Sni Luchot ha Brit Lech Licha teaches to Chant the 4 verses of the Magilla of Ester : 2:5, 6:1, 8:15, 8:16 (verses of redemption). Rav Shabbato teaches that Magilla is on a level higher then “Halacha Moshe Mi Sinai”

Say Melech loud on 6:1 , some also do on 10:13. Make a bean dish for meal as Danial would not eat Nebchanezer’s unKosher meat. Make fritters filled with beans and meat. At the meal write Amalak and Haman on a piece of paper and soak it in beer to fulfill the verse “Give beer to the wretched” (Mishle 21:6)

The Midrash Rabba writes that Mordechai ha Yehudi, after he had heard the decree of Haman, gathered together all the children who learned Torah, who were pure of soul, and began to teach them Torah. While he was teaching them, Haman entered the Beit Midrash in order to take him according to the command of the king, to lead him on the horse of the king in the king’s garments.

Mordechai thought Haman came to kill him, however Haman came over to him and asked him, ‘What are you teaching the children?’ Mordechai answered him that he was teaching the portion of the grain offerings brought in the Beit HaMikdash. Haman said, The ‘kometz’ or portion of your hand, ie; the learning of Torah you perform now, is worth more than the 10,000 shekels silver I gave to Achashverosh. It should be noted that 10,000 shekels silver was a tremendous amount of money and Haman who was not born rich but was a barber by trade most of his life and part of his life he sold himself into slavery to Mordichy as he became so poor. For him to give up so much money to kill the Jews shows just how much Amalek hates Jews. More than their desire for money. Which is one of the strongest drives to most people in this world. There is a important message here that needs to be understood most people are primarily motivated to spend almost all of his time and energy seeking wealth and power so to satisfy their appetites for bodily pleasures and  insatiable desire for honor.  Like the king Achashvarosh banqueting all day long, and sampling a different virgin in bed each night.  But Haman is not like this, he is motivated primarily by his hatred and anger against the Jews, this is whats moving Haman, unlike “normal people”.  There is something in this concerning the origins and nature of anti-Semitism. Haman spends his time when at home boasting of his importance and honor to his family and friends (Magilla 5:10-12), despite all the honors given by King Achashvarosh to Haman, this does not make Haman happy as he said   ”All this is worthless to me  so long as  Mordecai is at the kings gate” (alive) (5:13). When summoned to the king in (6:5-6) and asked to suggest a suitable ceremony of honor for someone deserving, Haman’s first thought is “Who could the king possibly wish to honor more than me?” It is this obsession with honor that gives birth to his insane, murderous jealousy, and to his ultimate downfall.

The Ari’zal writes in Sha’ar HaGilgulim that the power of Haman HaRasha which had enabled him to succeed in bringing such a difficult decree against the Jews was actually from the power of the holy sparks that had been hidden in the soul of Haman. And with this holy power, He had come to attack to the Jews. But from where did he derive this power? From the spark of the soul of the holy sage of the Talmud, Rabbi Shmuel bar Shilat, that was embedded in his soul.

The Gemara writes about Rabbi Shmuel bar Shilat that he had been a school teacher who was completely dedicated to imbuing his students with the holiness of Torah and mitzvot. And this is why Mordechai’s first response to Haman’s decree was to gather the school children together to learn Torah. Because that was Rabbi Shmuel bar Shilat’s mitzvah, and it was the power of this mitzvah that extracted the sparks from the soul of Haman. And because of this, Haman lost the power of holiness hidden in his soul, and from this point on, Haman’s downfall continued until his death, and the fall of all the enemies of the Jews. As it was in those days, so shall it be in our days as well. The sages explain that Saul’s “mercy” on the king of Amalek had severe consequences: Haman, the murderous villain of the Book of Esther, is called the “Agagite,” he was a descendant of the Amalekite King Agag.

R. Manachem Mendal of Chabad taught that when Queen Ester called on Mordichy to gather all the Jews and fast that Mordichy gathered thousands of children and taught them Torah until they became inspired to the point that they proclaimed “ we will stand with Mordichy and the Torah for life or death “ In the same day the decree against the Jews was made null and void, even if it only became known later. It is this type of devotion we must strive for in our divine service. Then evil has no leg to stand upon ! This can be seen in the teaching in Perke d Rebbi Eleazer as there we learn “ with the 4th from the little finger of the right hand GOD showed Moshe the ½ shekel, this is the finger of redemption.” It taught in Safer Ha Brit, also by Cyim Vetal and many other places that this finger corresponds to the flow of the sefira Chuchmah ( Divine Creative inspiration ). The wisdom of GOD above understanding. At this level there is no free will, only truth. The Holy Ar”i reveals that on the day of the miracle of Purim, God shined upon the Jews a great divine light, through which they were saved from their enemies in both a spiritual and physical sense. And thus every year, on that day, a great saving light comes to the Jews and shines upon them.

So what is Purim anyway, it is named after the ”pur” (lot) drawn by Haman. By definition, a lot is an object used in deciding something by chance. Therefore, in a lot, all possibilities are essentially equivalent. For the lot, ”yes” and ”no” are equal. This is alluded to in the two words for ”yes” and ”no” in  Aramaic  quoted above:

The word for ”yes” is hen, which is numerically equivalent to the word ha’kol (55), meaning ”all” in Hebrew. Furthermore, the word for ”no” in Aramaic, lav, is numerically equivalent to the Hebrew word hevel (37), which means “vanity”. These two words form together the central phrase of Ecclesiastes ” (1:2): “all is vanity,”–ha’kol hevel. This is the meaning of a lot. Rabbi Shabato teaches that Haman thought from his “goral” (lottery) the פור (lot) that went out for destroying Yisrael in Adar which is the Yesod of water, showed him he could extinguish the fire of Yisrael, and blot out the עפר (earth) of Yisrael (as during the flood). But the opposite happened. Yisrael did “teshuva” and this caused Haman to fall in Nisson which is the Yesod of fire. Haman tried to discover “mazel” that would favor him over Yisrael by doing his drawing of the פור by his “goral” (lottery). Haman could not concieve that Yisrael unlike any of the other nations is not bound by “mazel”,

The meal Lot had with the angels in Sodom was matza. Yet the meal was called “mishteh”. This word is also used in the Magilla of Easter for the meal of purim. Purim is redemption without miracles in a revealed way. Passach redemption was one of many obvious miracles. Together Passach and purim include all aspects of redemption. Lot was conducting the Passach Sader and the purim “Sudah” all as one.

The name Ester comes from the Hebrew word “str” meaning hidden or secret. Some of the most important commandments are performed secretly. Over so much we just don’t have a clue. All history is really a extended version of the Magilla, until Mashiach (The Messiah) will be revealed. Then everything will be different.

Purim we can even see in this world is not only a thing from the ancient past but it was on the holiday of Purim in 1991 that the 1991 Gulf War ended and was a good day for the Jewish people. With the reading of the megillah came the first occasion in a month and a half when people were able to leave their homes without gas masks.

Amalek  continues to plague us in many disguises, he comes as a helper of the under dog. This is one thing the masks of purim come to remind us of. Masks come to remind us that people often conceal their true intentions under the guise of noble goals even as they plot the genocide of our people. Haman’s built his antisemitism on the platform that the Jews have dual loyalty. This is recorded in the historical record as attested to by Haman’s speech in the Megillah:

And Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people throughout all the provinces of your kingdom. Their laws differ from the king’s laws. Therefore it is of no use for the king to let them be. (Book of Esther 3:8)

The Jews have dual loyalty!

The  Messiah comes from Ruth a righteous convert. She came from the nation of Moab. Moab was the son of an incestuous father-daughter relationship. Why would the seed of the Messiah come from such a place ?. God hates incestuous relationships This is hard to understand

Purim is one of the most family-oriented holidays. But, the story centers around Esther, who intercedes to save all the Jews. Esther,a Jewish women in a relationship with a gentile king, a forbidden relationship. There are those who also say that Mordechai and Esther were really husband and wife. This is all VERY difficult to understand, and none of this seems very appropriate for the the “most family-oriented holiday”. It is all to say the least very strange. So what is really going on in the story of Purim ? The truth of the matter is We don’t know. The sages have left us some clues, pieces to the puzzle that they had, and this helps but we do not have whole picture. We are missing pieces, The fact of the matter is “God’s thoughts are not as our thoughts”. The God is infinite and we are finite. There are some things one just cannot KNOW ?

It is said that Koresh (Cyrus) the king of Persia prayed to Hashem that if he gave him the head of Belshazar the last king of Bavel that he would give Hashem the Bait haMikdash. Koresh had a close relationship with the Jewish leaders in exile. Strangely in the Bible Koresh is called the anointed by God (Isiah 45:1). The Bible states that Cyrus issued decrees for  liberating the Jews and for the rebuilding of The Holy Temple in Jerusalem. The rebuilding of the Temple took place throughout the reign of Cyrus, Xerxes Who is called Ahasuerus, and Artaxerxes, until the reign of Darius II. The work was done under the guidance of the prophets, The decree of Cyrus to build the Temple is recorded in the archives at Ecbatana. There Darius reaffirmed the decree and the work proceeded to its triumphant close. The beginning of Safer Ezra speaks of these things.

May it be that we all see this fulfilled as the sages say “ till one does not know the difference between cursed is Haman and Blessed is Mordichy “, but all only the revealed will of GOD, as there is no other ! With the gathering of the exiles and the building of the Bait Hamigdash with our Righteous Maschiach in Rachamim quickly in our days AMEN SELAH !

HOW TO TOUCH HEAVEN AND HAVE HEAVEN TOUCH “YOU”

Vyatze

Bs”d

First Yaakov sees all the angels of God rising from the earth and descending from the heavens. The sages say these were the angels who supervise the nations of the world. While on top of the ladder is God who alone supervises the providence of Yisrael, the whole world and all in it. If they will only draw close to him and follow his will God would give them everything. Next are born the 12 tribes. These 12 sons of Yaacov who entered Egypt with their families numbered 70 in all as listed in Exudus. These parallel the 70 nations of the world listed in Genesis.

The ladder of Jacob’s dream is prayer. Jewish prayer (meditation) is a teaching passed down from their Prophets. It is written in the Zohar that the ladder in Jacob’s dream is a metaphor for prayer (Tikunei Zohar #43).In the dream, the ladder represents prayer as the connection between man, situated at the bottom of the ladder, and God who appears at the top of the ladder. The numerical value of sulam, ladder equals 136, the same as kol, voice. The ladder is the voice of prayer rising from the heart of man who is firmly entrenched in the physical world below, till it reaches the heavens and God who is ever present above the ladder. Through the act of prayer man’s consciousness rises from rung to rung, and although standing on the earth, his or her spiritual awareness is truly elevated to the heights of heaven. The Arizal taught that prayer itself is comprised of four sections or rungs on a ladder and that these sections relate implicitly to the four ascending worlds of Kabbalah. The first rung of prayer comprises the preliminary morning blessings until the prayer Baruch Sheamar, which begins the next section. The morning blessings correspond to the world of Assiyah, action. The series of blessings thank God and acknowledge His goodness in providing for all the basic abilities and requirements enabling us to function in the practical world of action. In this section we create a vessel in this physical world for the coming blessings of our meditation. We fix our own physical bodies.

The second rung consists of the section of prayer referred to as Pesukei D’Zimrah, Verses of Praise. These prayers are comprised of the psalms of David, inspiring praises to God for creating the beautiful world we live in. This section corresponds to the world of Yetzirah, formation. Nature both reveals and hides God. It is for us to search for God and praise His manifest creation, maintaining a sense of awe even when ”grown up.” This world relates to our emotional attachments and response to the world around us. This section of the meditation fixes the soul level called “Ruach” (Spirit) , the Emotional soul.

The next section of prayer is centered around the recitation of the Shema, the ultimate unification of the NAME OF GOD in His creation. This section begins with a description of how the angels daily praise God and leads into the Shema, the revelation of the soul’s understanding of the nature of God’s unity. The beginning of this section represents the angels ascending and descending on the ladder and culminates with man standing humbly, yet elevated, ready to speak directly to the Creator. This once again teaches us that ultimately the soul is rooted in a higher place than even the angels. This third rung corresponds with the world of Briyah, creation and relates to the intellect. This level is the Soul called “Neshama” (soul of Divine intellect). This level of the soul is a part of the God itself. By the Meditation of the “Sma” we unify the Divine name YHV”H with our self and everything in a more revealed way preparing us for the work of the next level.

The final rung on the ladder of prayer is the recitation of the Amida, the silent prayer. This corresponds to the world of Atzilut, emanation, where man encounters God who appears above the head of the ladder, in a state of intimate union. At this level a man joins God as a partner in creation. This level is actual “emanation” of the powers of creation. This prayer- meditation is another ladder itself having 18 levels corresponding to the 18 vertebrae of the Spine. It is taught in the Yerushalmi Berachot that one hundred twenty elders and eighty prophets ordained the Amida meditation (the standing prayer). This hints at its awesome depth. Infinite Divine names fill these 18 levels. The simple level of this meditation are known. Its secrets are not taught in public but are only passed down on a one to one basis.

While approaching the ladder of Holiness to enter the upper worlds one must elevate this physical world by their actions. Observe, to accomplish the gathering of Holiness of the giving birth to the extended family of the 70 children of Yisrael first Yaakov had to go through great treachery and deceit from Lavan. The greatest revelation of light founding to the world came from the patriarch Yaakov and his wives as they gave us the foundation of the Hebrew people, but at what cost. Such hardship one has to undergo to reveal the Shechina in this world. One cannot expect it to be easy. Its written in Safer Giloyah Razia that the evil forces are always trying to get permission from the supernal court to try to test and trouble one who can or is trying to increase Holiness in this world. On top of all the trouble with Lavan , his own brother Asev wants to kill him.

All the sufferings we endure in this world make us stronger. Like a runner who jumps over bigger and bigger hurdles. After each Klipa (obstacle) is overcome it reveals its spark of vitality, its light which then enlivens us. Each time we do good and turn from evil we show to God how much we love him. It is by these ”opportunities” which seem as hardships we can give thanks to God for. As it is by these ”opportunities” that we earn our entrance fee into the world to come, and from such comes our portion.

It can be observed from the parsha that that just as Yaakov thought that he married Rachel but in the morning found it was Leah. So to in the time of the morning, time of revelation of new light the true nature of people becomes revealed, and this new nature may make one appear as though they went through a total transformational experience. Then one may have difficulties in their relationships dealing with one who appears to them as a different person then they once knew. But by overcoming obstacles causing confusion they can come to great results as with Yaakov and Rachel. As their first child was Yosef who saved all Yisreal in Egypt and from his descendants will arise Mashiach ben Yosef who will overcome our enemies. Yaakov had to work 7 more years to marry Rachel. Needless to say all the trouble that the wicked sorcerer Lavan inflicted upon Yaakov, and his financial treachery. His daughter Dina gets raped. Then, to top it all off, he spends the next 22 years thinking his son Yosef was killed by wild animals

But in the end all the deceit that Lavan worked against Yaakov only turned to blessings, as will all the curses in the Torah to those who merit such. As Yaakov saw in his dream that God took great concern for him, and the ordeals that he had to go through in the house of Lavan. God rewarded him greatly as he multiplied exceedingly in good when he left Lavan’s house. He was blessed in a supernatural way. Fulfilling the teaching of the Torah that that the righteous are put to sufferings in a natural way, but their deliverance comes about with signs and wonders.

The Rabbis note that parsha (Vayetze) does not begin on a new line. Instead it is separated from the previous parsha (Toledot) by only eight spaces. Most parshas do begin on a new line. Out Of the 52 Torah portions, there are very few parsha that do not begin on a new line and these parsha are called “closed”..

GOD has His reasons for everything He does. Sometimes we can’t figure out why things happen. Yaakov. His life becomes incredibly miserable. Here is a good man, who listens to his mother and does what she tells him to do and all he gets is more than twenty years of headaches, as it appears.

Yaakov couldn’t figure anything out in this parsha – from start to finish it was all confusion to him. That it why it is a closed parsha – Parsha S’tuma.

One must not wait for miracles for deliverance from evil, and one cannot expect providence above nature to always protect them. They need to seek a natural way to deal with the trials of this world. Here again we learn the lesson ” one must deal with the wicked with subtly”. In last weeks parsha Yaakov used guile to get his blessings, taking them away from the wicked Asev. In our parsha Yaakov sneaks away from Lavan with his belongings because he feared that Lavan may never let him leave, or take his rightful possessions with him if he were to announce his departure. This is the 2nd parsha in a row this lesson is taught, so we should take heed. ”One must deal with the wicked with subtly”. The crooked cannot be made straight, so they must be dealt with accordingly.

Everyone in the world has a unique mission. There are a certain number of missions that have to be accomplished in the world. Our sages tell us that if a person doesn’t address himself to his own purpose and mission in life, the fellow next to him who does, will get his portion and the other guy’s portion in this world and the next as well.

Asev sold his birthright, he gave up his “mission”, he lost his blessings. GOD gave Yaakov exceptional strength. He had to be as strong as Esav but using the physical power for God. He would need to apply this strength in various situations – sometimes to bash in heads, sometimes to show superhuman control, and other times to go to war. This is why the Torah has to tell us about Yaakov’s awesome strength.

Yaakov comes to the well at the beginning of the parsha, he meets some

shepherds who are from Lavan’s territory, and they are all waiting to gather together enough people to remove a huge boulder covering the well. The Torah off handedly tells us that when Rachel comes along, Yaakov turns into Superman and is able to lift the massive boulder off the well as easy as pie. As the Talmud says, it was as easy as removing a cork from a bottle.

The blessing Yaakov gave to Yehuda was: “His hands will be against his enemy.” Who was the greatest descendent of Yehuda? King David, who was a red-haired fellow with a ruddy complexion (Asev is called Edom which means red). He killed hundreds of thousands of enemies of the Jewish People. He was the archetype of what Esav could have been.

The vast majority of Jews have not assumed the mission they are supposed to. Someone else must pick up these unattended missions. There is much we must and can do. Then we will see the Hands are the hands of Asev and the voice is that of Yakov with the revelation of the Messiah quickly in our days.

Know, Shlomo ben Adret, the great Rashba, wrote:
“And I say that it was the kindness of the Supreme Being at the
start of Creation to create in his world things that would ensure the
health of the created beings, that if the existents happen to fall ill
or for any other reason deviate from their natural perfection, these
things are ready to restore them to their realm or to make them
healthy. And He placed these forces in the essence of things found
in nature, as may be attained by study, such as medications and
aids known to scholars of medicine, or in nature based on
properties but not attainable by study….. And it is not impossible
that such a power should also be in speech, as in the case of
amulets and similar things.” Not only is it not impossible but this this “stuff” works !

The Three Pillars are ש for Fire, מ for Water, and א for Air. We are not talking about physical elements, but spiritual one’s. The Three Mother letters thus take their place standing over the Three Pillars, they best exemplify the first three sefirot (Keter, Chochman and Binah; and alternatively in different instances Chochmah, Binah, and Daat). These three do not directly touch this world, as it cannot contain them; they are transcendent.

The Three Mother give birth to the creation of this physical world. The Lower Seven Lower sefirot thus become expressed by Seven double Letters (ב, ג, ד, כ, פ, ר, ת) have 2 sounds each and correspond in the physical world to shift sin reality to a consciousness of space and time. These Seven Letters also correspond to the seven days of the week, and seven planets (Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn).

The Three Mothers are the “mochin” (the brains), and the Seven Lower are the “middot” (characteristics) in which we manifest these thoughts and impulses through (such as emotions)

In the mystical Tree of Life, the three mothers are the three horizontal lines, the seven doubles are the seven vertical lines, and the twelve elementals are the twelve horizontal lines,

The Meditation upon the letters of the Hebrew alphabet, in combination with themselves and Divine Names, can produce ecstatic experiences and changes the nature of souls and the worlds they live in.

Knowledge of Language does not apprehend that which comes from it, for man does not apprehend the dimension of speech and letters. Rather apart from it, the letters ,there is no world . All the awesome worlds are given to comprehend, for every world is from a world that is above it , and they are given to Israel to comprehend. From comprehending the worlds that appears in the heart one may reach up until Ayn Sof. For there is no way to pray other than by the finite beings, a person . receives and elevates in thought unto Ayn Sof. The holy is the power of elevation.

R. Judah Barzilai in his commentary on Safer Yetzera said God ” created light and great fire for glory , that is called “Ruach HaKodesh” and is also called “Shechinah”, the dwelling of His Glory . Neither angel nor seraph nor prophet can gaze at all at the beginning of that great light . . . But from the end of that light the Creator , when He wishes , shows lights and sparks to His angels , seraphs and prophets .Sometimes from the end of the light there goes forth sparks and lights to his angels , seraphs and prophets; sometimes from the end of that light there is shown to them certain forms and visions and dreams or a visual image to whomever God wishes.

First is The breath of the living God. From this breath is all. Voice is by breath. By the voice is the carved out (powers), as the drawing forth of the voice is “penimi” By breath He engraves engraving is by voice and carving out is by breath by way of voice. Voice has substance and is אין A vessel Is carved out by breath itself. By breath are the 22 letters inscribed. The letters are some thing of breath, for from the breath itself the letters are are carved out. R. Judah b . Barzilai explains that letters are shaped in the breath. The letters are engraved and erected and overhung: there is that letter which is engraved as a kind of furrow there is that which is erected as a kind of wall. Engraving is the degree of carving of form that occurs at the level of the sefirah Binah. The forms that are engraved are the letters . The tongue is a חוק Tiferet is called חוק , חוק it is written : “It is a חוק for Israel (Ps. 81 : 5 ) . א is חוק elevating the rule and the exalting of Its crown.

Breath from breath, the second breath , called ‘Ruach from Ruach’ corresponds to Binah in which the letters are engraved . This Bina is the quarry and storehouse of the engraved letters. The power of all of them is in Binah. One should not say that they are something distinct from Binah as they are Binah. And breath is one with then. Water corresponds to the sefirah which emanates after Binah. Sefer Yetzirah lists the sefirot corresponding to breath , breath from breath , water and air , began from the second sefirah, Chuchmah, but sometimes we say Keter. Rabbi Judah Halevi refers in his Kuzari to the `water’ mentioned in the account of
creation as “hyuli”  (primal matter) and the spirit of God is the Divine
Will which wholly penetrates the “hyuli”, doing to it what it wills and when
it wills. Lack of form was called darkness’ and “Tohu”  and “Bohu”.  The Ketem Paz, explains that “Hiyli” was known to the Jewish Sages
and it was they who transmitted its knowledge to the Greeks (Ketem Paz 42b; 48a-48b). However, the Greeks only received a part of the teaching, which is knowledge of the lower aspect of “tohu” that they called “hyle”. Knowledge of the higher “tohu”, which is the sefirah of Binah, the  Sages had kept to themselves. Ramban in his commentary on the Torah considers “Tohu”  and “Bohu” as prime matter and form.  “Tohu” as Matter is a undifferentiated substrate, a matter totally devoid of any qualities. The Ramban says that “Tohu” is Power with out a “Reshimu” (Tracing , vessel). “Vohu also as “Tohu”  is power but is has “reshimu”. “Reshimu” is of the highest levels in the emanation chain of unfolding, proceeding from less to more differentiated through the levels of hidden, impressed, engraved, hewed and even further.  “Vohu is  is the differentiating element  which makes the thing precisely what it is. Rav Azriel, an earlyer Mikubal of the Gerona  identifies “tohu” as the sefirot Hokhmah  and “bohu” as the sefirot Binah. The Ramban considers “tohu” and “bohu” as separate entities meaning the prime matter and the form.
The Bahir says: “God made “Tohu” and placed it in Evil, he made “Bohu” and placed it in Peace, as it is written: ‘He makes peace and creates evil’ (Is. 45:7)”. The line and stones in Isaiah 34:11 were understood by Bar Hiyya to refer to a measuring line and a plummet –tools of a builder. For Abravanel, “Tohu” was thus associated with evil . Ramban explains the line as ‘the building in the thought of the builder’, whereas the stones are the actual building. In this he concentrates on the fact that “Tohu” is not in the state of actuality, it is not real, whereas “Bohu” represents the state of actuality, reality. The Bahir, goes even further to state that “Tohu” becomes “Bohu”. This is a very
significant statement. Bar Hiyya wrote “Bohu” is the form that covers “Tohu” and sustains it. Rav Bar Hiyya and the Ramban state quite unambiguously: (Commentary on the Torah, Gen 1:2) that the form that informs matter of what it is to be is called in the Holy Tongue “Bohu”, and this is a
compound word for “bo” – “hu'”(it is in it). Targum ben Uzziel characterizes “Tohu” as signifiying a state of lack of people and cattle. Eleazar of Worms expounds in his book Sodey Razzaya, that “Tohu”, that “Tohu” is “empty of anything good”. Again Abravanel also lacking perfection, deficient, even evil.

It is also explained that the whole history is divided into three periods of two thousand years each: a period of “Tohu”, a period of Torah and a period of the Messiah (Tanna de-Vei Eliyahu Rabbah ). Likewise, when the world is “Tohu” and “Vohu”  the heaven and the earth were not visible as existing

The letters and sefirot are one unified structure of multiple aspects , which he calls faces within faces , הוית from within הוית . The structure is sustained by the action of ” sealing , ” which effects the delimiting the nature of divine abundance being drawn to the world. The Divine structure of the world is arranged in successive layers of being , one after another and influencing each other as “Twenty faces within four faces . . . it has 24 faces with in seven faces and it has wings within wings nested within the other , influencing each other. Voice comes out of the throat and vapor comes from the mouth and carves out the shape of letters.

In voice is the drawing out of the tone of the letters that are emanated and engraved , as it is written , ” The voice of God engraves flames of fire ( Ps 2 9 : 7 ) , ” the voice divides one letter into many letters through drawing out its pronunciation. Voice is inner , for its nature is very subtle , and not apprehend. Voice is the power of “Teshuvah” with it the letters are hewn. The letters have a body and a soul they are set in a fixed way in the head . In the breath are all the letters , and the breath is fixed in the mouth . For there is a distinction between the movements of the tongue and the movements of the mouth. for the vessel of the breath is the movement of the organs of speech that move with them ,and they have a fixed place , from which place it is impossible to move.

When the voice issues from the throat vapor issues from the mouth and hews the shapes of the letters , bent and straight ,speaking of the variable vocalizations of voice that composes speech. These variations are formed by fluctuations in a single letter to bring forth from it resultant creative variances in the letters. The voice is the foundation of the letters of speech which you bend in several ways many of which are included in a subtle voice that is not perceived by most people. Concerning this subtle voice that is not perceived Sadia Goan says “ There is no speech , no words , their voice is not heard ” (Ps.19:4 ) Voices travel from one end of the world to the other, yet the people in between do not perceive them. For R. Isaac the blind voice is not just physical sound, but the vessel of the underlying agency or intention of Divine aspects of creative expression. Similar to as the Rambam in Moreh Nevukhim describes the voices of the celestial spheres in praise of the Creator as non – verbal and says that the voices of the spheres are a higher level of intellectual activity than articulated speech.

Judah Ha levi in the Kuzari teaches that regarding the four letters , א ה ו ״ י., that these letters are as vowels to the rest of the letters and are as spirits , and the rest of the letters are like bodies.

The 5 organs of speech are according to Abraham Ibn Ezra in his Torah Commentary are the throat , the palate , the tongue , the teeth and the lips. Dunash Ibn Taeia teaches that the 5 organs of speech are the lungs , the throat , the palate , the tongue , the teeth and the mouth. R. Judah b. Barzilai identifies the 5 organs of speech as the lungs with the throat , 2) the lips , 3) the palate , 4)the tip of the tongue against the teeth , and the

middle of the tongue.

Rav Judah ben Barzilai teaches that The Holy One, blessed be He, created ten unique things , numbered in correspondence to the ten sefirot, and the measure of these ten unique things that have no limit . The meaning of ” their measure ” is from the term ” measurement ,” which is to say that the measure of these ten things has no end, and these a r e the depth of beginning and the depth of end.

Know that the sefirot are powers emanated by God and not God Himself. Within them various creative acts can be preformed. God acts within them as an artisan, forming and shaping and making all. The sefirot are in the letters. As the Ramban explains they are not the letters themselves, but their inner aspect. The sefirot and letters are as Categories of divine activity , activated through human cognition . They are Categories of divine activity humans can become involved with. Only some of the הוית (existances) in the sefirah of Chuchmah are are given over to contemplation, others are not. The beginning of הוית are the wonders with in Chuchmah. The 32 paths contained in Chuchmah, are the primary Categories of comprehension perceived as differentiates forms. From Keter are whats c a l l e d “Nativot” (pathways) . From Chuchmah, whats called sefirot, and from Bina are letters . The term describing the 32 paths as פ ל י א ו ת is describing them as wonder – inducing. from secrets hidden in Chuchmah come forth “nativot” pathways. The main road are these “netivot” from them radiate דרך (smaller pathways). The 32 “Nativot Chuchmah” are “wonders which cause wonder”. they are like strands of flame , which are the bodies of the f lames , that are pathways to the embers . The 32 paths are contained in the sefirah Chuchmah. They are the primary first perceived categories of comprehension that are as differentiated. These pathways of wonders are like veins with in the trunk of a tree , and Chuchmah is the r o o t . They are inner and subtle הוית which no creature can contemplate except that which suckles from it. R. Judah b. Barzilai teaches that The letters are the foundations of the creation they comprise the foundation of a building . The structure of sefirot called בנין , is the seven lower sefirot sometimes including Binah. The idea is the lower sefirot are contained in the sefirah Chesed , like “fire from water , they unfold from chesed. The stones themselves are quarried from an even more fundamental source , the mountain to which the sefirot are likened. 6 of the 10 sefirot are called the dimensions of the Holy One, blessed is He, by which all actions are effected that were prepared in potential from the six days of creation . The “measurer ” refers to Binah, which presides over the lower , measured sefirot. The essentiality of dimension refers to Chuchmah, the interior essence of Binah. R. Azriel of Gerona associates the term הוית (existences) , with the sefirah Chuchmah, in which the הוית begin. These הוית are the beginning of the causes of the separate entities. Rabbi Yitzchak the Blind quotes the Bahir saying “The quarry of the Torah, the storehouse of Chuchmah its quarry is the Holy Spirit , which teaches that the Holy One, bl essed be He, hewed all the letters of the Torah and engraved them in spirit and made His forms.” Binah corresponds with “חומר” Chuchmah with צורה. Binah is not itself “חומר” . It’s engraving letters within “Teshuvah” creates “חומר“. Carving is done by Sefirah Chuchmah. Even though the verse Dan. 10: 21 seems to imply that the forms of the letters apply to Chuchmah, that is , they are inscribed , none the less they remain hidden until they are engraved in Bina.

in Binah.

The י ו ד ה ״ א in the beginning of “Sefer Yerzera” Ramban says refers to the sefirot chuchmah and Binah.Keter brings forth the thirty – two paths. the letters , are divided in to 3 divisions :3 Mothers , 7 double letters and 12 simple letters . According to R. Asher b. David these 3 letter groups are associated with 3 names יה יהוה צנאות . Ramban also associates the categories with chuchmah, Binah, and the lower seven sefirot. Rabbi Yitzchak the Blind teaches that in Binah the הוית are engraved and by this is the power to comprehend Chuchmah.

By virtue of the הוית (existences) which are permanent essences engraved in one there is within them power to contemplate the subtle permanent essences which have no limit . הוית of permanence , on what ever level of “histasholut” they appear are the source from which all originate. הוית have a simple unchanging nature and never change. הוית (existences) R. Ezra and the Gerona kabbalists said the הוית were , the emanation came into being .

The reading of the 3 ספר ספר סיפור is writing , counting and speaking. According to R. Asher b. David the 3 letters of יהוה correspond to the the 3 “sefarim” in their entirety which is the full set of sefirot but as they appear engraved in the sefirah chuchmah. “Sefer” includes “sapir” and- “sapir” includes “sipor”. In R. Yitzchak the Blind’s Commentary. he associates writing with Chuchmah, counting with Binah, and speaking with the lower sefirot . R. Yitzchak of Acre adds that writing is Keter, counting is Chuchmah, speaking is Binah

The “tohu” (chaos) that existed before the creation of this world came from, was created out of the Spiritual element of Water. God “spoke” and the world came into being. God’s “speech” consisted of Him emanating creating forming letters from Spiritual Air and working with them, as an artisan, to build the world. Before “this- our Creation” God created other realms, the tools for, and the boundaries of Creation. The angels come from the element of Spiritual Fire. When we consider the substance of the separate intellects (angels) . There are angels which have more purity and radiance and splendor and cleanliness and completeness of intellect than other angels , which are exalted over their exaltation more than fire over the earth , until they are absorbed in the perfect light. The distinction between ” face ” and ” back . ” “Face ” refers to that which is close to its source or emanation , “back” to that which is far away from it.

God said “And you shall see My back, which is to say the beings from which I have turned away, which , in manner of speaking , I have cast aside , due to their remoteness from His exalted existence. The separate entities are affected by the extension of the letters that when Combined, coupled many times and weighed according to their “penimi” (innerness). Carving is more interior than engraving , and engraving is more interior than hewing . So, too , weighing is more interior than exchange , and exchange than combinations. Engraving is done in voice, drawing out of the tone of the voice the letters are emanated and engraved , as it is written , ” The voice of God engraves flames of fire ( P s .2 9 : 7 ) , Hewn in breath. The voice issues from the throat vapor issues from the mouth and hews the shapes of the letters. The position of the tongue, shape of the mouth, and the proportion of inhalation and exhalation shapes letters into “vessels.” Rav Eleazar of Worms describes how to permeate 221 gates, instead of 231, most widely used. He also says to “ always put the letter of the Divine name with the alphabet..” He also designates six of the vowels to a human limb of the Body. R. Eleazar mentions one method is permutation where only the first eleven letters from א to ל is permeated with each of the 22 letters. This is often referred to in the creation of a “golem”. To make a “Golam” one takes virgin earth, shape it into a golem, bury the golem made from clay in the earth, and bring it to life by walking around it while reciting the proper combinations of letters and mystical names of God. Walking and reciting in the opposite direction, in reversed order. The golem would become lifeless.

Rav Eleazar lists the combinations of 21 letters with each of 22 letters and their various positions. This gives 462 combinations or 231 (when halved). He says to obtain the proper combination, only eleven letters are doubled. Each pair of letters is called a “Gate.” Through these “gates” the creative Holy power goes out into the universe !The Divine names in the Holy Tongue are the “letters of speech” which descend degree by degree from the 10 utterances of creation by means of substitutions and transpositions of the letters through the 231 gates until they reach and become invested in that particular created thing to give it life. The most extensive version of the 231 gates is in Rav Naphtali ben Jacob Bacharach’s “Emek ha-Melek” it contains the tables without instructions. The main thing is the combinations of each of letters with each consonant of the יהוה, according to every possible vocalization. One needs to return the letters to their original creative state and give them power of intellect that issues forms in this world.

Also this method of permeating letters uses language to cut through its own structure and enables the meditater to enter a super rational state of consciousness quickly. By meditation on a biblical phrase through its transpositions the rational meaning is lost, and in the disorientation following the repeating of new meaningless phrase. one comes to see meanings beyond the surface. R. Azriel of Gerona “Commentary on Sefer Yetzirah” teaches that the forward combinations of the letters create and build. This relates to grace, face and “rahamim” and the backward combinations relate to judgment, back and “din” in the creation Half of the combinations of the letters of the wheel, are the 231 forward , and the remaining half, which are 231 reverse are above their wheel, since there are 462 alphabets and two of them are called a gate [sha’ar]…

Lessons from Safer Yetzera :

Hebrew letters and numbers are not just signs or symbols. They have a real “active” existence outside our minds and they are Holy. The structure of the letters can influence the structure of the world. The Letters are the basis of the power of the extended Divine Name of which the Torah is composed of..

The Hebrew alphabet has 22 letters, including seven pairs of the letters have the same shape but 2 different sounds determined by one member of each pair having a “Degash” (dot) in the middle. The dot changes the pronunciation, sound of the letter. These are the called the “seven doubles.” Twelve letters only have 1 sound, though a “Degash” (dot) does not change the sound of these letters but it does distinguish a hard of soft sound to the letter. There are called “Simple Letters”. 3 letters are called “Mothers” אמש. Three mothers are sealed with the letter “yod”, and those that are sealed are sealed in the “kotz” (tip)of the letter “Yod” When they are sealed with the letter “yod” they are placed in His great Name and compose a single structure. Elevation is sealed in “yod”. Sealing by letters of the Divine Name secure and protect the created world through contact with heavenly fire aroused through the letter contemplation. We find this in the ancient “Hachalot” writings. The 3 mothers are identified with the 3 sefirot Binah, Chesed, Pachad in the sefirah of Chuchmah represented by the letter yod of the Divine Name.

Covenants are made between God and man by the actions of his sex organ and speech of his lips. As these are tools of the creative process. To both of these is a type of circumcision. We combine letters according to the secrets of “Safer Yetzera” to “create”. The “combinations” of letters are formed by combining each letter with all the other letters in the alphabet. This yields 462 “combinations” (22 letters x 21 other letters). By eliminating all the mirror images (e.g., AB, BA), one arrives at the required 231 “combinations.” These are called in Safer Yetzera the 231 gates.

From “Safer Yetzera” we learn the physical dimension is bound by the six directions of the world. The spiritual dimension is bound by beginning and end by the moral dimension of reality. Know the Spiritual realms precede the moral (this refers to Torah Law), and both of these realms precede the physical. רום (height) is that which supports all. R. Judah b. Barzilai’s comentary points out that despite being lighter and higher רום (height) supports the world. רום is Keter. Chuchmah mediates the flow of abundance from the Ayn Sof and keter to all the other sefirot. Rabbi Yitzchak the blind in his commentary writes Chuchmah has a special role being “in all” and ” surrounding all” by which Chuchmah mediates and controls the ascents and descents of Divine abundance from above to below and from below to above. Also that which is sealed, that is limited from below by each sefirah, and elevated to Keter and Ein Sof is through the power of the sefirah Chuchmah. According to R. Yitchak the Blind Below is “Zaddik”, east is Teferet, expressing its middle position among the sefirot. West is Netzach, Netzauch transmits flow from the upper sefirot. West is that which is received. north is of Gevurah, south is Hod. South is Tiferet that is received in prayer and activates that which was given to it’s custody . North is that which is hidden from one who turns toward it. North is the dimension that has within it the hidden satisfaction of the will of those things which turn toward it . The “showbread” table is in the north , an allusion to the fact that it is “The table that is before Hashem”, blessed, is He. Who gives to each and every thing its need. And Hashem alone Unique and unified rules over all. North צפון is “loshon” hidden being (potential) beneficence presently hidden. North has the good of this world that is hidden because man has not the ability to grasp, work that will at the present time , but only when willed by the creator. Thus the good is withheld from one, as if it is hidden. A dimension draws from another dimension that is carved, and the carved from the engraved, and the engraved from the inscribed , and the inscribed from the hidden. North comes to South.

According to the nearness or distance from the root is its purity or coarseness.

For the nearer to the root and source, the greater its power and will and radiance, its purity and its truth in “Ruach HaKodesh” than that which is far from that place . The more the distance is increased , the weaker and darker it is , and the further it is from the spirit of intellect and the closer to complete corporeality .

The God sets boundaries to space by the 3 letters of יהו . He by them “seals” and sets limits in the six dimensions of space. These three letters of His great Name יהו build six extremities . For each side is sealed with them , and each side is sustained with the flow of blessing in them . Regarding this it is said I shall seal , like a person who carries the seal of the king in his hand , such that no one can harm him . So, too , each extremity stands and its sustained by the power of the blessing that is in these 3 letters.

The rava”d writes “I say that the Name אהיה and the Name יהוה, are all one Name. This means that the י of the יהוה corresponds to the א of אהיה , and ה of יהוה corresponds to the ה and the vav of יהוה corresponds to the י of אהיה for the י was upright and became bent , to inform that he who is bent in this world will be upright in the world to come. The Name אהיה refers to Keter, which is hidden in Chuchmah, and in all sefirot. In a similar way, Chuchmah is counted with all sefirot. Hokhaah and Keter are counted with all the sefirot.

In Job : ת ו ל ד א ר ץ על בלימה (He suspends the earth on nothing) . This is to say that the sefirot are all suspended in a manner in the word that is negligible בלימה

“They are all suspended on בלימה. The lamed is a letter in Chuchmah. י is in all . The מ and the ה become spirit from which comes the governance of their offspring. The letter lamed alludes to sefirah Binah, which is in the sefirah

Chuchmah, represented by the letter בלימה . ב all included in Chuchmah, which is the letter י , and י is in all , and the מ and ה become a power from which issues the governance of their offspring . R. Azriel teaches that, “ten and not nine” sefirot “Safer Yetzera” means not to exclude Keter from the sefirot when counting upwards and also means not to exclude Malchut when counting downwards. For both , “ten and not eleven” means do not include Ein Sof in the count of sefirot. The sefirah Malchut is sometimes called “Atarah” or “Ateret Yesod”. Rabbi Yitchak the Blind calls Malchut “Memshallah” (rulership), it gathers and includes all the sefirot above it, ultimately it being the rule of The “Ayn Sof”. draw forth the

flow of existence from nothingness.

Rabbi Yitzchak the Blind writes that Sadeekem in Israel , when they raise their hands in prayer , they raise their hands to the heights of heaven and their ten fingers draw flow from the ten sefirot, to bestow blessing upon us.

R. Yehudah Albotini teaches that all combinations of the letters are combined and permuted with the יהוה by this the whole of creation and all of language emanates. The letters of the יהוה are said to be the vowels of the alphabet. The letters יהו are the souls of all other letters as taught by members of the circle of the Special Cherubim, esp. R. Elhanan ben Yaker. Elahana.

Hexagonal Close Packed (HPC) Structure

Another common close packed structure is the hexagonal close pack. The hexagonal structure of alternating layers is shifted so its atoms are aligned to the gaps of the preceding layer. The atoms from one layer nest themselves in the empty space between the atoms of the adjacent layer just like in the fcc structure. However, instead of being a cubic structure, the pattern is hexagonal. (See image below.) The difference between the HPC and FCC structure is discussed later in this section. The hcp structure has three layers of atoms. In each the top and bottom layer, there are six atoms that arrange themselves in the shape of a hexagon and a seventh atom that sits in the middle of the hexagon. The middle layer has three atoms nestle in the triangular “grooves” of the top and bottom plane. Note that there are six of these “grooves” surrounding each atom in the hexagonal plane, but only three of them can be filled by atoms.

As shown in the middle image above, there are six atoms in the hcp unit cell. Each of the 12 atoms in the corners of the top and bottom layers contribute 1/6 atom to the unit cell, the two atoms in the center of the hexagon of both the top and bottom layers each contribute ½ atom and each of the three atom in the middle layer contribute 1 atom. The image on the right above attempts to show several hcp unit cells in a larger lattice.

The coordination number of the atoms in this structure is 12. There are six nearest neighbors in the same close packed layer, three in the layer above and three in the layer below. The packing factor is 0.74, which is the same as the fcc unit cell. The hcp structure is very common for elemental metals and some examples include beryllium, cadmium, magnesium, titanium, zinc and zirconium.

“A soccer ball has hexagons and 12 pentagons at the corners; the pentagons are essential to close the structure,” said Yeates, who is also a member of the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA and UCLA’s Molecular Biology Institute. “The Epcot Center at Walt Disney World has Spaceship Earth, a well-known dome structure composed of triangles that fit into hexagons, but on closer inspection you will find 12 locations where only five triangles come together; the same is true of the Buckminster Fuller-type domes in the desert and many viral structures.

“This principle of closing a structure by combining a large number of hexagons with a small number of pentagons to create a piece of curvature has been understood by architects, molecular biologists studying viruses and soccer ball manufacturers.”

Fly eye cell elaborate tissue patterns are formed by two cell types with complementary adhesion molecules, as revealed by Sujin Bao and Ross Cagan (Washington University, St. Louis, MO). Favored heterophilic attractions between the two adhesion molecules, they show, pattern the fly eye.

Patterning has often taken a back seat to fate determination in cell biology studies. “We’ve spent buckets of time,” says Cagan, “finding all sorts of signaling molecules that explain cell fate, but not patterning. We can make kidney cells [in vitro], but how do you sort them into a glomerulus? What we really want to know is not what makes a lung cell, but what makes a lung.”

STAR OF DAVID CREATED FOR THE WHOLE WORLD TO SEE ON THE SOLAR ECLIPSE…..

At the end of the “Total Solar Eclipse’ the Sun created the Star of David for the whole world to see and this is no coincidence.

What makes it even more spectacular is that the 22nd July is the 203rd day in the annual gregorian calendar and it is the same day that the Star of David is created by the eclipse of the sun, 203 is also the gematria value of the words “Created” and ” Star of David”.

For decades, Physicists have been searching for a “theory of everything” that can explain all of the various phenomena in the universe. Currently, one very popular such theory is string theory, which holds that the universe boils down to a set of tiny vibrating strings. Differing vibrations would result in particles of different masses and charges, giving rise to the variety of forces and particles in the universe. According to string theory, all of reality exists in (exactly) ten dimensions. There are four revealed dimensions  (the three dimensions of space together with the fourth dimension of time) and an additional six concealed (spatial) dimensions. In Kabbalah we are taught that God emanated from His infinite light (through the process of tzimtzum–the “contraction” of infinity) ten Divine lights or powers (sefirot) through which He created the universe. Each of these ten powers can be understood to be a “dimension” of reality. This is the ultimate reason that the Torah chooses the “perfect” number system to be the decimal system (as is said in the Torah: “The tenth shall be holy for God”).

All ten dimensions are seen to be contained within the “point-string” . whose form resembles a tiny “string”) of the letter yud = 10. The letter yud is the first letter of God’s essential Name YHV”H  (whose full value equals 26, the sole other possible number of dimensions of the universe according to string theory). The full spelling of the letter yud is: yud (10), vav (6), dalet (4). The two additional letters, the vav (6) and the dalet (4) themselves equal the original yud (10). The full spelling of the yud is thus to be understood as an equation: 10 = 6 plus 4. The 10 dimensions of reality divide into two categories, one of 6 and the other of 4. In Kabbalah, the vav (6) is considered the “male” element of reality whereas the dalet (4) is considered the “female” element. The “female” principle of reality is “revelation” whereas the “male” principle is concealed within the “female.” So is the relation, according to string theory, of the 6 concealed dimensions of reality to the 4 revealed dimensions.  Kabbalah teaches that the ten dimensions of reality were initially created in potential by means of the “contraction” of God’s infinite light, thereby resulting in the appearance of an “empty space” or “black hole” of “potential” being. Into this primordial “vacuum” enters a “ray” of Divine light, referred to as the “line” or “string.” The primordial string “actualizes” the ten manifest dimensions of reality and continues to emanate within them the worlds of creation. The initial revelation within the primordial vacuum is the revelation of light. In the words of the third verse of Genesis (the first explicit “saying” of creation): “And God said ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” This primordial light refers to the Divine ray of light that permeates the vacuum, the Divine “string.”

In Hebrew, the numerical value of the word for “string” (chut) is 23. 23 is the tenth prime number (beginning from 1). The value of “light” (or) is 207. 207 = 9 times 23. This indicates that every “photon” of the primordial light is in fact composed of a nine-fold string. In Kabbalah we are taught that one of the primary functions of the primordial string is to “measure.” Each “unit” of measure is in fact an individual string. From one initial string become emanated a multitude of strings which fill space. These strings “fold” in and out, “split” into two and our “reunited” into one. These stages most precisely reflect the imagery and terminology of modern string theory.

There is another theory called M-theory which suggests that the universe has a total of 11 dimensions. Three of these are the familiar dimensions of space (length, width, height). The fourth is the dimension of time, which is really inseparable from the three of space, and part of one continuum. In addition to these, there are seven more dimensions unperceivable to human senses. Kabballah talks about 11 gaps between the parzufim and this being places the “other side” nourish, but this is not the place for that.

A central principles of quantum physics is entanglement. This refers to 2 particles that are intertwined, and appear to affect one another instantaneously even though they may be very far apart. Einstein famously called this strange phenomenon “spooky action at a distance”. This reflects the Torah idea that all is one.

“Entanglement” is seen very much in the Kaballah of the Ariza”l. All is connected and all is one connected in MANY WAYS. We see this by the worlds superimposed upon worlds; in souls entangled across vast distances, and across time; and in lengthy formulas of yichudim, kavvanot, and tikkunim (“unifications”, “meditations”, and “rectifications”). In fact, studying the Arizal sometimes feels like studying quantum physics. Its very well possible that the study of Kabballah one day will bridge the gap between the realm of science and the realm of the spirit.

Physicists  Stuart Hameroff and Roger Penrose have built an entire theory around entanglement, which provides a scientific explanation for the soul, the afterlife, and reincarnation. It is very well possible the Scientific thoery could lead to proof of the Truth of the Torah’s teachings.

One of the most well-known principle in quantum physics is that of wave-particle duality. According to this every particle is also a wave. Light photons (particles of light) have been found to behave as a particles and also as a waves.

Max Planck, is often called the “father of quantum physics”, he said that “I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter. The Torah tells us this animating force of creation, Who continually is sustaining the existence of a physical creation is God !

Another way to understand the 6 dimensions (directions) is according to the Parzufim (faces of GOD). . The six major Parzufim, into which the Sefirot are organized are Attika Kaddisha or Arich Anpin (The Holy Ancient One or Long Face) which is identified with the Sefirah Keter (Divine will and Delight), Abba (the Supernal Father ) corresponding to Chochmah (creative wisdom), Imma (the Supernal Mother) corresponding to Binah (Divine Understanding), Ze’ir Anipin (The Short-faced One) or Ben (the Son) corresponding to the Sefirot from Chesed (kindness) to Yesod (way of manifestation) and Bat (the Daughter) or Nukvah (the Female) (corresponding to Malchut). In the feminine Parzufim (The manifest Divine presence), the Sefirah Yesod is the sexual organs and  the womb .

Sometimes Atika Kadisha is spoken of as a separate Partzuf above Arich Anpin, bringing the total number of Parzufim to six. There are also six secondary Parzufim: Jacob and Israel, which are aspects of Ze’ir Anpin, Rachel and Leah, which are aspects of Nukvah, and Israel Sava and Tevunah, which respectively personify the “Malchut” of Abba and Imma.

The Parzufim, like the Sefirot are  components of the worlds. Each thing in the world is composed of the various Parzufim, which appear in infinite relations and combinations. Like the constellations in the sky, the Parzufim are continually changing their positions, and the procession of earthly events are a result of these changes’ The Parzufim also engage in unifications , Which cause the restoration and repair of the worlds.

Pictures created by the Hebraic sacred geometry form a picture of GOD that encompasses eternity.  A picture of the nature and GOD’S flow patterns in creation that we may be able to grasp some what. The inclusion of the Sephirah allows us to think more rationally about the important characteristic of GOD as they are expressed in the past, the present, and future. This becomes a tool for contemplation and meditation so that we can grow in wisdom and understanding.

An interesting addition to the picture is the use of the compass to create the sixfold creation process. By using a compass we can draw six and only six circles by maintaining a constant radius. The first circle starts at any place on the page. Then the next circle starts at any point on the circumference of the first circle. This forms an intersection between these two circles. We start a third circle at a point on the circumference of the second circle and place our pencil one the intersection of the first two circles. Continuing in this way we would form a pattern of six and only six circles; all of them joined in a common center point. Then if we draw straight lines at the intersections, a hexagon would form. And if we draw straight tangenital lines joining two circles at a time, another hexagon is formed on the outside.

There are several basic elements in what some call “Hebraic Sacred Science.” The Hebrew alphabet produces a profound prophetic message every time Hebrew is spoken. But there is another branch, Hebraic Sacred Geometry. The a element of Hebraic geometry is the equal-sided hexagram. It can be used to demonstrate the acts of creations. For Basic Unit, Symbol of the Creator example, if we take the hexagon to represent the days of the creation, we will see that each of the six creation phases join together to form another day. A seventh created day and a seventh day is formed by doing nothing, by resting.

Around the seven days can be placed another hexagon which is symbolized by the Hebrew letter Resh. This super hexagon is the universal container, formed before all else, in which all other containers reside. So the entire physical and spiritual creation can fit inside the super container.

Transformed hexagon Lines drawn between opposite corners in the hexagon form another container: a cube with six sides. So by drawing three lines the hexagon transforms from a flat object into a three-dimensional one. This will play an important role in the  Kabbalah Tree.

The hexagon can also contain two equilateral triangles: one pointing up and the other pointing Male and Female in the hexagon down. This becomes a graphical representation of the male and female attributes of the Creator. Creation is an act of conception, growth, and birth. Both the male and female life contained within the Creator are involved. You will see that the union of the male and female give birth to another hexagon: the symbol of a new Creator being. The two triangles form the Star of David within the Creator hexagon. And when that happens something new is created.

The Container Cube and the Star join to form a place in which a creation is born and resides. This geometric form Cube with Male and Female then becomes the pattern from which a  Kabbalah tree is formed.

The  view of the Kabbalah tree Creation cube is from the top-down and follows the pattern of the Hebrew alphabet. Starting at the top the first container represents the conception, process, and birth of knowledge: Da ‘ ath, that will be manifested in all that follows. This knowledge required wisdom and understanding and contains mercy and love tempered by judgement. From this knowledge of all that exists, life, death, good, bad, will come a product of tremendous worth to all of Creation. The Mother (Divine understanding) in the first container connects down to the “Teferet” Beauty that will come out of this Knowledge in the middle container where another conception, process, and birth will take place. The Father looks upward to connect with the Creator, Holy People  wear the “Crown” and bring God’s Power into the creation process.

Merkabah Tree from the Book of Ezekiel and Isaiah

The middle Container is the time of the creation of the first heaven and earth, the physical universe, and those who must live in it. It is a time of incredible process where those who live in this Container are tested and tried to prove their individual spiritual strength and the importance of living connected to the Creator: “Parzuf  Aba” The Father  (flow of divine creative wisdom) of this middle phase reaches up and draws Knowledge from the first act of Creation, while the Mother looks toward the Future and what this will mean for the rest of Creation. The beginning of the Grand Plan becomes manifest in this domain and is represented by the second group of Hebrew letters. This becomes the first state of the highest result of the Creation process. By the merging of the Father and the Mother (Divine creativity and Understanding) A human become a Holy conduit for the infinate light, becoming a active participant in the continuing process of creation.  This Creation is given the name “Beauty,” (name of the middle circle of creation.)

The interesting part of this is in the word “bereshith” that we translate “In the beginning.” If the word is parsed into two words: bere shith, the meaning is now, “I create six!”

Sefer Yetzera (The book of Creation) from Abraham Teaches our world is made of Six sides in the six directions. The letters Alef, Mem, Shin are signed in six rings and enveloped in male and female. Know, meditate and imagine that the fire supports water. He sealed six extremities. He sealed the height, turning upwards and sealed it with Yod-He-Vav. Six: He sealed the depth and He turned below and sealed it with Yod-Vav-He. Seven: he sealed the east and turned forwards, and sealed it with He-Vav-Yod. Eight: He sealed the west and turned backwards and sealed it with He-Yod-Vav. Nine: He sealed the south and turned to His right and sealed it with Vav-Yod-He. Ten: He sealed the north and turned to His left and sealed it with Vav-He-Yod. These are the ten Sefirot out of nothing, One: Spirit of the Living Elohim; two: wind of the spirit; three: water of the wind; four: fire from the water, height and depth, east and west, north and south.
